  1. Ive spoken to them quite a bit recently on the number found on the web site.
  2. Excellent, Lets hear a bit more about it and some more pics!
  3. Thanks Ralph, I had also come to that conclusion searching the forum. My issue is it should be Shire by date but not sure if there was a hazzy period of changeover. I vaguely remember an issue in the past when getting paint so was looking for clarification.
  4. Can anyone tell me what colour this is (or confirm what I suspect it to be) Yes, I know its blue before anyone says it but which blue. Its F Reg but seem to remember there being some confusion with year and colour last time I wanted paint Many thanks. Steve.
  5. In need of a disco 3 towbar to tow a big trailer Just about to start ringing around but assuming theres not going to be a whole lot of choice. Anybody any suggestions or recomendations?? Cheers. Steve.
  6. Been thinking about this quite a lot lately (mainly due to having just fitted a V8). Firstly, on an EFI (I assume a carb'd motor stops before its a problem), does it usually happen one way more than the other? I assume the oil floods the rocker cover on the low side and gets picked up by the intake via the breather. In which case the RH rocker has the breather in it so the RH side is going to be the one to cause issues. If that's the case would some re routing of the breather help. Maybe a breather to both rocker covers so the engine can breath through the higher/clear rocker cover rather than pushing oil up the lower/oil filled rocker cover???? Anyone any idea's??? It could also be the valve stem oil seals letting oil passed but I'd be surprised if seals in good condition would allow enough past to lock the motor. Maybe enough to make it smoke for a while but I can live with that! So any idea's either the reasons for it or how to stop it??? Steve.
  7. Mark is away at the moment but I know he used a Nissan front and rear.
  8. How long did it take you James? I was talking to a few guys stood by it on sunday and said I reckoned it was a 35-40 minute punch. By the look I got I assume they thought I was talking $&!£ and it should have been much longer. Im guessing you guys would have been through in that sort of time?
  9. Well done to Austin and Mark, Fantastic result on the special considering they lost a tyre going through gate 3!
  10. Oi you two! Actually your probably quite right! Yea, got a suit fitting Sat but should be there after that and most of Sunday. See you all soon!
  11. Evening. Can anybody help me out with a part number please? I'm in need of the O ring that seals the cap that sits in the end of the oil pressure relief valve. Its a 1997 3.9 V8 auto discovery with a serpentine front end (oil pump sits over the crank). The O ring sits around a small cap that then sits over the pressure relief valve spring and is retained in the bore (in the front cover at crank shaft height) by a circlip. Ive tried various places but all the O rings I can find of the right diameter are (typically) either much to fat or thin in section. The local LR parts supplier thinks it may not be available separately(AGGGH) so fingers crossed. Thanks. Steve.
  12. Excellent thanks. Pics would be brilliant. do you like the dash now you have it fitted?
  13. Did you fit a Tomcat dash in the end? If so, how did it go? Any pics?
  14. Was built in a rush before an event with a view to building a tidy one but as always seem to have not got round to it yet. The folded plates did arrive a few weeks ago so it might happen soon. Gives an idea of positions tho!
  15. Mine sticks out 30mm past the front of the chassis (the bit you talk about isn't there any longer!) and sits on top. I had to move the rad back quite close to the steering box to do this. got some pics on the home pc so I'll post them later.
  16. Jake, You should be careful camping there, Some strange things go on in those woods at night!
  17. Ive used and bent pretty much every type there is. Theres not a lot to chose but I now have the bearmach ones as they are excellent VFM and since fitting one of these Have had no further trouble.
  18. I made a spacer that sat on top of the spring and tac welded it to the turret ring. My front dislocation cones are the Gwyn lewis type which are part of the turret so they just slid down through the middle of it all. I did it this way as whatever else I did at the bottom to space it caused problems with the shock. I dont use them now so If I can find them I'll take a pic.
  19. I have 220lb/ft x 432mm high on mine as do quite a few others and the front suspension works perfectly well with them and sits at about 310mm loaded (winch, wing bars, cage etc) spring length which is a pretty good lift. I like them, seem to flex well while still being reasonably stable.
  20. Dont work for them but are sponsored by them. What do you need to know? Fitting advise? Assuming you bought a set from Jim im sure a quick phone call and they would be more than happy to help. Alternatively If I can answer your question I will.
  21. Mmmm, Jase's description of Cattle market would be reasonably accurate, So I'll see ya there
  22. Possibly but ive never seen it done or in the regs so I dont think its an issue. I was more interested in the MOT comment?
  23. Really, what makes you say that????
  24. Because its a simple and straight forward way of making the cage removable. If you have any better ideas then I'd like to hear them but this does the job nicely. Didn't see any point in re inventing the wheel!
