  1. How much of a lift and how supple? Does it go on road too?
  2. First of all check the height you are at now. Measure between top and bottom spring mount. Standard height is ~260mm A 33" tyre should not rub on road, but will off road on standard height springs. Fitting 1" lift will be more than ample if you don't want them to rub off road. If you fit a lift it might be a good idea to calm your cornering technique too. What wheels do you have them fitted to? Have you adjusted you lock stops? If not you probably find them rubbing on your front radius arms which is an MOT failure. Cheers Steve
  3. Not 100% sure, but IIRC there are no standard height OME springs, so if you don't like the hot rod look you'll have to rethink. Steve
  4. If measuring from the ground, you'll also need to know what tyre/wheels are fitted and what psi they are running at from a post when I first got my 2005 90 TC...
  5. One way to do it, would be to jack up one side of the rear axle and put it on an axle stand. Make sure diff lock is out and then drive off! If you do drive off (with a clang and a bang ) you have an LSD. If you stay where you are, you don't. Steve (resident lr4x4 health and safety officer )
  6. Pics of my tablet install with a RAM mount here... http://green90.co.uk/wordpress/?p=77 I now run a Samsung netbook, with a bluetooth M1200 Holux GPS receiver. I get use of keyboard, good form factor 6 hours battery life when off power and on the laptop I find a wireless mouse better than touchscreen. Cheers Steve
  7. you can read it all here.. http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/speed.../vanspeedlimits and quote taken here..
  8. Yes, but that only changed last month. Vehicles prior to that were classed as station wagons and have car grading for road tax. But also as it's a Light Commercial and it's maximum laden weight exceeds 2T you are limited to 50mph on single carriageway and 60mph on dual and motorways. Cheers Steve
  9. It increases the noise, more boomy (great at describing things me ) and you'll hear the turbo whistle more. It's fine to live with but it's louder. Remap will add a bit more noise too. Steve
  10. Just to add to Porny's post, my TD5 90 was MOT tested on Tuesday and results were a Fast Pass with a corrected reading of 0.79 l/m and also a surprised MOT tester when he took it out for the brake test My 90 has .... EGR removed (IRB Dev) Exhaust - decat SS front section, Straight through SS centre section, and standard LR rear section Stage 1 remap (IRB Dev) Cheers Steve
  11. If you are joining for info, you won't see value for money. Better to join a local LR club and gain info and join in on laning days out with them. Better still join a Glass affiliated LR club and get access to Glass info that way. Cheers Steve
  12. Sorry Mark, it's enough of a chore having to answer these technical dunces that don't know their arse from their elbow, and then you get it duplicated
  13. funnily enough warn have this on their website... along with weight etc.. http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/src/M8274-50.shtml and manual download with more info ;)
  14. To improve the on road (and off too) driving experience of a TD5 it's good to do the following.... Remove EGR - Go for a good kit with all the right parts, like the one from Ian at IRB Developments. ~£60 Non - Cat exhaust - Replace with standard cat from pipe with a stainless steel straight through one, available on ebay, TD5 Alive, IRB etc ~£75 Remap - A stage 1 remap will provide a good increase in bhp and torque and make quite a dramatic improvement to driving it on road. If you go off road quite a bit then also change out centre box for a straight through stainless section, as the standard large centre box gets smacked about. Steve
  15. you can have it turned off by anyone who has an LR compatible diagnostic tool. Or you can pull it it if look at a wiring diagram for the Disco II Steve
  16. I had a side opening tailgate on Hybrid. I found that the exposed handle could get knocked off road sometimes opening the tailgate so I fitted the latches too. Steve
  17. George got selected onto short list so gets at least a free holiday and maybe a new job yeah
  18. sorry to hear about that. In my experience, it doesn't matter how secure the cars locks are they still get in. Had a top end BMW where they simply punched a hole in the door panel with a screwdriver and levered up the lock. Obviously they knew exactly where to punch the hole. If you make the locks too hard they simply break a window and so on. Steve
  19. Oooopppss, - as in me mixing pink and blue anti-freeze. Don't think I've done it on the TD5 yet, but I've certainly done it on others in the past. Another one to add to the knowledge bank. Steve
  20. It wasn't ever in service, as it has two more digits than it's supposed to. Looking at the number, I'd try 07721564828 and see if that works.. Steve
  21. Hi Bish You could use one of the large battery box grommets on the TD5 seat boxes. You could pass all four winch cables through a single grommet that way. Cheers Steve
  22. red dots are UCR's and you can drive them too. TRO's are marked at beginning and end of each Byway/UCR Sometimes you have a Byway physically signposted with a footpath or Bridleway sign. Don't drive it. Check with the local country council and if it is still a byway on the definitive map then you can drive it and ignore sign, but not before. Steve
  23. No It's not needed. I suspect that you have a TDI kit masquerading as a TD5 one. Steve
