  1. I did the same swap last year very easy job other than the 300/v8 flang needed cutting to get it off the pinion, i fitted new BP caliper's with mintex disc's and pads never had a problem
  2. Ok it sounds like a good plan so i will give it a go during Easter as i am off then
  3. Will I get away with just doing the back axle rather than both axles
  4. Hi guys My 90 is fitted with a + 2'' lift and 265/75 x 16 tyres and the 90 stands at 6'9'', the barrier at my local tip is set at 6'6'' so the 90 won't go under and have been going to where the wagons go and use the weighbridge which is ok but they only allow you to go twice a day where as if the 90 could go under the barrier I can go there as many times as I want. so i am thinking as i have a spare set of wheels would fitting 205 / 55 x 16 tyres get me under the barrier ?
  5. We've decided to go Bronze Green with Limestone roof and sides
  6. Thats ok if the pulley doesn't push the seal in when tightened up as the new seal will end up fully home and the groove will end up in the same place as the new seal so the seal will wear again in no time, best way is to get the grove welded up then machined down
  7. Yeah if we was keeping the 2a I would do that but the 2a will be sold once its done to part fund my sons wedding hence why we are doing it together
  8. The thing is we want to keep it as standard as possible so it will probably end up either rebuilding our zenith or replace it with a weber
  9. Are right didn't think of that, i also noticed the choke is seized open and it starts first time without choke ( Zenith ) so the carb mite need fettling but as its going to be a full nut and bolt rebuild it would only be right to replace the carb with a new one and i know these new ( jap ) Zenith carbs are rubbish. have the weber carbs got any better or are they still rubbish aswell as the carb problem back in the early naughties was the reason i went TDI with my last 2a
  10. Yeah it looks that way, yesterday whilst i had it running in the garage and the sun was out there was a haze of blue smoke with a strong fumie smell but i'm not sure if its the fuel that is in it as we don't really know how old the fuel is but it seems to start and runs ok or if its valve stem seals so now we know the comp's are good i mite aswell wip the head off and have it re-con'd and if it needs it have the head converted to unleaded as I am not sure its been done
  11. Made a start on the 2a yesterday and whilst i had the engine running to do a comp test i removed all 3 doors and cleared the back out and found a brand new starting handle, a first and secon'd part land rover w/s manuals and an haynes manual and inside the hanes manual there was some info that it had a set of points fitted in 1998 at 72880 miles and the mileage on the clock reads 73305 miles so its only done 425 miles since 1998 then after doing the comp test ( between 175-180 psi ) I removed the seat box and checked the s/n on the g/box and its still sporting its Suffix F box which I am quite happy about, pic's later
  12. Cheer's guys, i thought it was good but thought i would ask as the Haynes manual say's 145 psi for a 7:1 and 160 psi for an 8:1 so wasn't sure if it had been beefed up in any way as I once had a 2a with a stage 1 head on a new recon'd short motor and was getting 190 psi. with the engine running in the garage and it being a sunny day I noticed a haze of blue smoke with a strong fumy smell which I am hoping is either the fuel that's in it is going off or its valve stem seals so as I am not sure if its had the head done for unleaded fuel I will send the head in for recon'ding and if it needs converting to unleaded it will be done at the same time
  13. Hi guys I have just done a comp test on the 2a engine and no 1 and 2 cyls are reading 180 psi and no's 3 and 4 are reading 170 psi what do you think Engine no is 24133059A
  14. Some of the front and rear of the interior but was unable to open the rear door which we will need to do to clear the back out ready for stripping
  15. Well after doing a couple of tip runs, sorting the garage out and jump starting the 2a with my 90 the 2a is now in the garage so this weekend coming we will be making a start first with doing a compression test on the engine
  16. Ha yeah I no what you mean when we started to put the 90 back together and start painting the inside of the tub we removed all the factory carpet that was covering the wheel arches and last night going picking the roof up with my trailer was really its first mini long trip out since replacing the chassis last month and wow it was noisy compared to how it was so I think we will be getting some new sound proofing in at some point?
  17. Sorry and the same for where the alpine's would be
  18. Oh well we will just have to see but thanks for the heads up
