If nothing is coming out using the manual pump on the lift pump then replace it as the diaphragm is probably shot. this will cause an issue as the injector pump will not be able to draw enough diesel through, sounds like the problem i had and this was the same issue with normal power up to 2000rpm but nothing after. The sedimentor has a 13mm(i think) bolt on top that you can undo and the bowl will come off so you can clean it out. you may need a new O ring for it though to reseal it back up, i think they are a few quid off ebay.

that sounds like the one i have now, dust cover is a right pain to fit in

Air con belt one it is, i replaced mine a few weeks back and had to get everything new as mine fell off(forgot to tighten the bolts up) . can you get a picture up as it sounds different to the one i got as it all went together on mine fine

Which tensioner is this? the air con or the fan belt?

Forgot the inlet was on the front of the airbox, Doh!, If you have a safari fitted you can make use of the area infront of the airbox for a battery.

Just make sure you get a sensible battery, or if you can fit one on the other side on the rad as all it needs it a link to the other battery. from the other thread running i think you'll be after a 072 type battery as the tray on the discovery is a bit small.

Changed the filter many times, as i did block a few up. running straight diesel atm but i think i'll replace the injectors

When i got the disco i have now it was VERY sluggish, after a good service, some injector cleaner and adjusting the pump abit it improved but i still don't think its right. I have a bigger intercooler, running more boost and removed the EGR, I replaced the Lift pump as that failed and things improved a bit more and have checked the timing and fitted a new belt just to be sure. The last thing i am thinking of doing is fitting new injectors as the engine is on 165k and afaik its never had any new ones fitted. I know TDi's arn't the quickest things but anyone got any other suggestions to check

Be interested in the results on the wideband, should be running about 14.7 when cruising along and maybe down to 13 - 14 when floored, if its running 13's when cruising then that might explain the poor economy and the coking up on the heads

Cold Cranking AMPs is what too look for in a battery

how big is the motherboard basically, if you can find the make and model of the mobo it will be easier t find a box to fit it in

Clogged 2 filters in no time at all when i started running on veg due to the carp it pulled through from the tank and the bits i had left in it. Always carry a spare now just in case

Found that one out aswell New lift pump made the truck loads better

The only other thing that comes out as white smoke is oil burning in the exhaust housing on the turbo, but usually when a turbo oil seal fails they just empty all the oil either into the inlet and run away or exhaust and then sieze if not noticed due to no oil.

The discovery's had a cat on the 300tdi but they are mostly particulate filters to stop some of the soot coming out the back

My 300 runs noticeably quieter(for a diesel) since I started using veg.

Sounds like steam to me, is the water level ok? probably just collects also of water in the exhaust as it cools down and evaporates it when started if all seams ok with levels

What colour is the smoke, white, blue, black?

Sounds very much like the viscous fan it locking on to early or worn out.
