  1. Thanks everybody. I will check the fluid. Thanks Dave, I've read this on your website already, I'll check the pump tomorrow.
  2. Hi, We have converted a def 110 300 tdi to automatic. We have used the engine and boxes out of a 1994 discovery. Everything worked fine in the discovery. Now in the defender we don't have any drive. What can we have done wrong?
  3. I still think you have a small crack somewhere. Sometimes, at the right temperature it opens up and blows some air in the system, therefore you don't see it bubbling in the header tank.
  4. Almelo, The Netherlands. Since this photo at least 30 cm's of fresh snow...
  5. I'm affraid your head or engine block has developped a crack caused by the expansion of the ice...unfortunately that's a common problem with current temperatures...
  6. isn't it a possibility to use the pump of a small 110v or 220v compressor, and even the tank. I think you could use almost every component of the compressor. It just don't know if there's enough space under the bonnet, and you would have to fabricate a clutch. But maybe you could use that one from an AC-compressor.
  7. I have the same problem with my 200tdi. It runs perfectly up to about 1500 - 200 rpm, but it will not rev further than that. I have replaced the lift pump twice, all fuel lines, filter etc. I have put a direct diesel feed from a container through an electric fuel pump straigt to the injection pump but the problem remains the same. I have already bought another injection pump, because I have no clue anymore. But haven't had time to fit that, so the 200tdi has been sitting in the garage for 1,5 years now :-( So please keep us informed, because I'm very interested in a simple solution. :-)
  8. Since my one year old trailer with superwinch and a Land Rover 110 on top was stolen last year, I've fitted a GPS tracker on my new trailer. When I'm moving cars with it I keep it secured to my car with a good quality hitch lock and I've welded the removable tow bar of my D3 to my car. Ofcourse there's no warning sign about the tracker on my trailer, because thieves will then bring a gps or gsm jammer. The battery of the tracker will last for three days and will be charged again when the trailer is connected to a car. Hopefully I can find my trailer back if it ever gets stolen again.
  9. I have a small blue Bosch angle grinder and when it gets stuck it cuts its power instantly. With 1 mm discs however the disc still gets shattered but the machine stops.
  10. Thanks, I've been working on it again today.. changed the stop solenoid, that seemd to improve things a tiny bit. But it must be the injection pump I think. Will have to take that off another time, because I don't have time for such a bigger job at this moment :-(
  11. Timing belt has been changed 1500 miles ago. Always ran fine, with the old belt the car has had this problem a few times before, but only for a short period. I'm sure it's not a timing problem. With a direct diesel feed to the injector pump the problems remains. So it is not in the pipe work. Can I test the injector pump in some way? Or do I have to take it off and have it tested at a diesel specialist or something?
  12. I have now taken taken of the intercooler hose from the inlet manifold... unfortunately no difference...
  13. If I feed diesel directly to the injector pump the problem remains the same... So it is not in the pipework.
  14. if I try to rev it it just doesn't. Revs go up a little bit and then fall back. Sometimes it will rev up to about 3000 rpm for a few seconds and then almost stalls. No smoke. It are the same symptoms when the lift pump has given up. I have disconnect the airfilter from the turbo, so the turbo can suck air, didn't help. I don't think the intercooler hoses will collapse because they are pressurised by the turbo.
  15. Today I have tried to repair my 200tdi wich has developped a problem last year. The engine will not rev and will only run at idle. I thought it was the lift pump so I have replaced that, but it did not solve the problem. I've also changed the fuel filter. I've put a can of diesel directly to the injector pump to make sure there couldn't be any problem with a leak somewhere in the fuel system. No luck either. Does this mean my injector pump is broken or could the injectors cause this problem or can a problem in the fuel return line cause a problem? I have run out of ideas :-(
  16. Thanks, I'm going to count bolts later on today...
  17. I have a bent 1998 defender front axle. I have an old 10 spline 1984 axle lying around. Can I use the old casing and transfer all internals from the newer axle onto the old one and use that on my 98 defender? Or are there differences in the axle casing?
  18. I have bent the front axle of my 1999 300tdi defender 110. Will a discovery or range rover axle fit?
  19. Hi Cieranc, Yes, we were staying at the George, and the trailer was parked at the big car park with the fence closed (but not locked). From the road you almost could not see the trailer, so I think it must have been someone local, who was walking his dog or something and has noticed my trailer. The Police officer has gone to some houses to ask if they have seen something. I normally leave the trailer hitched onto my car, but we arrived early and wanted to go to Darlington and we thought the car park in such a small village would be rather safe... I have bought the Land Rover in Barnard Castle....
  20. Here is a photo of the trailer with another 110 on top of it...: (I've circled the non-original bits) Here's a photo of the Land Rover: It has got a discovery 200tdi engine, an excellent chassis with virtually no rust, a rather new drivers door. It's a C-reg.
  21. Last night my Brenderup trailer with a green c-reg Land Rover 110 200tdi Hardtop on top of it was stolen from a private car park in Piercebridge DL2 3SW. The trailer was secured with a lock on the hitch.... The trailer is a Brenderup U120 with a tilting bed, only two years old with a Superwinch X2 and a Dutch (yellow) licenseplate WZ-NT-50 and LED taillights. If anyone has seen one of the vehicles, or the combination of both, please contact me on info@one-ten.nl or 0031641322851 or the North Yorkshire Police. I'm driving back home to Holland now, when I'm there I'll try to upload some pictures. The VIN of the trailer is : UH20001848P233148 Thanks....
  22. OK... didn't know that... No idea why it doesn't work then... I'm just gonna fit an electric pump inline I think...
  23. I have compared both pumps, they are the same. without the spacer the foot of the pump touches the cam, the base of the pump is about half of an inch from the engine. I need to use the bolts to squeeze the pump to the engine....but....no fuel. It looks like the cam is rounded off or something. I've put my finger in the hole and pushed the car backwards in fifht gear and it looks like there is no lobe on the cam???
  24. If I remove the pump from the engine and use the hand lever I get a very powerfull squirt. if I put the pump on the block I get no diesel, with or without spacer.....(unless I use the lever again, then I get a little diesel..)
  25. No... If I use the spacer the cam won't touch the foot of the cam. Without the spacer, the pump doesn't sit flush, as expected, and will compress the spring for a certain amount when tightened. That seems to be OK....but there still is no fuel pressure....
