  1. Sorry, my bad. I did mean the stub axle seal, trying to multitask again! However I do wonder if migration of CV grease into the diff is much of an issue unless you have a banded LSD. I change the diff oil every 3k-5k.
  2. Used one shot since it came out - but always remove the inner seal to allow through movement of diff oil. Also add a couple of squirts of ep90 to the one shot....
  3. I think it's the individual. I'm a shrinking 6' and now a svelte 13stone. When I was working for LRE I was about 15 stone. I loved the Freebieone. Found it really nice to drive as it fitted me. I find certain vehicles are just plain uncomfortable. I fit in the front of the Evogue nicely and the DiscoSport. The D5 makes me squirm after about 5 miles. Yet I can sleep sitting upright in a Defender... Vauxhall tend to cause me back ache (apologies for the O/T mention of a non Land Rover/Non 4x4 manufacturer...
  4. Blanco I know the guys at Loglogic fairly well - we use their Softracks Do you have a buyer - I know someone who is looking for a mobile mill
  5. Shame In my write up on the Evogue I questioned why it's figure head was Mrs Beckham. 4 kids. More luggage than Howard Hughes on Safari. For a car that can't fit sub adult passengers in the rear seats and doesn't have room for a pram in the boot...
  6. The only Ransoms lawn mowers I can think of with Kubota engine are blessed big triples and 3/5 gangs - do you have a massive garden? Sorry for the O/T question
  7. Something else will fail soon - such is the way of the D2
  8. I was more suggesting a test drive - go forbid you would buy one; most impractical vehicle yet from the Land Rover stable
  9. Try Mantec - all the original stuff came form there. Extreme just copy
  10. When you did the oil change on the TDV8, did you drain both sumps?
  11. If you go onto the mire that is Facebook, there's a page called (oddly enough) Land Rover Campers. It's actually quite good (mainly because the admin are hard as hell). There's a lot of knowledge on there as to what to do as well as a few guys who've done it
  12. are you sure your front difflock is not engaged?
  13. Might I suggest the Evogue? I had one on test a back when they came out. It was huge fun. Massively impractical but scored very high on the Hoonometer. I will admit to pushing it quite hard...
  14. I lean towards the front of the Disco sport is being bland, whereas the D5 is all bland. I never liked the D3 or D4 shape when they came out - now I'm thinking how much I like the look. As I get older, will I lust after a D5?
  15. Sorry to be pedantic Nige - it didn't fail. That splinter group prospered until it was sold out by it's founder. Then thanks to strong moderators with excellent technical knowledge and passion it kept it's head above water; until it was knifed in the back by the owners of the magazine that had bought it out. Not that I'm bitter at all
  16. And once again I would agree with you Primarily it is now a technical site - with added humour and humanity, with people who are old friends or not. It was founded on the burnt out remains of a forum that was based upon a mix of social, technical and anorak. It will never cease being technical so there is no need to fear off topic posts. In fact what is off topic? I own a Land Rover based product, it's a 4x4 and I have to fit my three dogs in there. More LR content than fitting a 606 into a scratch built buggy. More content then a discussion on what is the best 4x4 pick-up or best insurance for Europe - yet those very posts have provided huge amounts of useful information, interest and entertainment. Rattler lost his dog. He can't express his sadness to his mates down the pup, so he comes on here and does it. No problem. There is more to this world that Land Rovers and 4x4's but what if your life revolves around both of those subjects and you want to talk about something that doesn't? Nige's injuries (and mine - but there was LR content in mine) need a place. Camping needs a place. Kids and 4x4's need a place I'll pick up Need 4 Speed's offer and I'll run with it
  17. I agree, things change - I think 'review with an intention to upgrade'
  18. Maybe he is referring to Khan and ICONene (obs not proper ICON in 'Merica and not Joe and Joetta public
  19. It adds humanity to the technical side. You'd have to one sad individual to live life with nothing but technical input and output. A forum should have humanity - but controlled Matt's suggestion (note that so many good things come form the southwest) is a great idea.
  20. I was standing in the office kitchen window yesterday, watching the weather and looking at a brand new Disco Sport HSE parked outside. I found myself thing what an attractive rear end it had. Slightly off topic I know - for which I heartily apologise
  21. On another note, Les - my deepest sympathy for your loss. As father to three girls I cannot begin to imagine how much that hurts.
  22. Sorry for the hi-jack - god forbid but I'm briefly going off topic! Chicken, I've sent you a few PM's could you let me know you got them please. Sorry for the hi-jack/off topic post
