  1. I honestly can't see where the problem is James - your motor is one of the nicest TD5's I have driven tuned or not AND I have driven a hell of a lot over the last few years. Compared to say Vince Cobley's old Tomb raider it is streets ahead (mind you that thing was a bag of pooh).
  2. Why? It drives really nicely and pulls like a pulley thing. Lovely drive - I like your old bus.
  3. Sorry Son - don't tell your mother
  4. Td5 Easy to fix and the parts are readily available, like the sound it makes and its grown on me. Still prefer a 200Tdi tho'
  5. Jim, What is the max ampage draw at full load? 12 volt version only please maestro!
  6. Good point. A standard RR will out articulate a 90 (as will a 110). Mind you when you tweak a RR a bit it gets quite fun! Even with tired Britpart progressives and well worn ES9000's my old bus can score into the medium to high 700's on an RTI ramp. In the last 40K she has seen a massive amount of off road miles and rarely let me down on the twisty bits
  7. They are okay but there would be others ahead of them in the que
  8. Well D4x4 are making the ropes and Rufftraks are selling it to them albeit lR want to keep schtum about it so I haven't told you!
  9. Was interested, very interested, even though it has the wrong lump but the fickle gods of automotive transport have struck again this morning and I have to buy a new exhaust for the wifes car including cat AND a new steering rack and two new tyres. So I am going to go and cry in a darkened room
  10. Amsteel is excellent - takes a good beating very well, like dogs, women and walnut trees Dyneema Bowrope is also very good and can take more general abuse than the others except the sudden massive stretch forces of wheel assisted winching in competitions. This is used a lot by the military special forces/secret squirrels Plasma 12 is the best competition rope as it will take much more stretch but it is more susceptable to hard core abuse in working conditions- it is also the prettiest and is what LR are using in orange form on G4.
  11. What do you want to do with it? OME is good for every day stuff and off road but is expensive Pro-Comp is excellent off road but not too good for towing/Weight carrying but is cheaper than OME TJM is superb for off road and loads and cheaper than OME and probably the longest lasting spring for non sag Dobinsons HD is very good for loads but a bit stiff for off road and is cheaper than OME 4x4Australia is good off road and reasonable for load/towing Scorpion is not a subject I should mention at the moment Eibach is superb and reasonably priced Britpart progressives are very good all round but start to sag after a year or so of abuse Blue are a good make Iron Man are ok Trailmaster are ok I can give you a number for purpose made springs from here in the UK The list is endless As for shocks - if you want to match spring lengths and not disconnect than use the same manufacturer as your springs but if you want a bit of disconection then Pro-Comp ES9000 are the best value for money shock on the market. If you have limitless money then go Fox 3"remote reservoir with air assistance and double bypass
  12. Ramsey Good winches - over priced new here in the UK, buy from US of A or Europe REp is the dogs hairey doodads for balls out reliability - hence the reason why it is copied so much. Why do you ask pray?
  13. I have the latest but haven't opened it yet - will read it before sleepybyes
  14. Good on yer Don! And as for the whole business, if any of you including SImon (who I support whole heartedly) are naive enough to think that good products won't be 'almost copied' then you need to grow up and smell the flowers. Colin is a business man in a tough industry and if he can make an extra buck then he will. The only reason the post count has hit the roof is because this time it's someone we all know. The blatant 'almost copies' of Southdown/Mantec/Equipe/MJLee/AliSport and so many others over the years is just the way it goes. No I don't like it, no I don't condone it, yes it has annoyed the hell out of me because I like old Simon and I think he is a bloody clever bloke but it's life. So why not stop nit picking at who did what with whom and when and get on with life.

  17. Oaks are good - long may it continue (and I do mean that)
  18. If you have the ZF74 then it should be running at 100Bar (10MPa) and 13.5ltrs/min at prime work rate but if you have the wrong pulley on - who know what... Low Gear High Gear 2,680 KG 3.6 M/MIN 18.7 M/MIN 2,909 KG 3.0 M/MIN 16.5 M/MIN 3,363 KG 2.5 M/MIN 14.5 M/MIN 3,860 KG 2.2 M/MIN 12.5 M/MIN 4,700 KG 2.0 M/MIN 11.1 M/MIN So at approx 8,000lbs in low you should be about a foot faster every minute but at 5,000lbs you are the snail to it's tortoise!
  19. Well it seems to have attracted a bit of the latter but it was actually intended as a serious question. There was no suggestion of comparison with 'a certain other forum' (Tony ). This forum has been creating it's own niche quite nicely - a pleasant surprise - but it has quietened down quite a bit recently hence the question. senescing - is the gradual vegetative breakdown that occurs in plant material once maturity is reached. I was likening the forum to a tree and questioning whether is had finally developed as far as it could and was now experiencing the slow, gradual decline to nothing.
  20. I like to pop in every couple of hour or so just to see what quality posts have been made and laugh at the mindless drivel. Over the last month this forum seems to be quietly slipping away. This is the weekend. On ORRP there have been hundreds of posts in the last couple of hours. On the SA forums so many that it takes 20 minutes to catch up - even the Russina 4x4 forums are all a chatter. I pop back here and once I have moved the tumble weed out of the way, I have to search for new posts. What is going on eh?
  21. Andy, A DSE on a P went for 700quid at the Auctions in Bridgwater last year. Needed a 300quid fuel pump and ten minutes on the diagnostic There was a brilliant article in 4x4 Mart in Feb on P38's - great bus
  22. Hello Son Have you got a 229CCM pump or a 295CCM pump? is it flowing at 13.5ltr/Min and are you getting 100Bar? With 8K lbs on it it should be the same speed as an 8274 in low
  23. I have a CF27 that a certain Mr M Lite sorted for me. Great bit of kit.
