Tyres 235*85*16 Grizzlys.
Trying to get better off road ability, height can be an advantage, clearance or a disadvantage, rolls over, so a happy medium is the answer.
Got to have clearance and room to move the wheels about, but want COG low to prevent roll over.
You two seem to be the only leaf sprung people doing this sort of thing so will have a good look at your trucks at the HBRO MWMC in Feb.
Got some nice stainless hoses so all right there.
But how long can I take the shackles at the rear, it hits the underside of the tub boxes at the moment so another inch may help.
Thanks people, I'm not sure I want to go to 36" as like Tonk i would then think of rolling it, but 24-30" seems to be where I would like to be. Nige tells me you've modded the spring hangers as well Jon Nige T
Here are a couple of pics as the ltwt is now.
I get 22 inches of articulation at present with parabolics and +2" shocks front, standard heavy duty rear.
Got some longer shocks for the back at Sodbury so on they go.
I have 5" shackles on the rear and standard on the front, if I put longer shackles on when do I get propshaft problems and is it worth the trade off.
What are the longest I can use, I'll try 6" on the rear and add an inch to the front first to see what effect that has.
As you can see it gets 16" front lift with the opposite rear on two 4" blocks, the right front is about 2" off in these pics.
Anybody with scrutineering problems let me know and I will try to have a look at an event or you can come to me. We have a bit of time to sort any problems. Some will probably be sorted by a phone call, it still amazes me how many competitors phone to clarify a rule and the answer is read the Blue Book ( or ARC Green Book ) or read the regulations for your championship or event.

Mine came out of the ark. No name on it but it does the job, only 8 inch swing but OK for most things except brakes.
Paid £50 two years ago, got it from modelmaker magazine, worth a look.
Good things heard about Myford so go there or big second hand items. Look around.
Did the run off the Gibbet last night, having a bad week so thought a bit of therapy was in order.
Still steep and washed out although they have done some work at both ends, good fun in twighlight, went on through Shackleford and Compton and back through Tilford, not that hard but good fun in the dark.
Probably broken another half shaft though big bang, can't wait to put the toughened ones in.
Right here goes.
Splines outer ends 28.3mm
Splines inner ends 28.3mm
Diameter of long shaft 27.25mm
Diameter of short shaft 27.15mm
(Different batch maybe?)
Long shaft excluding threads 886mm long
Short shaft excluding threads 629mm long
Sorry for photo quality but these were taken a 7am before going to work, if needed I could take some more before fitting.
I will measure the old shafts when they come out as a comparison.
The answer is the same, if they made series 3 in 1989, 10 inch on SWB, 11 inch on LWB, mine though is SWB 11 inch front and 10 inch rear, but soon to be discs.
Nige, yes they asked me to trial at Nellys last year when I scrutineered but had to decline on non compliance grounds. Would have passed scrutineering no trouble though!
I spoke to Ed last night on another subject, will be in touch.
Tonk I like to be gentle with mine, treat it like a woman and all that.
