  1. So sorry to hear that - I hope his family find their peace with his loss. I was hoping to take in many more laning trips with him - I'll toast him the next time I'm on Tilberthwaite, he told me that was his favourite.
  2. I moved mine onto the bulkhead behind the middle seat with the existing loom - I just had to lengthen a couple of wires. It was a bit fiddly but OK - it would be a doddle if you have a cubby box.
  3. I'd also say leave the suspension standard. If it's not too late tell them to fit the original rubber bushes.
  4. I was just thinking about this the other day and wondering how you were getting on! I'm still in the queue for the sequel ... for td5's
  5. Its these guys then I expect - Julia is their President. David - if I can help in anyway, please let me know.
  6. There is a B reg 1984 90 SW on eBay at the moment that's had one owner from new.
  7. Here, let me google that for you: http://www.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&biw=1439&bih=780&tbs=isch%3A1&sa=1&q=land+rover+steering+guard&btnG=Search&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=
  8. Did your starter motor come with a new solenoid?
  9. That's really helpful thank you! Is the header accessible by simply removing the little console with the rear wash wipe? Great idea on the switch - I'll find my old one and solder the three wires together on on the block connector and carry it as a spare.
  10. I've come to drive tonight and all of a sudden I've got no lights, ive got high beam flash on the Indicator column, but no sides, dash or headlights. I had a look and (with my little torch) it looked like no fuses were gone - though the underseat fuse 6 (which is the lighting circuit except for flash) is a different type of fuse to the normal blade type. It is behind a cover with a small window that seems to show a copper bridge wire, that looked intact. I had previously had the same symptoms and it was the lighting switch that had burned out - so I popped off the connector and bridged the wires on the loom side but got nothing .... though the only thing I had to bridge it with was a split pin, which may not be conductive? Could anyone give me any suggestions please? I'm really inexperienced with electrics and if the fuses are OK and the switch is OK I'll be at a dead loss
  11. I think they can be harder to insure too.
  12. Diesel and B&B's and spend the best part of a week laning in Wales ..... I can't think of a better use for £250 than that.
  13. That's why the 2.25 is coming out of my Series! Frightening MPG.
  14. Another vote for the excellent Disco bottle jack. I store mine under the passenger seat strapped in next to the battery.
  15. lol! Well if its Wheeler-Dealers it will certainly be repeated!
  16. Oh the Mark Evans one - the restoration phrase through me!
  17. Thanks for the excellent explanation John - apologies if I misled anyone.
  18. Hi John Hybrid from Hell has written some good material on Hydraulic set ups. Essentially there are two components - flow and pressure and as a useful (but not entirely correct) summary you can say that increased pressure increases your speed and increased flow increases the power. A PTO pump can produce substantially more flow and pressure than a power steering system - so it has scope to be both faster and more powerful.
  19. Les is right. There are two main places you'll get pointed to - the cheapest one is a chap in the 'Register' club, whose name escapes me. But if you were to post on there and ask for the name of the chap in the Register who supplies bolt kits - they'd point you in the right direction. Stephen
  20. Can you give any more information on the prognosis? What specifically has lead to it being condemned? Is the chassis sound? Socks, springs, bushes, ball joints worn? Being more specific would help pinpoint where to spend your money. :-D
