  1. Hi I did a week on Corsica last May,all off roading. It was absolutly fantastic. Ther Desert d' Aggrigats in the North of the island is good, though, not very challenging. Lots of good off roading around Zonza, which is inland from Ajaccio. Found an amasing washed out track, that was a real challenge. Excuse my Brummy mates comentry. I loved it so much I'm going back in October this year. Marc
  2. For me,it has to be a roof tent. My current set up is a James Baroud, with Foxwing awning. Horses for corses, everyone has their own preferences. Marc
  3. Looks like you had a great trip, thanks for the photo's. Marc
  4. I'm not quite sure what you mean there Passing phase. Ferry....It's a big boat, that takes passengers & vehicles. Seriously though. We got the ferry from Toulon to Bastia in the North of Corsica, did a very full tour of the island, then returned to Toulon from Ajaccio on the South West coast. We went at the begining of May,so the price was a lot cheaper than it is in the summer months. The off roading available is amongs the best I have found in more than 10 years all over Europe. Hope this answers your questions. Marc
  5. I've had one fitted to my 300tdi for around 6 years.Had no problems at all with it, I've just changed the pads for generic JCB 3cx pads off the bay of Eeeee,IIRC think they cost about a tenner,as oposed to the 40 odd quid Foundry 4x4 charge for them. Marc
  6. As some of you may know from my previous posts. I have been planning a trip to Corsica for a while now. So,we got back from a 6 day trip a couple of weeks ago. I did quite a lot of research to plot off road routes mainly from Wickiloc.I only planned to do tracks graded as difficult or expert only,as the lesser graded tracks,I find you could drive in most family cars. We cretainly wren't dissapointed, every day we had to drive sections of track that required low box & difflock.& ever the rear air locker was called into service on one occasion. The island of Corsica is stunning, with mountains upto 2000m & beaches to rival the Carribean. Here are a few pics for your enjoyment. Enjoy, Marc
  7. Hi all.Does anyone know the current weather conditions in the Spanish Pyrenees, specificaly Catalonia.I have looked on the usual weather web sites & temperatures are up.But,I could do with knowing how much snow is left on the high mountain passes though.I'm looking to have a few days down there in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks a lotMarc.
  8. Thanks western I'll check that out tomorrow. Marc
  9. No, not the blue one for the high beam. The green one for the side/headlights.
  10. Ooooops,should have said,its a 300tdi. Marc
  11. Hello lads & lassesI have a bizzar problem with the headlight ON light on the dash.It stays on all the time, wether the lights are on or not.Not causing any other problems, except bugging me.Can anyone give any ideas where to start looking?CheersMarc
  12. I have just had a major issue with my clutch. Long story cut short,it wouldn't go into gear with the engine running, fine when not running.I went through all the same hydraulic possibilitys as you have.I took the gearbox & clutch out 4 times. Anyhow, after advice from a well respected member on another forum,he suggested the friction plate might be slightly bent. I changed the plate,et voila,no more problems. Marc
  13. I suppose the pushrod could have come out of the slave whilst disconected. I'll have a prod in the slave hole in the bell housing to see if I can tell if the fork & release bearing are located properly. Thanks Marc
  14. After spending the last 2 days replacing the seal at the rear of the flywheel,I finaly got everything back together, tried the clutch & the pedal went straight to the floor.I looked underneath, there was clutch fluid leaking out of the wading plug hole in the bell housing. I took out the slave cylinder & the piston was completely out of the cylinder. The push rod was in place in the clutch fork. Any ideas what I have done wrong,or why it's done this? Thanks in advance. Marc
  15. I fitted one in my 2007, 90.without removing the sides. As Arjan says cover all the glass,as grinder sparks will mark/pit glass. I took the front seats & carpets out, then a big clean up with the vac. Go steady with the grinder,I use 1mm cutting discs. Marc
  16. Just a quick update on this problem. Turned out to be the earth strap from the battery to the chassis/transfer box. Cleaned it up & re fitted,up to yet gauge has not gone above normal/vertical. Thanks for the ideas & all your imput fellas.Much aprechiated.Marc
  17. Theres a bit of a story behind this one,so bear with me. Last May whilst in the Pyrenees my 300tdi started running a bit hot,not off the scale, just touching the red area on the gauge. So me thinks, thermostat is Fubared,so I took it out.All good, once warmed up gauge reads normal. I have run it al the rest of this year with the thermostat minus the middle which I punched out.I read somewhere it's not good to run totaly without a stat. Now the werather is much colder,I thiught I'd replace the Thermostat. So,motor warms up nice & quickly now,but not long after reaching normal operating temp it rises to just under the red.If I turn the lights or fan on the temp gauge goes right up into the red immediately. So, I'm thinking something electrical,I have changed the temp sensor & stat.Do you think bad earth,& if so where would you suggest I start looking? Thanks a lot guys. Marc.
  18. Glad your enjoying yourself. Maybee the series 2 has been moved, ater all it is 2 or 3 years since I was on that track. Marc
  19. Have a look at James Baroud RTT's. https://www.devon4x4.com/off-road-store/expedition-and-travel/tents-and-awnings.html?p=4 I have one,the quality is hard to beat,& they go up in seconds, all your bedding is stored inside,so straight into bed. Marc
  20. This will be our first trip of the year. Setting off either the first or second week in May 2016,I have Vibraction road book 4,so we will be following this route. http://vibraction.pagesperso-orange.fr/espagne/rb_4.htm It's all in French, but you can get an idea of the route. We are planning to do it in 5 to 6 days, with wild camping, camp sites & probably a hotel or 2 for SWMBO. As we live in France,we will be heading south from where we are based, down the A75 so that we can do the Millau, something I have always wanted to see. If anyone is interested in tagging along, for some of the route,or all of it,you would be more than welcome. Marc.
  21. WOW...... That looks fantastic robsol. Some where I too would like to visit.
  22. Why will it need bleeding? I have only unbolted the slave cylinder from the bell housing & tucked it up out of the way whilst changing the clutch. Thanks Marc
