  1. Rakeway are the people to talk to. Nice lads too: Rakeway
  2. I will be there with a big enough crew from Club Land Rover Ireland. Will be camping onsite, as I have done for over 10 years! Wow I feel old now!!
  3. Hi Naks. May I have it too please? And the checklist? Thank you! Simon.
  4. Hi Neil, There are no green lanes here a such (in Ireland). However, we do have legal access to many lovely areas through our club: www.clri.net If you could arrange your trip around one on the club outings we would show you some lovely tracks and sights. PM me if you want more info or make contact with the club in general through the website. Simon.
  5. Great work, Todd. If you were to do it again would you do anything differently (I am about to do the same thing - just picked up a Discovery 300TDI for the right money yesterday)? I am going to use the turbo, though! Simon.
  6. I'll be there on the Club Land Rover Ireland stand. Pop in and say hi! Really looking forward to it. Simon.
  7. I am selling my one at the moment. I am in Dublin, Ireland. Will post some images at the weekend. It was Overfinched and is really nice. Details here: http://defender50th.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=918&highlight=
  8. I bought quite a few bits from both north and south and never had a problem. Found them both fine.
  9. Western - you're a gem. Thanks again! I will have a go at the weekend.
  10. Thanks Western - I will have a look. 1st/2nd/Reverse selection is fine (accross to the left) but the lever is very wavy or wandery and selection is very vague. There is little resistance on the lever. Does this sound like what you're describing? Thanks again! Simon.
  11. Hi folks, I bought a 2nd hand gearbox for the 90 and last weekend was it's 1st outing. The Gearbox (LT77) didn't come with a gearstick but i was able to use the one from the old LT77 that blew up. The problem is that gear selection is very vague at best. 1st and 2nd are not too bad but 3rd, 4th and 5th are not where they should be at all and it's very hard to select them. One suggestion I received was that the detent spring(s) may be missing / damaged. Anyone have suggestions, please? Thank you! Simon.
  12. Hi folks, I Have a Kenwood system and it has a Bluetooth phone system (Kenwood but the microphone is like a real car kit; i.e. it is separate and the sound quality is top notch. I have the microphone installed at the top of the driver side window - near the sun visor. My vehicle is an Anniversary 90 Auto with extra sound proofing so it's fairly quiet in Defender terms. Never had a complaint. The display on the head unit shows the caller details etc. Hope this helps? Simon.
  13. Another vote for Gwyn Lewis kit. My 1st outing with the kit installed was last weekend and the vehicle has been transformed. The articulation is fantastic. Feels so comfortable and solid off road. And on road is far better than I expected. I went with the cheaper Rough Country dampers and thought I would be dissapointed. I have used OME dampers in the past and they are really good but thought that the spend was a little rich at the time so went with RC. I am pleasantly surprised. When I spoke to Gwyn to discuss prop shaft options, he was very helpful and not at all in a rush to get me off the phone. I bought his kit through David in LLama 4x4. and again, David is a really nice guy... likes to talk! On the other hand, been on to Devon 4x4 to try to buy from them (not their suspension kit - HD bumpers) and they never once called me back.... after me calling them 3 times! Went elsewhere.
  14. We went through 3 sets of pads before we discovered that the squeeking was caused by the calipers being fooked. Changed the calipers and no more squeek.
  15. Not sure about Atlas but Milemarker winches use the space where the aircon compressor mounts on the engine for the extra ZF pump to run the winch. Another vote for Milemarker winches. Unbeatable for reliability and power. They are a little slow though but I think this is fine unless you are in speed comp.
  16. I am just about to fit a winch (Superwinch EP9i) and have just fitted a split charge system to run a dedicated battery to power this winch. I have an Optima yellow top in the battery box already running everything and there is good room for another similar size battery. The yellow top dimensions are : (mm) 254 Long, 175 Wide, 200 High. So what would you suggest as a dedicated battery to run the winch? Where should I buy the battery (I am in Southern Ireland but am willing to buy from UK companies) and how much should I pay? Thanks! Simon.
  17. I have only used first four and the equipment is great and they are really nice to deal with. I have n connection with them apart from being a satisfied customer.
  18. These were a great help to me when I got it done. I did the non electrical work and got a mate to do all the switch wiring. My bit was straight forward. His bit was OK for him but is an auto electrician: clicky linky 1 and this is great: Reedx Website
  19. Thanks for this. Would you or anyone have contact details for him so I can ask for a refund, please? Thanks! Simon.
  20. I bought a discovery II Cruise contral kit from them last week online and then went to their website today to get their phone number to call them to see where the parts are and it's a holding page!!! And the phone number (+44 (0) 1785 282939) is ringing engaged all the time. Anyone know anything?
  21. I would love get a copy of the Nanocom maps if you could, Jim, please? Are they for TD5 Discovery or Defender? We have both. email:email address removed by Mod Thank you!! Simon.
  22. In a word no. Alloys will fit as follows: Series I (TDi) Discovery - Yes Classic Range Rover - Yes Disco II (TD5) or later - No P38 Range Rover or Later - No But I did get the newest Range Rover wheels and tyres (19") to fit mine thanks to adaptors and nuts from the lovely people at www.rakeway.com I will post images of them here on of these days....
  23. We had the very same clunk. Turned out to be the drive members / flanges and we changed all 4. Big difference.
  24. Hi Folks, I am thinking about buying a 2004 Discovery TD5 Auto (S model) and it has cloth seats. Is it possible to replace these seats with leather seats from a similar aged Discovery? The standard seats have manual adjustment and are not heated but the leather seats from an ES or HSE have electrics. Is there a loom in the standard Disco to run these? Any ideas on switchgear? Also, will any Disco II seats fit or will they have to be from 2003 on (facelift model)? Any suggestions where to buy the leather seats? Thank you! Simon.
