Great write up šš» Thanks for sharing. I love the 6x6 and each time it appears in your posts I seem to focus on a different detail - like the graphics on it this time.
Itās a cool thing. Perhaps you could find a front end in the same blue and patina to match the doors and cab š
What are the plans for the mill? General usefulness or do you have a specific project in mind?
I love the 6x6
Great
Any plans for bracing your bench legs ? I was looking to see if youād bolted them to the floor - but they look freestanding?
Topical for me as Iām half way through making a new bench this weekend.
Last question! Whatās the plans for outside ? Are you leaving the step ? Or perhaps more concrete or more gravel?
Well - thatās slightly embarrassing š
I had stood the solid foot on a rubber block in the past and it made no difference - it just skipped across the surface. But I just went in the garage - found an old rubber foot from some furniture- found a cap head Allen bolt that fit up the middle - and what do you know ... no movement at all.
I guess sometimes the simplest things escape your attention. Youāve saved me putting an 18mm masonry bit into the concrete - or coming up with some complex frame.
Thank you
Next step probably ought to be to give it some TLC and work out how to check itās oil level.
Thanks again all.
Unbelievable.
I have a small 3hp twin cylinder compressor - with two wheels and a metal foot. I need to make the space itās in work harder and build a bench around - and Iām sick of how the foot vibrates across the floor .. I have a collection of rubber engine mounts so Iām wondering how to fix it.
So - do I mount it to the bench using the rubber mounts and run the risk of it vibrating that around - have it free standing (with the bench around it) but rawl bolt the front foot to the concrete? Perhaps with a rubber mount - or something else?
How has everyone else done this?
You can get longer 9/16 studs - but they are very expensive I understand.
If you have the double ended nuts, then the cheaper alternative would be to use to use the early BSF half nuts ... or is that what you are already using?
Taking the hub off isnāt that big a job though - so I wouldnāt be put off doing that ..?
So .... Horses out of the mix .... whatās the next steps ? Do I set up a go fund me page; called something like āCollection to take care of Cyclistsā ?
I think the biggest barriers Iāve seen to people adhering to the lock down has been either; that it doesnāt seem real to them or their intelligence ....
I think the vast majority of people have gone with it, either the spirit and letter or the restrictions, or at least to isolation. The ones who havenāt have either been on the news or an absolute minority observed in my local area.
Somehow I missed this. Must be really encouraging to see that all sit together!? Perhaps only a bit of fabrication away from rolling ?
Do you keep the original bulkhead even with the Willy panels ?
Are the drums staying ? š
