  1. Impressive, where can I get one?
  2. I use a toughbook CF71 and garmin GPS12, works atreat for me, would agree as above that a slightly smaller unit (Laptop) or a tablet would be a bit easier to install and use.
  3. If its not a rude question, how much? I might need one soon.
  4. I'm all for keep it simple, as above a few common sense rules will help everyone and as said before most on here are sensible anyway.
  5. Nige I bought a cheap one from Wickes, works fine and lasted a good few years. Don't know the motor size but it does OK for me. We also have a big petrol one for those tough jobs.
  6. Series 3 had dual circuit, servo assiasted so no probs there either. I did mine this way before going to discs.
  7. I got a Disco 2 at under 10K, TD5 auto, XS spec, 70,000 miles, they are out there.
  8. Be careful on your household insurance. Nige had issues with his.
  9. Anyone tell me what part number the CD magazine is on a Disco 2 2000 model. Or who makes it and the manufacturers numbers. Thanks.
  10. The old insurance renewal dropped onto the letterbox today. I've never really bothered as most insurers seem to specialise in being hoplessly useless, and I just can't be bothered to put up with the hassle, and just cough up every year,,,, Who do you work for Nige?
  11. Extract from the Blue Book Q1.3 spec for steel. 1.2.8. Guidance on Welding. All welding should be of the highest possible quality with full penetration and preferably using a gas shielded arc. Although good external appearance of a weld does not necessarily guarantee its quality, poor looking welds are never a sign of good workmanship. When using heat-treated steel the instructions of the manufacturer must be followed (special electrodes, gas protected welding). It must be emphasised that the use of heat-treated or medium carbon steels may cause problems and that bad fabrication may result in a decrease in strength (caused by brittle heat-affected zones) or inadequate ductility. 1.3. Material Specifications Specifications of the tubes used: Minimum Material Cold Drawn Seamless Carbon Steel Minimum Yield Strength 350 N/mm2 Minimum Dimensions (Ø in mm) 45x2.5 or 50x2.0 38x2.5 or 40x2.0 (For roll cages/bars approved prior to 1.1.95) In selecting the steel, attention must be paid to obtaining good elongation properties and adequate weldability. The tubing must be bent by a cold working process and the centreline bend radius must be at least three times the tube diameter. If the tubing is ovalised during bending, the ratio of minor to major diameter must be 0.9 or greater. 1.4. Exceptions The only exceptions to the foregoing requirements for Saloon, single seater and Sports Cars are as follows: 1.4.1. Safety Cage manufacturers may make application to the MSA for a Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) Certificate to be issued. Note: ROPS manufacturers wishing to make application for such a certificate should contact the MSA Technical Department in order to obtain details of the requirements to be met and the fees payable. Subject to these requirements being met a ROPS Certificate will be raised and SAFETY CRITERIA Q 232 This may help, basically to comply with MSA rules you must use CDS, I think ARC allow Corus tube to relevant BS.
  12. Many thanks, it gives me somewhere to start.
  13. Quite right not Mr Warnes Heavy duty, but heavier than the standard for PTO winch, I'll let Nige explain any other points.
  14. The Winner Siggy. Mine weighs in at 19.7 Kg before painting.
  15. Mine will be weighed and weight posted on here, probably tomorrow when larger scales arrive.
  16. What do I look for on a Disco 2 W plate 2000 71000 miles TD5 Auto XS Is 9-10K a reasonable price, and do I need to look at it carefully anywhere in particular? Thanks NigeT
  17. The spring manufacturers say use gas, but I kept oil for a couple of years and didn't notice any problems, the shocks were knackered at the end of it but that may just be age. Gas seems to damp better but again they are now new so it may just be that. I have longer shackles and they help especially at the rear with 235 85 Grizzlys.
  18. Another point to add the larger servo fits in a lightweight, the bonnet shape is different, needs a massage on the bonnet, about 1mm to big so not a problem.
  19. Surely its a question of centring the disc on the hub with no run out. I've made a template in ally to mark the holes in the disc, it sits inside the rear of the disc. On the hub I made another template to fit over the wheel studs ( used an old drum) its then easy and right. With TIC and a 262mm disc it must need a fair bit ground off the hub to fit the caliper I would think, it only just goes in with 302mm discs.
  20. Nige I have a box of v8 bits and distributors, not sure which they are. If you want a look let me know or just pop in. NigeT
  21. I agree with MogLite, loads of work in a club, maybe HBRO members would like a piggy back membership. Lots are now members through MWWCE.
  22. Looking at the summary, one got the compulsory section and one the quiz score, it wouldn't make any difference which got what as its a team event anyway.
