  1. Thank you. I must admit I hadn't thought of venting the battery directly, I was thinking of venting the compartment.
  2. @Nickod can you please explain what you did for the breather? I am planning a similar exercise.
  3. People also speak very highly of the Glencoyne engine mounts, as being much better than standard, even original parts
  4. I use a Lincoln air powered grease gun, and have recently purchased and used a Doost D600 lock on end from Gwynn Lewis. The new end makes getting onto the u/js very easy. It has a narrow nose and locks and unlocks easily and It would be very good if you had a manual gun needing two hands. I joined the new end with a right angled connector which helps in confined spaces. It comes M10 x1 threaded with a bsp adaptor; the Licoln is of course NPT.
  5. So, you're probably going to need to do some serious marriage remediation...good luck with it and your offer. To quote Rear Admiral Grace Hopper "It's Easier to Ask Forgiveness Than It Is To Get Permission"
  6. Question is does it run? There are the other usual td5 minor irritations like injector harness, injector seals, fuel pressure reg etc. But if not, LS3 time? Its bound to need a chassis and bulkhead, but easy for a man of your calibre! I mean, its a '99 parked in a field for 2 years. Definitely a project
  7. Well, if you can do work like that upside down left handed in bad weather I've no sympathy πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. Looks great
  8. I think the Panhard was changed facelift td5 time, YRM show different beackets. The bolt size changed I'm sure.
  9. So, if I wanted to swap out a potetially failing axle case, on a Puma 90 could I get any earlier case within reason, say 300 tdi era Disco? Then would I have to fit a new Panhard bracket, but apart from that, straight swap?
  10. I drove for pocket money, in my youth ( only ever off road obviously)a MF 35 and a 135. Very similiar, but as I recall the 135 had a foot throttle as well as hand. Our local farmer did swathe turning with his Series 1, as he said, its quicker.
  11. The brackets dont have to last far, as even if you don't notice and don't stop the oil drains and the CWP friction welds up. At 60 mph on a smart motorway with a trailer of live animals you have all sorts of problems
  12. My daughter has a Puma 90 that may be affected by this. There's a huge thread on Defender2.net about the axle problem. One point to emerge is that the cracking seems to be on the left only . Another is that the recall was only for 110 and 130( why?), but it happened to a forum member on a 90. But yeah, JLR are weaselling out of replacing potentially unsafe faulty axle cases. Why am I not surprised?
  13. Goodness, every horse tower's worse nightmare. Relieved to hear all are OK, I expect you will have needed urgent laundry services.
  14. Can you even drive one of those things (Yangwang thang) on a UK car licence; they seem to weigh over 3.5 tonnes?
  15. This might be a stupid question; if so please forgive me. Could someone explain why it is Ok to swap axles, eg the Nissan Patrol suggestion or Mog portals, but not Ok to swap from Sals to Disco? Is it just the weight rating, if so could you not just reduce the gvw?
  16. As I recall, it would be possible to emulate the switch with relays and diodes. However, if the old switch is duff, is it possible to look inside? Maybe gently try prising the rocker out, then cleaning it out? After all, if it's dead what have got to lose?
  17. It does sound like the hazard switch. This I think is the definitive thread on it.
  18. That all looks way too good to actually use. Like large scale jewellery.
  19. You could always look at speedisleeving, probably costs more than a new stub though, but may have a better seal surface
  20. I have a set of Konis with standard springs on my 90 csw. My daughter has a standard Puma 90xs which is a much choppier ride, and it feels less stable on bends. The Konis are on about their middle setting and have been on 10 years, though only done around 50k miles.
  21. It doesn't sound like that was it( sorry) Mine seems to push past the tabs, then again its nigh impossible as you say to get at them to knock.
