  1. If you want info on Pro Comp speak to Mike I run Britpart medium +2's on my rear (oooer) but am about to change to some s/h OME jobbies, as the progressive nature of the Britparts is getting a bit saggy when heavily loaded I have recently had a experience of TJM stuff - OME but painted yellow - very good. About 90 quid a pair IIRC
  2. The best is probably KAM - have fun even trying to talk to them! I like the ARB/TJM stuff but it has drawbacks as well as benefits, neither of which I will go into here because someone will get prissy! Maxi drive is cool but sooooo expensive! I like LSDs - I like the fit and forget aspect and even though they are not quiet as good as full lockers in some situations they are available all the time. Having said that though I don't like the harshness of the Detroit which is why I have a truetrac fited in the rear axle. It does the job very well with very few bad habits and it cost next to nothing, it's a doddle to fit and can be used on and off road. All in all it suites the general purpose use of my vehicle.
  3. as little as possible and as much as I could afford. It's an odd market - you will get what you can get
  4. My old Hi-lux ran the 5.7 with holley pro-jection and Offy bits with Crane cams. lifters and oil pump - all through a Torqueflight from an MF combine. Used to shear UJ's for a pastime when on 35's - but not on 33's! If you lifted the pancake off, you could see the four dwarves with buckets, throwing petrol into the carb! 360bhp and 470ft/lb on the dino and that was back in '88. Used to to really upset Tim Webster (God rest his soul) when we went laning... I love Chevy's
  5. Les My info book gives me 50ft/lbs but my torques book gives me 60! so lets go 55... It's PTFE by the way and very nicely done. Red would be more in keeping with your (old) boy racer image rather than silver
  6. Spare axle in garage - pre 86 EFI type. You can come and get the bits you want and take them away for an agreed sum
  7. I noticed that bilge pumps seem to be the rage in Oz these days.
  8. I would say he is about spot on there!
  9. Yeah - looks good. Glad Paul has offered to lead. Does he know?
  10. Add to that Paul Challis and Mike Green, with Pete turning up in the afternoon...
  11. CJ and Aj aren't coming - Pete is. I think one of the guys from S4x4R is coming as well. Mike Green may be turning up as well.
  12. All of the Godfather films on DVD AND some tasteless tousers! Our friends Jeff and Kirsten had a baby boy this morning so that was fun too!
  13. so the safe working load is twice what the winch can produce.... What problem? Happy Crimbo
  14. Got six of the bloody things so I know this problem well - Happy Crimbo
  15. "The Black Rat 4WD off-road block has heavy duty one piece steel side covers for ease of use and have a gold passivated finish. The sheave is made from high grade cast Iron with a precision machined groove to accept 11mm wire rope with a pressure grease lubricated bearing. Minimum breaking strain 8,000kgs." I can e-mail you over some piccies later or bring it with me on the 29th.
  16. Tony, Did you have any luck in your search for a Plasma friendly pulley block? If not have you looked at this: http://www.4x4wire.com/reviews/eoprecov/Dcp02020.jpg They are just what the Doctor ordered - I have one here if you would like a look next week. This is a better piccie: http://www.beaver.com.au/images/Products/4...125B-_large.jpg note the grease nipple. There is an R clip on the reverse side so the whole unit can be field stripped and zero play in the two halves
  17. Fi, Just get it serviced by a good, reliable mechanic. Change all the lubes and filters (even the funny one by the fuel tank if it is fitted!), replace leaking seals, cam belt and anything iffy. Check shocks/springs and bushes, body mounts and the rear floor. Throw in some new bulbs in the head lights. Pack a SMALL spares pack for self fix and get recovery for as much of Europe as possible. Fill up at a BP station on the way to the ferry and splash out on some Ultimate diesel for the first tank. Oh and don't worry I can't remember wher you live but if you are stuck for a good garage, drop it down here and we'll do it at work. If you live over Kent way get D90SV to do it as he runs a reasonable service bay...
  18. Pete and CJ will be in seperate vehicles but we can always run groups of 5... Mind you AJ might come so we can always run 3 groups Thought about lunch at either the Badgers Holt or Raliegh Cross
  19. Will, Go Ashcrofts. They sort out problems under warrantee faster than you can say "mines a pint!" Drop it down to us after Crimbo and we will fit the new box for sensible money and a fitting warrantee.
  20. Timbo, Pete Broom is coming and possibly CJ - on the 29th...
  21. Had a chat with RM vehicles CO and they are all 300Tdi
  22. Kev, they are so last season! Been around for so long even my Grandad was using them between the wars! The latest fad is called 'sleeping in your vehicle'...
  23. Timbo, The Mag is great - excellent, but heavy. They are more of a roof pod than a true tent. Very good in wind and ****e weather. One drawback is the lack of weather screen when you get in them. Howling Moon are okay but carp in the wind and last a bout five minutes in bad weather - okay for hot, low wind climates with little rain. We sell Hannibal which are pretty good - probably the best true roof tent. Not cheap but well made and good in pooey weather. PM me.
