  1. done the same on my 300tdi fitted a darton alloy breather and piped it into a catch tank one thing to remember tho is if you go wading a lot the vent on the catch tank could let water in to your engine oil rob
  2. Hi the t series engine has hydralic tappets mounted under the cams so no adjustments or push rods easy way to sort out what ones have gone soft remove cam covers and press the lifters down with a screw driver to check for any soft ones (with cam lobe pointing upwards) rob
  3. must be hinge time as i just did mine too!!! (got a pair of new in packs off ebay for £10.55 delivered ) defo take the spare off!!!!!!!! get new proper rivits for the end plate and a big a$$ rivit gun to do them with a second pait of hands is usefull rob
  4. dont be so soft but yes i would have checked the gearbox and transfer box oil levels (well changed them actually) very soon after purchase (as you was told to do when you first got the car!!)
  5. most truck/commercial garages have hot tank washers too so ask at your local one i used to work in a merc one and used to put my rangies wheels in there to clean them (if its delicate items they need restraining as the basket spins like crazy and turn the water jet temps down they can go up to 180 degs (approx)) rob
  6. i do check my cars levels after its been in a garage yes and i allways go over my new purchase with a fine tooth comb regardless of what the seller says its had done!! and with the last paragraph there yes people saying you have got a pup is unhelpfull but then thats there opinion that they are entitled to rob
  7. yes those rims will be fine for your new tyres (much better than having tubes in them too) your tyres are 235mm wide so recommended for a 6 to 7 inch rim great choice in tyres too rob
  8. hi western i think you have miss interpreted what he is after doing i took it that he wants fogs to come on with main beam for extra lighting on mains(how i took the question anyway) rob
  9. 265 75 16 will be needing a arch trim and suspension lift if its bog stock then 255 65 16 will just fit but 235 70 16 is safest if used off road with plenty of articulation rob
  10. could be the chatter between the gearbox and transfer box have heard a few that do this with no ill effect and local independant lr centre say its ok too rob
  11. yeah i had to do a head gasket on one of those not pleasant 300tdi any day please lol rob
  12. you think that block looks odd you should see the w12 one now that would prob make a good engine for a landy rob
  13. 100% agree with that use to work in a landrover/rover main dealer and i had the above gun every one else has snap on ones and mine was the only one that could undo honda crank pully bolts unaided snap on guns = poo im afraid (heavy/noisy/and no where near there rated output) rob
  14. not quiet the same but my shogun snapped a tailgate hinge pin and as a new hinge was 130 quid i took the old one to a local engineering place and 20 quid later my hinge had a nice shiney stainless pin
  15. and what did they give you for it? rob
  16. no probs chap i 'removed' mine after it stopped it starting a few times there have been a few threads on the ddis set up and general concensus is its a touch unreliable just to note your car wont have a spider for the imobiliser as the box on the pump does it let us know how you get on Rob
  17. thats a ddis immobiliser box (and its poo) carefully break that off with a gentle hammer and chisel (it has break off security bolts fitted holding it on with a bar behind the solenoid) then connect the centre wire to the top of the solenoid (after you have fitted a ring connector) thats under it jobs a good one rob
  18. this guy has fitted them on a disco so maybe worth a read to see if that helps http://www.overland-rovers.com/ralphs-pages/vehicle-modifications/112-fitting-extended-range-fuel-tanks-to-a-discovery-1.html rob
  19. sounds like fuel drain down best way to be sure is run a pipe into a can of diesel if prolem goes away you have a hole in a pipe somewhere allowing air in first place to look is sender unit in the tank where the pipes come out also check the injector leak off pipes too
  20. yeah i thought that as mine is a 3 hole and every one i have seen in the past has had holes in it hence this throwing me a touch as i wasnt aware of a no hole gasket untill today rob
  21. cheers ralph didnt know there was a no hole gasket available?? thanks for that rob
