  1. Thanks anyway Dave but you are right, it's not the way I want to go Appreciate the suggestion nonetheless John
  2. I've just placed my order with Mr Lewis and am expecting to receive them on Tues. He said on the phone that if you grease them regularly they will last a very long time indeed. They do seem to have an exceptional reputation so I imagine that as long as you follow the guidance, they will be just fine.
  3. Email from me too, I am very curious and always looking for ways to protect my baby
  4. I was wondering this too but when I looked back it does indeed say May. I think because it was typed as 'may.maybe' all I saw was 'maybe'. that's the dyslexia coming through
  5. Sorry to sound totally thick, I just want to make sure my truck is allowed, but what exactly qualifies as a rear recovery point? Would a typical rear tow bar suffice? Or do I need to add anything to the rear cross member such as swivel eyes? Thanks
  6. ...I think should be the golden rule in these uncertain times. With so much media attention, the wide availability of 4x4's, and a general disregard for anything sacred, I am more than supportive of a suspicious and secretive attitude towards sharing routes even though, as a relative newby, this means I am less likely to be shown great routes or taken to place by those with more experience. The price we have to pay to keep our hobby alive I'm afraid.
  7. I really want to get MM but I am a mac user and until the software is fully compatible with the mac operating system I won't be buying it. Anderzander, does the iPad work as well as one of the gps sat nav thingys? I know that the gps on my iPhone only works well when I've got 3G. As soon as I'm in an area where the signal is not all that good the gps starts lagging behind and becomes totally useless.
  8. On the face of it, it appears that the restriction is only for certain times of the year. It looks as if it is open between the 2nd September and 14th October, unless of course, you are visiting someone who lives down there and you therefore require access. Would a local GLASS representative have more info on this?
  9. I thought I would bring this alive again as I am going to fit a snorkel to my 200Tdi Defender soon. I am leaning towards the Safari snorkel (genuine not copy) but need some advice about sealing. First up, what do I need to use to seal the side mount to the wing? Secondly, what exactly do I need to seal between the wing and the airbox? Will I need to replace any hoses? Many thanks John
  10. OK fair enough but you did refer to MT's in your post. I was just trying to point out that not everyone who opts for MT's does so because they are a wide boy and wants a pimped up ride! Anyway, I wasn't having a dig as such, just defending my tyre choice.
  11. ^ that is a little bit presumptuous. I didn't want my MT's because they looked big and butch. I wanted a tyre that I can use for a variety of activities. I can only afford one set of tyres and will use them for on-road, greenlaning, pay and play and other off-road driving. It turns out that they are just as good on road as my previous set of AT's with the exception of in icy conditions, they are great when greelaning, and superb off road. They are not particularly aggressive; I have not torn up and done irreparable damage to any greenlanes, and they are not as noisy as I had expected them to be. I find that comments like this can be slightly condescending If I had wanted an aggressive looking tyre I would have gone all out and bought a proper off-road tyre. I bought a tyre that I believe is the best for all conditions, not one that will make up for my "lack of driving ability".
  12. Eh? Should I be draining my fuel filter? I've never drained it, didn't realise I had to. How do you drain it?
  13. Looks great, I hope to be there
  14. same thing happened to me once with a brand new chefs knife. As I removed it from the packaging it leapt towards me and sliced the skin from my knuckle!
