  1. Yes so it seems but they come with the outer flange etc as well. Metal looks OK, the proof of the pudding will be in if they last, at £110 for two a couple of years would be OK, I've broken 4 in the last 12 months.
  2. Here are some pictures, I have some more but these should help. Sorry they are big but I thought it would be better for these Nige T
  3. Nige what about a racing bag tank, would fit in the existing tank with a few mods and no more leaks. Worth a thought.
  4. Better than I thought so no problems there.
  5. Seems the halfshafts have arrived, wife phoned to say heavy parcel from TIC, those who want a look I will post photos or can arrange to meet locally for a look. Let me know what you would like to do.
  6. I think they are screened, water can still get in. The military did waterproofing kits for land rovers as well. Quite a lot of work to do the job properly because they do everything including the dash instruments etc. The ignition screening could I think be made watertight with a bit of effort though. It should already help Ie splashproof/water resistant. The plugs are probably the easy bit as it all screws together and they are supposed to be good quality, although expensive from land rover. I have two sets but at present don't use them although putting them back in is a future project. I have Aldon ignition in the lightweight and it really does work a treat.
  7. My set up is on a four cylinder but uses a cap with (for arguments sake) a tin can screwed on over it. I have a full set if you want a look.
  8. the armoured snatch land rover i have at work uses these plugs, leads, and dizzy cap the dizzy used for v8 engines is the 35DML8 which is a standard dizzy used for 3.9's just a different cap and the coil has a plug on cap thing to the satndard coil Nige I found this. I have some plugs and leads if you want to see them. The leads are a standard lead in a metal sheath and could be waterproofed quite easily. Looks like you only need the cap for a standard dizzy.
  9. Nige you could try XWD at Bury, if I pass I'll pop in and ask.
  10. Nige you may be able to try the military leads and plugs off 24 volt LRs. These are semi waterproof but at the plug end are sealed, it cant be beyond the ingenuity of people here to come up with something for the other end. Just a thought.
  11. Price 159 Euros delivered About £ 110.00. Yes you can look and I will post some photos.
  12. I have bitten the bullet and ordered a pair of T I Console half shafs, should be here within the week. If you want a look I'll arrange to meet before I fit them. I'll let you know when they arrive Nige T
  13. I think its obvious, its a lightweight, built in which year?
  14. Its in the New Forest, but not there this year so not Minstead after all.
  15. We could at least have winched it out first time, especially with Niges winch.
  16. Yes he should have a batch in during October/ November so he says.
  17. Thinking of toughened half shafts, its them or KAM but KAM means changing diff centres to 24 spline. I may go that route as I want to get back to 4.7 to 1 diffs, long time since I took diffs apart though.
  18. Anyone dealt with T I Console, I understand that they have no importer to the UK now. I've tried e-mail and got no response, anybody got a telephone number. Any feedback would help, do they do what they say, do they deliver promptly etc.
  19. Define worst, been in deep water and mud, needs a winch OK. Took wife, brother, sister in law and three kids out, stuck for three hours in alane at Fernhurst, winched through various sections and finally gave up. Much earache, not overly difficult in the stuck stakes but much worse in the ear bashing. Drove same lane not after much rain with Fitz and Gary no problems it had dried out and could be driven, just goes to show what a bit of rain can do.
  20. Safari engineering, Keith Gott, Kingsley Cross Country, take your pick.
  21. Its a long story, but basically the PTO has a flange facing back through a hole in the crossmember, this is standard propshaft size. This gives you a sliding joint, I machined down the rear propshaft at the sliding joint and bored this to take the round bar 3/4 inch for the shafts. Two UJ's and a couple of phospher bronze bearings to take me to the winch and hey presto. This all means the winch runs backwards so I rewound the cable the other way, not ideal but seems OK. It may be possible to change the output from the winch, I'd like to see it if possible, or as I initially did run the winch with reverse gear in and forward gears out. The winch works well and would pull a house down. Can't post now til Monday as I'm off to Goodwood for four days. Nige T
  22. Heres some pocs of mine. Front. Rear Niges front chassis, sorry about the junk but thats where it lives now. Hope these help.
