  1. hi all not sure what forum to put this in so if mods feel may be better else where please feel free to move it my 98 disco 300tdi is coming up for needing discs and pads and i have just found that both front calipers are partially seized so seeing as im doing discs/pads and calipers what extra would i need to do to put it to vented discs on the front? my rangies allways had vented but if memory serves they had twin pipes to the caliper where as the disco has only 1? is there a easy way to do this? thanks rob
  2. im a ex tester and i still worry like no ones buisness when my car is in for test lol also if people worry about a class 4 mot they should try prepping a lgv for a test with vosa those boys know how to use a fine tooth comb lolol rob
  3. in 18inch flavour at2 is about as good as there is rob
  4. as said its fairly normal a oil change wouldnt hurt it if not been done for a couple of years rob
  5. if your local to me in banbury oxfordshire your welcome to have a try in mine to see if you like them i would prob sell it if you waved anice cheque in front of me too
  6. well i have had a shogun and several range rover classics and several dicos in my opinion a shogun drives better on the road to drive and has more interior space but is utter poo on fuel and spare parts are very expensive compared to landrovers pants off road rangie classic drives nicer than a disco (less body roll etc) but has less interior space than a disco and only 5 seats my disco tdi does everything i ask of it does great mpg (over 600 miles to a tank) but i would like a bit more interior space for my dog but mine has rear air con so looses a good chunk of boot space as for at2.s there brilliant for a occasional off roader/green laner and superb on the road (easily a match for the kumho kl71 i had on the shogun) and last well all disco 1,s have a centre diff lock but many are seized from never being used rob
  7. might have to see if i can make up a sleeve then also i dont suppose you have the part number for number 16 in that pic as i think thats the big rivet that goes through the lower hinge into the door and im changing my hinges tomorow
  8. hi my disco,s tail gate checkstrap has a lot of movement where it mpunts to the pin on the body is there a replacment bush available for this?? thanks rob
  9. hi chaps i need a new nsr 1/4 panel rubbing strip for my 1998 disco 300tdi its the one with the chrome strip thanks rob
  10. if your doing it for looks so you can fit bigger tyres do a body lift no problems with castor correction etc and will still drive good on the road cheaper to do too downside is its a longer job to do but still not very hard rob
  11. terrafima shocks are firm and cheap i have them on my disco with my bearmach hd springs rob
  12. my shogun was a 96 p reg 3000 v6 auto running 33x12.5x15 tyres (only mod) and i never got better than 21mpg even if i drove like a nun made the bmw 740 i sport auto i got rid of for it seem practical at 26mpg the disco does 35mpg on a run and 30mpg round town still knocks in 24/26mpg towing rob
  13. i had one of them not too long ago and all tho they drive ok fuel consumption was shocking (v6 24v)and spares prices was high too rob
  14. i had similar on my rangie classic and it was the uj on the column to the box seized up (the heat off the exhaust manifold cooked it dry) wouldnt hurt to lube them anyway rob
  15. your 4wd auto sounds ideal and way out of my budget lol i need to clarify i know exactly what a 638 vito (and 639 up to 2007 for that matter) as i used to be a merc commercial tech and was a merc service 24 tech too so im fully aware of the leaking injectors/pumps etc and dash faults etc etc o and rust (will remind me of a landy ) i just needed to know how they tow big loads it sounds like they wont really be suitable for my needs tho so how much more interior room is there in a 110/landcruiser/p38/surf over a disco?? thanks rob
  16. cant go for a large commercial dont want to look too pikey lol starting to think maybe a 110 csw or a landcruiser will be better pick up is no good tho swmbo wont allow the dog to be in the back lololol rob
  17. so have you used the older 638 (fwd version rwd is the 639) for towing then lara? why is it no good? and yours sounds ideal but too expensive for my wallet tho rob
  18. i have terrafirma ones on my disco and they work great also have heavy duty springs on it too rob
  19. because my dog cant lie down in the back anymore also dont help as it has rear aircon fitted tho
