Fabulous ! I want to ‘like’ but the forum isn’t telling me I’ve done too many 🤷♂️. That motor is going to look right at home in the lightweight 😊
I like the heat shrink ... what’s the thinking behind it?
Im thinking of changing the dip stick on my 80 to that style, the 200 Defender has that short freestanding one, and if I can have it twisted to the front it should hopefully clear my exhaust.
Well .... I think they don’t build a massive pharma company without being somewhat ruthless and commercially astute. They’ll do the numbers and we will know which one was the most economically advantageous.... because they will choose it.
In someways that attitude is in part what gives me confidence that they’ll make the automotive business viable. They’re not just car enthusiasts or dreamers with no business sense.
This is a great thread ! And somehow I missed it. I was thinking ‘no updates on the lightweight for a while’ and then 32 pages of goodness to read. Great work Gazzar- can’t wait for this to jump threads and land into the Lightweight build. 😊
Tons of heat in cycles - from a blow torch. You can file the plug flat and get something to fit it nice and tight if you need to - a good adjustable works well.
This is quite a good read:

Two ex Land Rover staff reaction to the Grenadier. A chief Engineer who loves it and a former PR executive who doesn’t (and reads a bit like a fan boy to me 🤷🏻♂️ ).
Hmm - a Hi Lux is £26k start I think - so I was kind of thinking they’d aim to get it into the 30’s so there wasn’t such a big gap between basic utility choices now. 🤷🏻♂️?
Do you not think part of their brief was in effect to modernise the Defender ? I don’t think they would make it look like much else when that’s what Jim Radcliffe likes.
I like it - but there again I like the Defender!
I saw Ineos reply to a question on social media about price - saying it would be competitive with utility vehicles, I wonder what bracket that is ? Will it be the pickups ?
Good stuff here - thank you guys.
I’m having much more success upping the pressure. I’ve made a hole for the hoover to draw from and that’s made just the right amount of negative pressure. It’s loads better. Still more to do.
One thing I need to learn is when to replace the media - I notice that the hoover caught quite a lot of media to start with that still felt abrasive To the the touch - so I put that back in the pot. The next time I emptied it - a lot of it felt just like powder. I tipped it back in but then reflected that I should probably be sieving that out.
I still need a more flexible hose - it’s a pain to use as it is. But it’s coming together as a useable set up. I’m very grateful for everyone’s input.
