Got another one, the connections for the rear lights are as far as I have found out red , green/purple trace black = side/ stop lights red/yellow trace fog lights green/white and green/red indicators green/brown trace reverse what are the red/black trace wires for ? cheers Ian
  2. Cheers vulcan bomber sort of stumbled on to that one just whilst doing the td5 clocks upgrade, as you can tell I'm a novice at this. So what are the colour of the wires that the wires off the gearbox need to be attached too ? As the extension supplied with the new loom that goes from the main loom on to the gearbox is also 2 black wires All help much appreciated cheers Ian
  3. Hi all, upgraded the gearbox on my 110 200tdi project to an r380 stumpy from Ashcrofts and I'm just fitting my new wiring loom came to wiring the reverse in off the gearbox and I'm stuck . I've got 2 black wires coming off the gearbox and a black/blue trace off the chassis loom, do I connect one of the wires from the gearbox to the black/blue wire and then earth other or connect both to the black/blue wire ? any help would be much appreciated cheers Ian
  4. Cheers western, I did search and read the posts you are on about but what's confusing me is I only have the large brown wire, large white wire, small white/red wire and small white/orange wire. I don't appear to have a white/black wire, is this normal did the wiring change or have I missed the wire some where ? if the wires I've got are correct do I still not connect the white/orange or do I connect this were the white/black should go ? cheers Ian
  5. Hi all, can anyone tell me which coloured wire goes to which terminal on the ignition switch from a 1993 110 csw 200 tdi please? I have done a search but can't find any thing to help me they all seem to be for conversions or the ignition switch looks older than mine . cheers Ian
  6. When I replaced my wiper motor on my project (its a 110 200tdi but according to book its the same part) I didn't put the rubber pad in the back to start with and there was a lot of play ,found the pad put it in and it was a tight fit then. I thought the same as you that the pad wouldn't fill it but it did.
  7. Paddocks sell one called Skytag was thinking of fitting one myself it's £114 don't know if its any good but I have heard and read a few posts were they were mentioned.
  8. Hi all, I was about to fit these seals to mine. I've read that you can fit the newer seals (bottom of the door type) to older defenders, mines a 200 tdi csw. Is it an upgrade worth doing do the newer seals work better ? They are cheaper than the old seals. cheers Ian
  9. Hi all, does anyone know the part numbers for the rubber mounting bushes that fit in the radiator mounting frame to mount the rad in ? And also the frame mounting bushes that fit in the chassis ? There for a 200 tdi 110, cheers all Ian
  10. Cheers Western, thought thats what the fitting looked like off Retroanacondas write up on Land Rover technical blog, but I thought I'd check. cheers Ian
  11. Hi all, I am about to start my instrument upgrade to TD5 clocks, does anyone know a part number or which plug I need to fit to change the 200 tdi spade connector for the coolant temperature sender on the engine bay loom to one that fits the 300 tdi sender I need to fit to make the TD5 temperature gauge work ? cheers Ian
  12. Hi all, I purchased a 70amp alternator from an auto electronics firm not far from me it has connections as per the photo below in the bottom left corner there is a ring terminal marked auxiliary battery positive or split charging relay. I know not a lot about auto electrics but does this mean when i install my split charge kit, instead of running a positive wire from the starter battery through the fuse to the split charge relay to the 2nd fuse then to the leisure battery . I can run the positive from this connection on the alternator to the relay and then onto the leisure battery instead or have I got it all wrong , cheers Ian
  13. Hi, just saw on ebay salop 4x4 selling ex mod new 110 heavy duty Salisbury axles and diff for £640 if that's any good for you cheers
  14. Hi, I've already got the split charge kit brought it off amazon its got a vsr , two fuse boxes one for each battery that sits between the vsr and the battery, and a fuse box so you can wire things directly into the leisure battery. But as for usage I will be fitting a winch, which will be used occasionally but I do a lot of carp fishing and plan to do more night fishing so a fridge will be purchased at a later date so bait and food can be kept fresh plus plan on fitting other extras,. I do realise that I need to fit an isolater switch for the winch . cheers Ian
  15. Hi all, I've got to the point were I'm about to fit the split charge kit to my 110. I know battery choice is personal, I've searched on here and apart from the usual optima and odyssey options which are a bit expensive the other reasonable options I come across were the numax cxv 30 hrmf for £80 a piece and the yuasa 019 which I found for £86 a piece on ebay. I wondered if anyone on here that uses either of these has had any problems with them or has anybody got any better suggestions ? cheers Ian
  16. Hi all, just overhauled the front axle new swivel ball, bearings and all and I fitted new bronze bushes in the rear of the stub axle (part no FRC4319) put the hub on and the shafts wont come out far enough. After stripping it down it appears the cv joints wont go into the bronze bushes is it normal when fitting new bushes to have to tap the stub axles down onto the shafts or should they be free moving as the old ones were ? cheers Ian
  17. Will do Mo, will be a while tho have just finished the chassis and rear axle and am putting the front axle and suspension back on this weekend. Will post some pics up then, cheers Ian
  18. Cheers all, contacted them and think Red90 is right its not a hybrid its just got uprated bearings and seals . But contacted NKK via there web page and got a response they sell an uprated T28 core modified cold side housing and uprated actuator for a 200 tdi that you can bolt on yourself for £380 which is reasonable so gonna look into that cheers Ian
  19. Hi all, on my rebuild project I'm planning on upgrading the turbo to either a hybrid or vnt unit, and while browsing ebay I came across these for sale from a firm called Turbo Rebuild LTD in lancs ( link below). There listed as a UPGRADED STAGE 1 HYBRID TURBO CHRA CARTRIDGE KIT FOR A DEFENDER OR DISCOVERY 200 TDI at £225 which is a lot cheaper than the full upgrade units. Is this a purchase that the more experienced members on here would recommend or would the advice be to leave this sort of job to the turbo experts ? Or has anyone on here done this upgrade on there own turbo and could offer any advise ? cheers all Ian http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Uprated-Hybrid-ST1-Turbo-CHRA-465171-465175-Land-Rover-Defender-Discovery-200tdi-/321875737193?hash=item4af149fa69:g:eKIAAOSw9r1WBTKZ
  20. Hi all, can anyone tell me the best way to remove the bronze bush from the back of the front stub axle so I can replace the oil seal ? I'm presuming you can re-use them. cheers Ian
  21. Hi, don't know who you tried but had mine done at Potteries diesel came back like new, so you could try them there based in Hanley in Stoke. Can't give you a rough price as I had them done through a friend. Ian
  22. Hi all, will be starting the refurb of my front axle shortly on a 93 reg 110 station wagon, the mud shields on the front look about shot. As I understand from the parts manual the correct parts are frc 6402 and frc 6403 Looked on Britcar and the price for a pair is about 80 quid if I've got the parts correct . So was wondering if anyone has fitted the newer mud shields from a 300tdi to there's as they're no where near that price or if its possible to do so cheers Ian
  23. cheers Scotts90 thats helped alot looks like my bank holiday's sorted in the shed out of the rain cheers Ian
