  1. i hate to jump on you about this but your statement about all garages having the bad batch of fuel is not true for starters tescos morrisons asda and some others get there fuel in the south east from a company called vopak there fuel is bought in by boat from refineries in places like germany and russia the only exception to this is BP, sainsburys and shell which load out of coryton which obviously refines the fuel themselves and esso which i believe brings it in from there refinery in germany the other thing is vopak i believe bring in biofuel not refined from crude which could also be an issue just my 2p worth of course this time round the above are safe but that dont mean they always are Frank
  2. Sounds like a typical land rover engine to me a bit of smoke when cold then nothing when warmed up other than maybe a little on idle unless it was a brand new engine which with 150000 on it isnt but then that is only just run in Frank
  3. I done about 250 miles one way from devon and wear wasnt noticable but i could hear the sound of singing rubber for 2 days after Frank

  5. They are called Continentals you can get them from DURITE agents last time i came across them they were about 60 quid but are very good especially if you can recess them and put some kind of guard on them Frank

I have an ipaq with tom tom 5 on it and a seperate bluetooth gps unit i also have lots of OS maps on paper i hear everybody talking about memory map is this the OS maps in digital form? and if so what exactly do i need to get to have it running on my pda? and i am assuming it works on the same principle as tom tom and it alters the map according to your location any help would be gratefully received Cheers Frank

Having been in the recovery game for a while i have had to tow loads of old wrecks and other interesting things the most relevant to us was these landy ambulances which i had to take from tilbury docks to chelsea barracks as you can see these were not used in the iraq war but were kept as spares i had to load them up on my own they are left hookers and i had to get out of the back door just a little bit of a squeeze as i didnt know if it would go in there or not Fords car transporters could only be straight barred as they run at nearly 16' 6" anyway This is the problem with going down country lanes too quickly when you dont know what cargo you have on board The people i picked this up for told me that the driver had hit a branch and twisted the frame a bit and needed it delivered from essex to aylesford in kent i got some funny looks going down the m20 with that on the back. the rear doors were overhanging by about 6' This wasnt me but i found myself stuck behind it for quite some time as the driver of the unit who is on the other side of the roundabout and the driver of the trailer (the man walking behind with the remote) struggled to get this plane hull which was going to be used as an office in holland out of southend to harwich he also had a blowout on the trailer the roundabout before this one Frank

As a Bp tanker driver we have started delivering this its called ultimate 102 and is around the 2.50 mark it is supposed to be used in race cars or cars that have been setup for the track it is a road legal fuel but i dont think bp intended it to be used as a road fuel i think it was just put in regular filling stations to make it more widely avaliable dont think not everybody who goes racing be it circuits or anywhere else actually lives next door to where they are racing Frank

  15. i shall have to have a word with him then i already have a dico disc braked rear axle but the edge wear the seal goes has a deep groove in it and lets the water in every time i go anywhere near it so i want to change both rears the fronts dont need doing as one is new and the other doesnt look that old anyway i am changing the swivels because they are pitted Frank

  17. Where is the best place to get a pair of rear stub axles for an early disco and front swivel assemblies for my 200tdi defender as i am doing a major overhaul and would like to change the lot and what sort of price would you say was good for the above Thanks in advance Frank
  18. Rather than use thick plate just use the thin plate and weld a nut with the thread you want to the front of it or a collar and thread that Frank

  20. Which one of the co-drivers are you Frank? Im the fat one at the front doing an impression of stopping the motor from falling over it was my first co drive which would explain the fact of why i was wearing wellies (expecting lots of water) i now have blisters all over not to mention lots of cuts and barbed wire scrapes got to get myself a lot fitter for the next event and not spend an hour playing football in the car park the night before the fact that my driver has a heavy right foot as it got us out of a few places that i wouldnt have tried as i normally drive but cant afford to run on these events.well done to everybody else who took part was some seriously hard work going on and some brilliant driving sorry to those who suffered major damage better luck next time Cheers Frank
  21. Dunno if they are Jim's work but the truck did have some Gigglepin 4x4 stickers on it. I was the winch b1tch on this motor and the arms were done at gigglepin was an awesome day and bloody hard work thoroughly enjoyed it though and cant wait til the next one Frank

I am currently running my 200tdi defender on somerfields special at 49pa litre50/50 with diesel and would say that the performance is ever so slightly better and it doesnt smoke as bad as before but the best thing is the smell is a lot more pleasent one of our club members runs his 200tdi on 100% veggie oil for a year now and has had no issues with it at all while another runs his td5 disco on it and only has problems when he runs too much oil in the winter as it doesnt like being started from cold Frank

If they ask you to click on any link outside of there own site or ask for personal details it is 100% a scam but if they ask you to log on via the genuine natwest site then it is possibly real best way is to forward the email to natwest i do that with all ebay and barclays scams i get through Frank
  24. So belt contamination was the cause just from a different substance i did forget to mention that all the belts i have done had a slimey sort of feel to them when removed so at least now we know there is another seal to double check before putting the timing cover back on. When i removed my wading plug after the belts wnt no water ame out so i assume it turned to steam and the steam weakened the belt which i suppose is another use for the timing cover breather. I suppose the guy will be taking the evidence back to the garage that done the belt Frank
