  1. Nice, Commercially viable? I bet if you took a batch along to a show you'd sel out, and take orders for more. Or maybe just sell the moulds to an exisiting company?
  2. Sadly predictable. Last time I drove it there were some "pikey" types in a very big old jeep and a shogun. No plates/tax etc. They insisted on driving off piste, up the stream, carving large chunks of bank off the stream sides. Yes, I did remonstrate with them, quite forcibly. But, the damage was done. Got to say that if I was the land owner, I would want it closed too due to the massive abuse.
  3. Lovely looking vehicle. Cherish her and look after her. And enjoy!
  4. Jason, can you tell me where you got the breakaway cable from please?
  5. R380 is defo MTF94, NOT ATF.
  6. An overlooked issue is, does he have a licence that covers trailers? I know od someone who lent his Disco and trailer to someone. The lendee wrote off both, and then confessed that he didnt have a licence at all, let alone one that includes towing. Remember, some of us older knackers have automatic trailer licences, some young wippersnapper types do not. And legally, not checling makes the lender responsible too!
  7. Do it. The world needs more series motors; they are a thing of beauty and should not be scrapped or messed about with. And what a great way to spend some time.
  8. Easy. Move. London's a smelly horrible place anyway.
  9. What an excellent adventure. I hope you have a fabuloous, interesting and enjoyable trip, with the odd challenge on the way to ad some spice. Bob voyage!
  10. If you use a bridle, make sure the included angle is suitable. i.e. use long straps/ropes.
  11. A truly excellent idea. I shall be a huntin' Prius. But, I will only pull them out if they're polite.
  12. You have to ask yourself, if the DMF is so good, why, when they fitted the Puma donkey, did they ditch the Transit DMF and go for solid. Answer? They don't last. Mine went at about 85k miles. I have since fitted a Rakeway solid flywheel with conventional HD clutch. No vibes worth talking about, no judder, drives beautifully. My son has also fitted one to his 110.
  13. I believe Ian wright in West Malling in Kent does training. www.thewrightevent.co.uk ( I have no connection to them).
  14. The fault is probably the header connector. It lives in the bulkhead in the looma rea behind where the rear wash-wip and lighter socket are fitted. Its a piece of plastic, about 8mm x 40mm. Note there are a couple oif them so you will have to try wiggling them to find the errant one. Give it a little wiggle and your lights will probably come on again. Note that the poor connection may lead to heat build up so you should get a competent sparks to remove the header and make good all teh connections. This is just a way of connecting lots of wires easily at manufacture. As an aside, the light switches are notorious for failing, so I carry an old one with the wires shorted, so if I have a problem I just swap them out as a temporary measure.
  15. I am going to Morocco in April next year for a few weeks, but intend to have a few days in southern Spain en route. There will be three vehicles, and we would like to explore some legal and interesting off-road tracks in the area. If anyone has any knowledge of some good, interesting, scenic tracks that can legally be driven by three well equipped vehicles driven by experienced and capable drivers, then I would be very pleased to hear from you. Memory map or GPS tracks would be especially welcomed! Also, any advice, legal info or insider knowledge of the ins and outs of off-road driving in the area would be very useful. Thanks. Bren
  16. Speak to Gwyn Lewis, he will sort you out with all you need. Top bloke.
  17. May be the switch, but mosr likely the header. Its a multiple connector. There are several in the wiring system. The one you need (if on a Defender) is tucked into the wiring behind the fuse box up to the area where the rear wash/wipe and lighter socket are. If you go in form the top, look for a blue plastic thing at the end of a ribbon cable. There are several fo them. Just wiggle it till it works. It will be poor connections. You might, if you're lucky, get the lights to come on by hitting the area immediately above the fuse box. Go on, you know you want to.
  18. Done. Come on chaps, lets not lose another one. Sent a letter or e-mail.
  19. Saw this at Billing. Quite imposing, but what was he thinking with that paint job? Was thinking about 6x6. I note he has free-wheeling hubs on the rear axle to allow for on-road driving. I wonder how practical it would be to fit a Quaife viscous coupling in the drive train between axles to give permanent 6x6. I know there would be issues with prop lengths, oil bath etc, but as a fit-and-forget working drive train I think it would be a good concept. Just needs a bit of thought to make it work. Steps back and awaits the brickbats.....
  20. I have this set up. It works fine and I don't think there is any more vibration. I would certainly do it again given the option.
  21. I carried on looking, and there are at least 2 more which are obviously trying to pull a fast one w.r.t. tax exempt status. I pity the poor sods who buy them and get caught out.
  22. ebay item 220563693683 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LAND-ROVER-88-4-CYL-GREEN-HARD-AND-SOFT-TOP_W0QQitemZ220563693683QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item335a9ee073 Is it me? Or does this just scream series three from every angle and every element, except the number plate? i.e. its not really tax exempt. Spotted while surfing the "classic cars" section on e blag. Streuth there's some carp on there. But a few gems, an immacualte Aston Martin Virago caught my eye. If only I had a garage to put it in...
