I think that as soon as they are worn and begin to vibrate it is only a short time before they disintegrate and if they do so while you are driving your prop will fall off! It is for this reason that as soon as I begun to hear a very loud vibration I checked my uj's and attempted (and I mean attempted, I made a right cock-up of it ) to change it when I found play in the joint.
probably a uj then if it started all of a sudden. just speaking from experience though, not through any great expertise so someone else may be able to suggest more things to look at.
first thing, check your uj's for play. Also check for play in transfer (does the prop have rotational play?)
However, ever since getting my truck I have had a noise that sounds like someone vibrating a sheet of metal when I am in 4th or 5th and doing too low revs while trying to accelerate, particularly when going up a slight incline. I'm just very aware of it now and either accelerate more gently or change down into the correct gear.
hope this helps
Retroanaconda is correct, non lifted up to 2" lift
I've just bought some and I can notice an immediate difference, the drive train feels so much smoother. I don't have a lift and other than having 265/75/16r tyres, my truck is standard.
Oh and Gwyn is a cracking chap, he even replied to my text asking what way round the props are fitted
Hope this helps
I'm so impressed with people's abilities and knowledge. I suppose if you started learning before you were 14 and your dad taught you a lot, you would be pretty knowledgeable by now! I began at the age of 29 and have learnt very little over the past two years. Still, plenty of time yet
there are lots of tyre size calculators on the web, like the one martifers above has suggested. Just google 'tyre size calculator' and try a few out. But probably best to get the correct speedo gear just so you know your speedo is correct.
I found out recently that your speedo has to work to pass the MOT. However, it does not have to work correctly
