  1. I've already posted this in the Defender forum, but we did not find the solution We have just converted a 110 3.5 V8 to 3.9 Hotwire injection. We are used to diesels and this is our first injection conversion. Is it normal that the main relay clicks as soon as I put 12V on the thick brown wire on the multiplug, or should it only click when the ignition is switched on? When I connect the switched 12v to the white/grey wire nothing happens, the fuel pump does not run. I have checked the fuel pump relay and there is no earth to the blue/purple wire, so the ecu doesn't send earth to the relay. When I put an earth to this wire the fuel pump runs, but ofcourse does not switch of after 4 second. I do have a spark. But the engine doesn't fire, so I guess the ecu doesn't fire the injectors. Does this mean my ECU is faulty? Or can I check anything else?
  2. I think everything is connected as it should. Maybe the ecu is faulty...
  3. Do I need to connect orange/black to earth to bypass the Neutral switch?

  5. Hi Nigelw, Here in Holland it is still no problem whatsoever to put another engine/gearbox/axles etc in a Defender (as long as it is older than 1998). As long as it has been changed on the documents here in Holland, this is the best way to get a Defender with changes registered in Belgium. We are one Europe, and Belgium is obliged to register any car that has been previously registered in another EU country. Kit cars are not allowed in Holland, if we build a kit car, we have it registered in the UK, and then have it registered in Holland, because it has a UK registration Holland will register it as well (and all other European countries as well) You see a lot of Dutch cars for sale because of the very high road tax in Holland. About 2500 euro's each year over here. Cars used to be tax excempt when they were 25 years old, but as of 01-01-2014 they have to be over 40 years old. So for most people a Defender is too expensive now.
  6. I would recommend Landy Point as well. They are real professionals, but I don't now how much the charge. Paul Stroink One-Ten Land rovers http://www.One-Ten.nl
  7. How can I tell if the hub has been off? The 22mm nut is on, but the seller did not take it of the engine himself. Is someone does not know how to remove the pump from the engine he may have been temped to undo the 22mm nut..
  8. I'm converting a EDC 300TDI to non-EDC I can buy a 300TDI injection pump, but it has no sprocket and it has not been locked at TDC. Can I just turn it to TDC, fit a locking pin and attach the sprocket of the EDC pump? Or is it less easy than that?
  9. Untill last week I had a small champion winch on my trailer. I've bought it about 16 months ago and I've used it a few times and the pulling power was good for the price. But after a few weeks the free spool lever broke, so I used the motor to spool out. Last week I wanted to use it again and it did not work anymore. I've taken it apart and all the magnets in the motor had come loose and ruined everything inside :-( Now I've taken the superwinch X3 of my boot trailer and put that on my other trailer. This winch is I think 15 years old and still everything works. On my Land Rover I have a Superwinch Husky that keeps on working. therefore I would choose a Superwinch again.
  10. Do you have a lt85 gearbox? I have an 85 LHD 110 V8 overhere with PTO winch. Not a superwinch but the PTO may be the same.
  11. Strange. It looks like the one of a ninety, and it's not a heavy duty chassis. I shall try to take a picture today.
  12. It looks original. Welds are perfect. It's a 1993 model. There are several other small strange differences on this vehicle. Extra vin plate, LHD but UK stickers throughout the car but belgian plates. Several small holes in rear body.
  13. I have a 110 in my workshop. One of the chassis beams is round, they always are square. I have circled the beam I mean, ofcourse this is a standard square one. Has anyone seen a chassis with a round beam before? or is this standard for a specific year or something?
  14. jaguar body on range rover chassis: amtra carconcepts
  15. I've heard lots of bad stories about Yann the Landyman. Cars without a stamped VIN number, problems with paid deposits, cars in FAR worse condition than advertised. I run a Land Rover business here in Holland, and have had more than one custumor who has travelled all the way to the UK to buy a car from him, and came back very disappointed.
  16. Then I could buy a newer discovery automatic as a donor vehicle without converting it back to non-EDC.
  17. Hi, I'm wondering if anyone over here has managed to convert a defender to a 300TDI with EDC?
  18. It's a good thing that these 'hybrids' are mentioned on this forum; even if this one may be legal (but how do you proof it has been build before new laws when you get involved in serious accident and insurance won't pay, and/or the police take the car?), most of these cars certainly aren't!
  19. my defender 110 on 255/85's with standard speedo gear reads exactly right, the same speed as on the gps...
  20. Thanks, great help, never done much with autoboxes so I'm a complete novice!
  21. I think I have a autobox from a 3.5 v8 range rover laying around, maybe I could use the pump of that one?
  22. We have disconnected an oil cooler line, and there is no pressure at all. So I think the pump is broken :-(
  23. Then it will probably be the pump. We can only get 2 liters of oil in, probably because the pump doesn't work. Is the pump hard to replace/expensive?
  24. Yes, we did split the engine and gearbox, but we have left the torque converter fixed to the engine, and just put the box behind it again after fitting it to the defender. if we have left the torque converter on the engine, can we still have damaged the pump then? I'm going to check if there's oil pressure in a few hours...
