How long have those welded shafts lasted so far?
-
I tried buying a fuse cover off them last year and never got a response, I hadn't paid them at that point so decided to buy elsewhere.
-
isn't it for wading? saves trying to find the hook under water.
i dunno why there's one on the drivers side, thats why you take slaves people out off-roading!
;)
There isn't one on the drivers side of the cage......

Good to see you still have your sense of humour
In a year or two it will all just be a bad memory
-
Well if you have nothing to do for a few days you could try restoring http://www.ebay.co.u...215817130066531
I reckon it will need new front wings......

Your insurance will cover all that Mikey, worry about premium increases later. This is what you've paid your premiums for !
Mo
Won't there be a slight issue with that as the accident happened a while ago now and the car is now stripped down. Can't see the insurance company being 'happy'....

I sprayed the 88's new roof last weekend, outside, with Paintman's cellulose paint, no problem. was about 16o out of the wind
In my defence there was frost on the ground here when I posted the quote about it being a bit cold, seems like summer out today
Bloomin strange weather....

The fokelore worked for me Mo on my replacement engine
The bar I used was a very close fit as I had turned it on a lathe. The spigot bush in the old engine actually came out with my finger
-
They need a special tool to fit them don't they? They are like rivets on steroids .....
-
To be honest that would have been my next suggestion, probably be the cheapest place to get the right capacitor as well
Nice when you find another Landy fan when you least expect it
-
Lol
I'm up for that.... first day of snow I'm out hunting Prius!
-
Oooo, nice. is the grill spot welded to the tubes?
It looks like the bottom and side triangles are welded in but the top triangle is held in with screws, probably to allow for carrying long stuff.
I like that idea
-
Bit cold to be spraying outside this time of year isn't it?
-
Start capacitors are sometimes switched out of the circuit using a centrifugal switch which is built into the motor. You hear a click once the motor is up to speed. I have seen others that use a current sensitive switch instead.
-
Cheers for clarifying that Ralph

Thanks to the wayback machine you can view the red ibex having one shaved here

Some motors have start capacitors, some have run capacitors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_capacitor
Sounds like you put a start capacitor on instead of a run capacitor.

Wow, best part of forty quid for two stickers

The use of an alarm with an imobiliser built in whilst more expensive than a switch does have the added benefit of making noise as well. If you want you can have a hidden switch as well. The more you add the more chance you have of them giving up ...... oh and the longer it takes you to get going when you want to use your Landy to

.....
Looks like the CB antenna will need moving then
although I suppose I've got plenty of places to bolt it now.
....
You might need to move the rear number plate as well.....

That sir, is a work of art!
Erm, how will you take it off to paint it?
-
It used to be www.jbcuttingtools.com but they seem to have let the domain registration lapse.

How did it remove so much metal? It looks like after the teeth took a holiday it was rubbing on something.... maybe a chunk broke off and remained stuck in the crownwheel thus protecting the crownwheel and stripping the rest of the pinions teeth and giving that heated scored look on the pinion?
Feasible?
Why do I bother ?

A lot of us are quite obsessive about our vehicles even if we do moan about it, if a Land Rover wasn't the focus of this obsession something else would be..... JMHO
