  1. Carlos - have you been checking with multi meter as crwoody said? or around fuse 15 as Gromit said?
  2. Why? Because you get an extra 2" of compression travel .... ?
  3. Les, Sorry to hear of you loss. I'm sure everyone would agree that you don't need to apologise to anyone. and welcome back - your an asset that the forum missed imo Stephen
  4. Absolutely love your photos. Magic. I've only done the lanes further up in Wales than those - Happy Valley is probably one of the southern most - I really must fit in another few days of Welsh lanes before the years out.
  5. I wanted to know how much to pay and how to pay. No bother though.
  6. 7. I tried to buy some slotted bushes from Haultech - but wasn't able to get enough replies from them to finish the transaction.
  8. I can always lend it back to him? and then recover it from the wreckage.
  9. I rounded the one on the head side when I did my EGR. Sadly it was the least accessible of the two allen bolts that fit into the exhaust manifold that turned out to have a head made of cheese… The allen bit just turned and rounded it out, so I tapped in a torx bit, and that just rounded it out that bit more. So I tapped in the next size and of course that rounded too. I did think about cutting the pipe to improve access and see if I could get a pair of grips on it - but then I'd be committed to getting it done and I needed the truck for work the next day. So I used a hack saw blade and started to cut a slot into the head - I had about 5-10mm of movement - so I did that until it was becoming mental torture and packed in for the night. I figured I'd drive it up to my friends, cut the pipe off, and try to weld a bolt onto the head. Next morning I thought I'd have another go with the hack saw blade and realised I'd made half decent progress the night before. So I tapped in a screwdriver bit and turned the ratchet … and it started to round off the head. Oops - running out of options. So I knocked in the largest scredriver bit I had - started to turn - it started to round … so I reveresed it and tightened it up a bit and then BINGO - it came un-done.
  10. A Mud pod in a discovery - from Mud's web site:
  11. Excellent progress! and a steadily growing list of people interested in a Td5 version ....
  12. There are 2 files that you need for the ECU - one is the map - and there is another one. So you need someone who has them and can flash them onto the ECU for you. I have a later type ECU on mine - though it was supplied as a replacement part by Land Rover - so has the correct type of files on it.
  13. I'd take the opportunity to fit a pair of gwyn Lewis std height turrets. Well worth it for future corrosion resistance.
  14. Is it just a replacement pan you wouldn't want welding or any welding? The Gwyn Lewis guards look good...
  15. Braided hoses are a worthwhile improvement.
  16. They had a radio expert on Radio4 recently who said that dab was only an interim technology - with Internet radio being the next development.
  17. If you do a search on here you'll find Ibexman speaks the truth!
  18. If you're jack is under the radius arm I'd expect it to be putting tension and weight onto the bolts you're going to try and remove. In the past I've done it just as Bush 65 said. You can chock the wheels too to try and minimise the axle rotating and keep things lined up a bit. The main thing will be releasing tension from the bolts you want to remove.
  19. That said I used a flexi link on my Td5 and was really impressed with the quality of it. It welded really well and was quite a substantial thing. Good price too. So if you were to cut the exhaust flange you could weld it directly to it - only question is if it would flex enough for you. Here is a thread with pics of my flexi pipe being fitted. This is the stuff I bought.
