  1. I wouldn't have thought its really a problem Les, will you really get a benefit offroad with it..? Surely the main benefit of a intercooler on a TD is having cooler air going in at road speeds so giving the pistons less of a hard time.
  2. I went and I spied you but you looked too busy assisting idiots so I didnt get a chance to say hi! Saw Tonk's truck too, very nice. Doyley has some good pics and has popped them up on ORRP, hopefully he'll do the same here
  3. Hi Jon sorry for late reply, been out playing at Broxhead There's 4 of us I should think, a series 2A, Disco, Isuzu Trooper and a 110. We'll be starting off from the Devil's Punchbowl Cafe at about 12 ish I should think. Have a good day and maybe see you!
  4. Is Haslemere/Liphook/Alton in Surrey too far? We're out on Wednesday.
  5. Nice one. Was supposed to be going along and seeing some friends who took their steam rollers, spent the day doing family stuff and getting the Land Rover ready for Broxhead tomorrow.
  6. Looks nice and straight too, petrol or diesel?
  7. Dave to the rescue again - many thanks chap I'll do that.
  8. I've never bothered to see if I have a LWB or SWB speedo I know I've got a good 109 one somewhere in the shed so I'll try that and mark it with tippex.
  9. If you are changing the doors - why not go for split ones? With the anti-burst locks they are just as (in)secure as the push-buttons, you get a lot more room inside and with the door tops off the visibility off road is superb. It's also a lot cheaper if you look at the prices rot-free push button doors go for - even allowing for a pair of alloy door tops be it the slash cut ones or the truly lovely Rocky Mountain ones.
  10. Interesting topic, I need to get the speedo sorted in my S2A, 3.54 diffs + 2a gearbox + V8 makes the speedo under-read by about 20mph thats if I can trust the speedo anyway.Luckily my transfer box has a 30mph whine for the speed cameras which is a good rough guide! Any ideas or should I enter the 21st century and get a GPS or summit.

    SNOW!!!

I love Land Rovers. Looking good as always RPR.
  12. Yep - Parabolics. Sorry that doesn't help much...
  13. He was right though? Les I mean...
  14. Hi all Just to add my 2'ps we did the RR axle swap a couple of years ago on a J reg 90 and were told we would have trouble with the brakes, well we hooked it all up and it was fine. Add to it the X eng disc handbrake and you should have mudproof brakes
  15. Same here in Worthing, been in with the series and sankey loads of times with no problems.
  16. Mike Jackson over on ORRP did it to his 2A some time ago, went like the clappers and all squeezed in under/behind the s2a panels. Totalled the mainshaft after 6 months unfortunately but that was after racing the chavs off the lights on a regular basis!
  17. Go V8. If you are doing it properly don't bother with a LT77. They are not the strongest. You would need a adapter plate to keep your current gearbox (and modify the bulkhead), as you say a V8 LT77 from a Range Rover will mate up and if you get a "long stick" gearbox from a 1984/85 RR the gearlevers will be in the same place as they are now. What I would do is either - Use a 4 speed LT95 from a Range Rover with a overdrive - virtually bombproof. - Splash out on a 5 speed LT85 (aka the Santana box) as used in the factory V8's. - Fit a 4 speed auto from a Range Rover - Mark90 is currently doing this and a few others here probably already have. The noise alone makes it worthwhile. B)
  18. Found a few more. My first Series III 2.25 diesel And as a truck cab. This was replaced by Olly which used to belong to my grandad, 2.25 petrol. During this time I brought Nessy, the 109 High Cap, fitted a 2.5 diesel and sold her on After this I needed a runabout as I'd sold the petrol 88 on for a nice profit, and Katie came along at the right price, with a years MoT and tax for £600. Quick coat of paint to smarten her up for work and a mate's wedding After blowing the head gasket and replacing it at Billing, the engine threw a rod after a month, I replaced the engine with another diesel and when the MoT ran out broke her for spares as the chassis was seriously bad. Then I went a bit poofy and brought a 90 Nice and comfy, reasonably quick, good at towing, but for me a bit boring. So when the chance came up to buy Doyley's V8 2A, the 90 went and I've never been happier with a truck.
  19. I've got green ones on my 2A 88, much better then the standard ones I've had on my old Series 3 88.
  20. I had a TD 90. It had 134,000 miles on the original engine, pulled really well, would sit at 70mph all day, started from cold with 20 seconds of heat and after that it would start just touching the key. I think at that mileage she was getting on a bit and getting smokier and smokier though. My best mate's 90 cracked all four pistons and the head though, was flat out at 60 and a poor starter.
