  1. In the end i chickened out as i didn't want to chance it and something going wrong but found out from another sorce that the lift pump should be fitted with a spacer, but as the old one that i removed as a matter of corse didn't have one i didn't realise it had to have one so hopefully a spacer should do it
  2. Hi guys Reset the throttle linkage on a 200tdi FIP pump meaning removing the complete linkage from the splined shaft as the one on the new engine / FIP pump is all set wrong as the govorner comes in we'll before the plate reaches the stop, is there anything to worry about before i do it.
  3. Cheer's teamidris I just didn't want to damage the pump that's all
  4. Hi guys Is it ok to start and run the engine up for a while to check for leaks and general running of the new to me engine as my original pipe, pipe that came with the engine and the new disco pipe I have just bought all won't fit due to wrong fittings on the pipes to the disco pump ( Def 90 to Disco 200tdi engine ) as I really need to run the engine up and I don' t have a belt long enough to bypass the pump or alternator
  5. I bought a brand new original one off eBay for £15 last year, you still see them every now and then
  6. Not saying yours is or has had but when I bought mine 1988 90 there was the remains of a split charger system but don't think it was still working so we ripped it out
  7. Sorry Maverik my last post was meant for you, i managed to remove the S.P. Pipe and removed the clutch pipe to make an additional bracket to come off the original bracket using the old pipe fixing hole to secure the new bracket too with pipe fixed to the new additional bracket, cheers for the tip
  8. I will wip the exhaust manifold off complete with the S.P. down pipe tomorrow, make a bracket to come off the original bracket as Lewis said should be ok then
  9. Are right so it's just a matter of connecting the old wiring to the new alternator then
  10. Hi guys As you may know i have just converted my 90 from Def 200tdi to Disco 200tdi but was previously a 2.5td, the wiring looks like it's been upgraded before for using a 65amp alternator when it was a Def 200tdi there are 3 wires 2 thick brown wires and 1 thin brown and white wire and i have just bought a 120amp alternator kit with even thicker wiring, the kit comprises of a 120amp alternator and a length of thick red wire with eye connectors fitted. Any idea' s how I go about wiring the new alternator in as there isn't any wiring diagram with it.
  11. That looks easy enough, probably easier to remove the exhaust manifold as i can't remove the down pipe with the clutch pipe being there. I wouldn't mind but i was constantly watching it when putting the engine in and looked liked there was plenty of room and didn't bother afterwards
  12. Hi guys I fitted the Disco 200 in my 90 last weekend but only just noticed this today whilst fitting a few bits n bobs and noticed the new Steve Parker conversion down pipe close if not touching the steel clutch pipe to flexi pipe bracket as i can't get my fingers in to feel but would the fluid in the pipe get to hot with the exhaust being that close or am i best if i can make an heat shield to go in between the down pipe and clutch pipe bracket
  13. It's the power steer pump pulley it has two vee grooves one large and one small not sure which one but think the larger one drives the aternator
  14. I have tried everything swaps over but the Disco double pulley won't fit the boss as the defender boss is bigger than the inside of the double pulley and the bolt holes for fixing the pulley in place are slightly different configuration
  15. Hi guys I am in the middle of replacing my worn out Def 200tdi engine to Disco 200tdi originally it was a 90 2.5td the power steer pipe on my Def 200 is the original pipe from when it was a 2.5td but will not fit the Disco pump so i am looking at replacing the pipe and need a part number please
  16. Cheer's it's just that we get the Landy ready for off roading and forget to fit the plugs in so with the new engine going in with new gaskets and seals fitted I will fit the plugs but keep an eye on them
  17. Hi guys When not off roading do you normally take them out or leave them in, i have been running with them in for months then read somewhere you should always take them out but son did Silverdale last week and Kirton yesterday and on both occations forgot to fit them so i am thinking of fitting them in and leaving them in, what do you guys do.
