Tonk I looked at this it has a small plate on the Gon2far to stop it flipping over.
  2. Nige I have some green ones you are welcome to try and if OK we'll reach a deal. Nige T
  3. I have a hawse, cast I think for a Husky ( again I think) can't remember where it came from. You are welcome to look at it and have it for free if you like. I'm near Hindhead so not far from you.
  4. Nige mines ali about 1.5mm thick, takes knocks in normal use but will obviously bend/dent if you hit a tree. 2.5mm as Tonk should be OK, don't know about bending it, my bender only goes to 2 inch steel or 60mm OD pipe. We can get bends ready made if you need them, Aluminium rainwater supplies are reasonably priced and carry what you want, 029 2039 0576. Also I think that drainage centre at Send keep some stock but will get it fairly quickly.
  5. Nige we deal with 4*3 inch rainwater pipe in ally or even cast iron ( adds to the weight ) commes PPC in black or a range of colours. Nige T
  6. Nige I'll have a look in my rack of bits, may have some 3 inch ali tube, you can try it out then. Not til after Christmas though, Nige T
  7. Nige let me know if you need any help, I've also had a couple of volunteers to marshall. Let me know when the marshalls briefing is and I'll bring them along. Anyone needs to be pre event advised on scrutineering let me know, I'm at a bit of a loose end inthe winter with no racing.
  8. Nige have a word with Military Wharehouse (spelt as their card) on 01798 831955. They break military kit and may have what you want. Nige T
  9. I run two batteries in parrallel but have a switch ( boat chandlers in Portsmouth ) gives me options of OFF, ONE BATT, TWO BATT, OR BOTH BATT. Can be useful in protecting the starter battery if using accessories.
  10. A kit is available to fit MGF, engine in the back so no warmth to thaw washer bottle. Could be worth a look.
  11. Easiest finger saver is a short piece of string tied on the hook or cable at the start of an event, always there and easy to use. Our winch training course made several suggestions to a piece of long grass, straw or even a short piece of tree twig cut to a hook. I think at the MWWCE we should make a finger saver compulsory, loss of points for not using it? What do you think Nige, safety grounds?
  12. Anyone care to post any details I will draw up a table to make it easy reading. I can do it in excel and post it up after.
  13. This may already exist, but just a thought. I note another topic on propshaft lengths, angles etc., could we not in our infinite wisdom, come up with a list/database on land rover or other compitable propshafts. We could list overall lengths short closed and extended, yoke angles flange details etc. I'm sure quite a few on here have done some interesting research on project vehicles and come up with some odd results. Just wondering why we always reinvent the wheel for each vehicle really. Any thoughts.
  14. Had it 25 years Nige, if I remember correctly its a battery or 12 volt helicopter hand held lamp, useful if you want to open the helicopter door and shine a light at people below. Can't remember how I got it but I kept it as it may be useful one day. Not got anything like that in your stuff I suppose.
  15. Somewhere in my garage is a helicopter light, ex mil, 12 volt and bright, not used it in years so may give it a go.
  16. Pray tell me where at Plaistow Jon. I agree with Water Lane, the Gibbett and one at Fernhurst, Off the old ICI site with the tight trees at the top perhaps. Spent 3 happy hours up there when it was wet. Water Lane they have just cleared the trees, we did it with a 90 in tow (not literally) and he had a hard top no damage, he did say he didn't realise you could go to that angle without falling over, very impressed. We also did the one at Four Marks last week and although wet it has a hard bottom, probably not for Freelanders though.
  17. I don't but theres always one!
  18. Not that I will do this, but why can't you fit gas shocks upside down. With oil I guess they may leak but gas will leak either way up. Just thinking out of the box.
  19. Last time we did the area some reasonable lanes, nothing to taxing but a few are tight, look at the OS maps and you should be OK. Water Lane at Alton is very washed out and rutted, they have now cleared the trees on the left as you come down, you can now see what its like before going in.
  20. Yes Carolyn McKay, Barford Cottage, Churt Farnham Surrey, excellent value and nice people, just up the road from me. Should be in the phone book probably under A McKay. About 3 miles away and a good pub too.
  21. Agree fully with Nige and as I'm scrut thats that then.
  22. Yes and recovery as I have winches front and rear plus lockers. Looking for a marshall then, better have a word with Nige then.
  23. Its also about common courtesy, say good morning with a smile, not whats this pile then, and you're already half way there, I've seen it at high profile events and you often never see the scrut again after that. If you are nice to the competitor they are normally nice back and you get any minor bits fixed easily then. Mind you there is always an exception, especially karts, so I don't do them at all.
  24. Normally bitter but in the mornings tea, joking aside its not normally a problem at these events, Nige and I like to have a good fun day, no hassle or grief, so prepare well and all will be well. When I started scrutineering I was told we are not here to stop people competing but to overcome any issues of safety. In the last eight years of motor racing I think I have only stopped one car racing and that one you could poke your fingers through the roll cage. The owner said but its a 1968 car with the original cage and I want to keep it original, answer, put it in a museum then. We normally will tell people they have a problem, go away and fix it, if it cant be fixed, we will unless critical as above, let them play. However someone has to define critical and at MWMC that is mine and Niges role.
  25. I will as I'm scrutineeering the trucks.
