  1. you already have one fitted to a TD5. It's at the back of the engine next to front axle breather. If you want to extend them, just snip off loop and use some push fittings and extra pipe. Steve
  2. not according to dft... 1. The headlamp unit (outer lens, reflector, bulb) shall be type approved to ECE 98 and be "e-marked" to demonstrate this. That can only be done by the headlamp supplier - Hella, Valeo etc. who must test the headlamp in an independent laboratory. Taken from dft site (google: dft HID) Fact sheet: Aftermarket HID headlamps December 2006 In the Department's view it is not legal to sell or use after market HID lighting kits, for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon. If a customer wants to convert his vehicle to Xenon HID he must purchase completely new Xenon HID headlamps. The reason for this is that the existing lens and reflector are designed around a Halogen filament bulb, working to very precise tolerances. If one places a HID "burner" (bulb) in the headlamp, the beam pattern will not be correct, there will be glare in some places and not enough light in other places within the beam pattern. The following is the legal rationale: The Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 regulate the situation in the UK. Under these Regulations, HID/Gas Discharge/Xenon headlamps are not mentioned and therefore they are not permitted according to the strict letter of the law. However new vehicles have HID headlamps. This is because they comply to European type approval Regulations. The UK cannot refuse to register a vehicle with a European type approval. These are to ECE Regulation 98 (for the HID headlamps which are tested on a rig in a laboratory) and ECE Regulation 48 (Lighting Installation on the vehicle). For the after market, a used vehicle cannot obtain type approval because it is only applicable for new vehicles. However we feel that saying "HID is banned in the after market" would not be reasonable. Instead we should make analogies with new vehicles. It would be reasonable to require HID in the after market to meet the same safety standards as on new vehicles. The same level of safety should apply. Therefore a HID headlamp unit sold in the after market should: 1. be type approved to ECE Regulation 98 as a component. 2. when fitted to the vehicle should enable ECE Regulation 48 to be complied with (although no government inspection will take place). 3. Comply with RVLR as far as "use" is concerned. In practice this means: 1. The headlamp unit (outer lens, reflector, bulb) shall be type approved to ECE 98 and be "e-marked" to demonstrate this. That can only be done by the headlamp supplier - Hella, Valeo etc. who must test the headlamp in an independent laboratory. 2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam. 3. The headlamp must be maintained in good working order, kept clean, and aligned/adjusted correctly like any other headlamp. Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is an offence to supply, fit or use vehicle parts which are not legal. In summary it is not permitted to convert an existing halogen headlamp unit for use with HID bulbs. The entire headlamp unit must be replaced with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs and it must be installed in accordance with the rules stated above. 3. On the hybrid I mounted mine on rear bulkhead in the corner behind the passenger seat. Nice an Easy for electrics and plumbing to front and rear. The compressor is not noisy, and if you are worried about the exhaust vent you can put a silencer on it. Steve
  4. Foleys near Harlow in Essex have done a number of projects like this and have a good reputation for it. Steve
  5. The anti-stall works on percentage of throttle actuation. Too little and it cuts anti stall but is not enough to pull away and it stalls. So you can pull away with revs but it needs to be positive and enough revs. I've found the anti-stall good in 1st low when crawling on rocks or into tricky sections. You can left foot brake and it won't stall and so you can control descents/ascents etc . It's probably why I need a new clutch at 46K though ;) Steve
  6. nope, and in fact it might make vibrations worse. Either get rid of lift and go back to standard or +1" height or get a double cardan front prop. Cheers Steve
  7. Good luck George. At a minimum you get a free holiday to queensland Have fun Steve

  15. After using BB beads and the Devon4x4 ones I found the Devon 4x4 ones to be better. Costs more than BB's but not a great difference. This was on BFG MT 255/85 16's Steve
  16. what the halogen bulbs in plastic ducting? ;)
  17. With that precise info, no one should have a problem meeting up with you Chris. ;)
  18. If you want Silicon hoses and a standard looking engine bay, Ian at IRB does black ones... http://www.irbdevelopments.com/hose_silicon.html
  19. Standard LR factory fit air con is completely isolated from existing heating/ventilation. So if you pull it out you'll have a big hole in the bulkhead but no issues with existing heating/ventilation. Steve
  20. Oh don't spout bull****e Will - If that was the case they should have taken the ethical route and spoken to Gwyn about licensing his design to manufacture themselves. Instead they've ripped of his designs and there is no excuse. And before anyone chimes in with "This is what happens in the big wide world of business" - yes it does, but it doesn't make it ethical. People are quite within their rights to publicly question the ethics of company that use these tactics and promote boycotting purchases from them. Steve
  21. Just as well as when fitted, so good so far. Cheers Steve
  22. As above, if they are not fitted just ignore them. You can't turn them off on any of the Diag kit, T4 included. Steve
