  1. Thats the same way i did mine. took about 20 tons though in the press to get it out. (though it looked like it had been in there since new (24 years) and about 8 to get the new one in pressed the bushes out at the same time tey took nearly 30 tonns.
  2. that makes it around the 2600 mark. ive alway swondered as when i rebuilt it the rear eybrows have december 1982 written in permanent marker on the underside. the engine number (it was a 2.1/4 diesle) before i converted it is 10j000**B which has always intrigued me! i only know of a few other y reg 110s but they are station wagons and a hicap not hard-top like mine. Cheers for the info Edd
  3. i have a similar query about my 110. its registred May 1983 so is quite early. i have had no luck with gaydon as they only seem to have the records for series and range rover. Whre dose the chassie number info for each year come from? also what chassie number is the first 110? Cheers Edd
  4. i also run two pc1700 in the 110 which are exelent (though not cheep by a longshot!) i for engine and viechle sytems the other for expedition stuff lighting frig ect. they are paired through a splitcharge for use when winching. Edd
  5. No Probs. Give us a weeek or so and ill include photos of the curent install in the 110. (its all in bits at the moment) Edd Edit. I should add sticking to the o.p that the split charge system that i use is very similar to simons x-charge (infact almost the same ) and i havent had any probs at all (its not the ultimate and has a few flaws but works well enough)
  6. If you are running an in car pc then you realy need to use a proper in car 12v power supply which can handle 6- 20 volts so no spikes are sent on the power rail of the pc. The benifit of them is there are a few that can be set to control the startup and shutdown of the pc aswell on the ignition as well as for low voltage ect. Let us know if you need any more advice on the pc /split charge stuff as ive been running one now for quite a while and have done quite a few installs. Edd
  7. yes unfortunatly. The ladder frame prevents acces to the bottom of the engine and can only be removed by taking the flywheel housing off the engine to get to two bolts that run horivontaly into the back of the frame. HTH Edd
  8. in typical fasion the head gasket has gone on the 110. Not uncommon i know but i rebuilt the engine (where I replaced the gasket and put new bolts ect in) about 6000 miles ago so am not that inpressed. When i checked eariler there is a lot of gass bubling up in the header tank (and some oil round the front og the head) so am pretty sure its gone. (also on the last 3 times i have started it from cold it has burnt a bit of oil for about 3 or 4 seconds after starting) I am replcing the gasket and having the head crack tesed and skimmed next week. all pretty straitforward. but i would like to know why it went (as im driving to morocco in less that two months.) The only thing i can think of that may have caused it is when the fan belt snapped whilst driving up a very steep road in north wales with nowhere to pull in (and a large lorry following) the engine got up to the red on the guage then, but seemed allright when i replaced the belt and has done about 3000 miles since then. Is there anything else that i should be checking? (most things are new or reconned on the 110) Edd
  9. i usde infomap navigator 6 in the 110 which i find quite good. navigator
  10. I would recomend the sirf iii recivers as hav had one in the 110 for ages and it has never lost it ssignal. i personaly would stear clear of the bluetooth ones as having to remember to charge the battery is never my strong point. i also have not had any probles running the gps on usb 1 or 2 but i could be locky. i also use a small program call xport which will allow you to run mor than one gps app at once. Edd
  11. Glad you had a good day. Was hard work setting it up but very enjoyable. i was supprised more motors didnt get stuck in the carpark! Oh and if you wrer wondering yes that is me sliding down the hill in the second pic (whilst tryingto take pictures myself). Edd

    In car PC

I dont have any experiance of that box ut i do have a mini ITX based computer running in a custom case in the 110 which i use for memory map, sat nav, accurate spedo ect (though i realy must get round to installing it properly) . The dvd drive i use is a laptop drive in an external usb2 enclosure and works great. I run it through an 8 inch screen mounted on the dash which will be moulded into a td5 style console when i get some spare time. its been running on an old hard drive for about 18 months and so far its all held together fine though if you do plan on making one i would use a laptop drive as they are march hardier. if you want more info one of the best places at the momnet is http://www.digital-car.co.uk Edd
  13. Dont know if its of any help but here the best pic at the moment i can find of the bulkhead without any of the tunnle in place. The row of square holes are what the lt77/r380 adaptor plate bit ataches to. This part of the bulkhead was exactly the same as the bulkhead that came off which was a a 1983 2.1/4 diesle one Edd.
  14. I have fitted a 300tdi bulkhead to my 110 a few months ago. As it was the r380 tunnel piece can be unbolted and the relavent bit for the lt77 put on so that it matches up with the lt77 tunnle. I seem to remeber that the td5 ones dont have this as its all pressed as one (though i could well be wrong) i had to do no other mods to make it fit. Edd
  15. Ive gto a pic of teh ignition on my 2.25 diesle 110 which i can dig out for you in the morning if that helps. (would do it now but am stuck at work) Edd
  16. I was looking for a 150 liter compresor a couple of month ago. In the end i settled for machinmart which i manage to get vat free on on eof their sale days. Seems to be very good so far. only thing is you need the filter regulator and a bit of pipework as extras. Edd
  17. If you use an early 110 servo then you dont need to chop the inner wings around as they are alot smaller. Edd
  18. well it probably fell on the floor when i was checking the engine prior to fitting. But... The workshops been compleatly rearanged the 110 moved out an and other motors moved so its probably quicker for me to go and get one tham turnm the workshop over trying to find it... I am shure my parts book doesnt have that number listed. on the injector pump page all the other bolts are listed but not this one?? Anyway Cheers Edd
  19. I managed to damage the thred on an ome front shock. I didnt realise (ok it was late) that they are fine thread and as a nut was missing just substituted it for what i thought was an eqivalent (albeit coarse thread.) I now have a shock whos bottom thread starts metric coarse an ends metric fine! I can guess the answere but does anyone have any ideas as to how to repair? The damaged thread is the bit te athe nylock will grip and not the part that the nut itself will be on. Its just i dont want to shell out more money if i dont have to Edd
  20. I managed to drop the small banjo bolt that is on the back of the injector pump on a 200tdi. (it is for the pipe conecting to the turbo) i have checked on the parts manual but its not listed. anyone know where to get one or just the size and threads would do. Cheers. Edd
  21. Composirte screens are good at showing video but are usless at displaying fine details text etc that can be useful on gps. I have a custom pc built (it was and will be again when the 110 is back together) into the 110. It runs of a dc-dc converter which can cope down to about 6 volts. I have an 8 inch touch screen built into the dash which is from linitx They are good screens and the smaller 7 inch would be spot on. They also have two composite inputs which i use like simon for a reversing camera and front mounted camera. these can be switched from the dash. B) 110 install before i fitted it poperly Any question just shout and ill try and help Edd
  22. Not shure about on pas boxes but definatly on the manual box in the 110 there is a adjusting nust and locknut that allow you to take up the slack. Needs to be checked accross the whole steering range though. Im sure there someone here that can clarify. Edd
  23. Im looking at going next year once the 110 has been proven. Is there anything that i should be mindfull of? extra charegs etc And what are the best places to go to?
