  1. In the words of the 2 coolest movie stars... There are 106 miles to Chicago minutes to till bath time, we have a full tank of gas a bottle of vodka, half a packet of cigarettes hob nobs, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses hats n coats. Time to start throwing some paint about! yes the ground outside the workshop is sloped so the Landy sits at an odd angle
  2. I’ve been told to tell you that I’m not allowed to tell you what colour it is until the chief colour picker has said I can but some of you are right 😁
  3. It is something that has piqued my interest. @LiamC thread is very interesting although he’s run a manual, I think more reading is due on the auto box ecu set up though
  4. The clues to the colour is somewhere in the thread since I talked about it. Other than the monsters inc reference, it does feature on a Bowler Bulldog too...I reckon that was a subconscious decision too
  5. We spent lockdown learning how to tie die our clothes and make flip flops from old tyres so who knows 😂
  6. I’ve been told to tell you the colour features in Monsters Inc. Quite a lot apparently.
  7. Pink panthers or pinkies as we called them. No it's not that colour although one of my choices was Libyan Sand, however as we're going to be abroad for years at a time in areas that might be a little hostile or trigger happy, I figured I'd stay away from anything that could look military! We've done 4 doors and just got in and decided to do the front of the truck tomorrow as I can get that into the workshop out of the weather.
  8. The doors arrived safely and were unpacked and marvelled at and then the missus looks at me and says ' I've had an idea ' We were never happy with the original Landy colour, it's a bit boring if I'm honest and so we ventured down to the local paint shop to look for a new idea. And we found it And now the workshop has been turned into a spray shop and I'm wondering why I put myself through this sort of thing when I've got a list as long as my arm to do already The colour? Unlike Binky, I won't make you wait 9 months to find out
  9. At the beginning of the video, around £40k for a commercial variant ( +Vat ) and £45k ( he didn’t say it was +Vat but i can’t see it not being ). These are speculated figures at the moment based on current trends I figured it would be a base price of about £30k which puts it in a price range for an average joe like me to consider, but I don’t produce cars and only go on what I see available . As Deep said, it’s a bespoke vehicle and I see an interesting idea here but it’s being priced outside my means and as someone who would love to carry on using a defender/ grenadier type vehicle, I don’t think I’d be alone in being put off by the base price.
  10. A 110 from the factory in basic form was costing £29k at the end of the run, a Grenadier is costing £50k, that's alot more for something that maybe bespoke, but hasn't reinvented the wheel don't you think? It'll be great i'm sure, but there's not many people who can afford such a vehicle which if i'm honest, doesn't do much that plenty of other vehicles in this market do already.
  11. I don't understand why you would want 2 spare wheels when it's a simple operation to change a wheel on the roadside/bush and just carry spare tyres. A single spare wheel is good to get you out of a carp situation, but once stopped, tyre changing is a simple operation with basic tools.
  12. I love under ' Exterior ' it just says tow hitch You have to listen to the video to get the real deal
  13. 2nd hand market is touch n go. I was lucky with my Alu top doors as i bought a pair for £450 but the NS bottom part was damaged and i had to replace it, but there are the alu tops only at £450 a piece recently on Ebay. Those that want them know their worth, those that sell them, also seem to know their worth but now and then you'll find someone selling them who has no idea, but not very often. Sp4x4 do the galvanised framed alu tops for £92+VAT which if you're looking for something that'll last, it's not a bad compromise
  14. The thing is, you can be properly proud of what you have achieved. Well done fella
  15. I have indeed The Puma doors are heavy and full of electric window stuff and quite frankly, not what i wanted. I sold the 4 doors to a chap on Def2 who was building up a 130 and bought a pair of front military split doors will alu tops. The 2nd row were abit more difficult to source as i wanted sliding windows and lift up handles and as far as i could tell, LR only produced these ' safari ' style 1 piece doors in a limited time frame on the S3? I could be wrong, but they are pretty difficult to get hold of. I found a pair of aftermarket doors which were one piece, slidey windows and lift up handles and were, to put it mildly, carp. The Os door doesn't follow the contour of the truck so there's a 15mm gap at the lock and the NS door frame is 10mm out along the top so standard glass wont fit! I had to get some perspex made up to fit in which in hindsight isn't the end of the world as it saves on weight Then along came an original NS safari door from Paddocks, old stock which i bought with another aftermarket door, which actually fitted but looked like it has been used as a sledge at a gravel quarry. ( on my videos you can see i have a light coloured 2nd row door ) Spending too much money i'd had enough of carp lock locations on the doors which means the strikers are spaced out by nearly 10mm, gaps, leaks and all sorts on the aftermarket OS door and bought the SP4x4 versions which i am assured will fit with no issues. I also paid extra for the cappings to continue the line from the front doors onto the rear doors and then down the rear panels. Now i have 2 sets of 2nd row doors, one set which will give you a laugh should you try and fit them, the second set will fit but will require some TLC and of course my shiny new set from SP4x4 I just need to work out the colour of the door i currently have as i've fallen in love with it
  16. I'm a little excited as my new doors arrive tomorrow. After months of buying useless aftermarkek bodge jobs to save some pennies, i sold the family tortoise and bought some shiny Sp4x4 Series split doors for the defender and they're here tomorrow! Woot!
  17. I use Bosch Pro tools and have owned just about every cordless tool they do. The grinders are fine for longtime use, i've not had a heat issue with them even cutting/chasing concrete with the chase adapter. The only issue i've had with one was the trigger, but Bosch are renowned for trigger failures in their drills, jigsaw and grinders ( cordless ) The battery will run flat before the tool has an issue with heavy use however if i know i'm doing any real heavy work with it, i'll use the plug in unless power isn't an option or i'm being lazy
  18. That was my point, Wera tips are pretty indestructible and fit European Screw heads very well with good grip and no wear outside of normal use.
  19. Nope..i don't see the point...$21 for a screwdriver? My Wera cost £55 for a set and that was because they have interchangeable shafts...a screwdriver is a screwdriver...after the hardened tip it's all just bells n whistles!
  20. Although i've got 2.4 i had a look at mine and at the 2.2 routing. As said, the pipe that is routed and looks kinked doesn't look like it's in the correct place. It possibly should be the one that has been left open. If you look at this diagram, number 12 is what it should look like coming from that t piece. I'm not 100% sure about the barb, it looks like it comes from the oil cooler ( barb on top of the oil filter housing on mine ) but there are some connections on these engines that are used in production but then non useable once they leave the production line...possibly used to test the system? Either way, those pipes will contain coolant.
