The newbury sortout htis Sunday that is - what time do the gates open for buyers?
I tried looking on their website but it comes up bandwidth limited exceeded!
Anyone got a flyer for it or anything?
Thanks

Why bother? The led bulbs are ridiculously over priced in my opinion, and in the 10 odd years I've owned my truck i think I've only blown one bulb. All the problems I've had with lights have either been down to corroded contacts, or I've smashed them to pieces on trees!

Fit a nice diesel engine then. No need for a cooling fan then really!
Its odd - I've had my kenlowe for years, and the only time its gone wrong is when the bearings were making such a horrible noise I had to replace them! Theres nothing to them really - have you taken the old one apart to fix it?

There are two different shocks available - "long pin" and "short pin" versions.
I'd suggest the aftermarket ones you've got are the wrong ones. Have you tried going back to your suppliers to see if theres a different part available?

Checked the inertia switch?
Otherwise can you smell diesel? Could be you've got an air leak somewhere in the fuel lines.

285/75/16 Bronco grizzly claws on 7x16 reversed 8 spokes.
I've had no issues, and when I bought them Bronco said they were fine on 7" rims.

Either box will bolt striaght to the LT77. However be aware that the gearbox mounts are different, the linkages are different and the propshafts are different!
Alot to change in other words!

Ingersoll Rand 2135 has my vote too. Far better than the el-cheapo ones.
CP are also good, but not as good as the IR ones.
I have a 1/2" IR 2135
a 3/8" IR 2115
a 1/2" CP 734H

I've been running 285/75's on 7" rims for years no problem.

Yes - late softdash ones were a bonded screen, and the screen itself is a different part.

Still a bit painful however! Its a piggy of a job and they'll want it in their workshop for the day to do it - its bonnet off, scuttle panel off etc to get to it all.

D'oh! I only had that replaced just before I sold it to you!!!
Bonded screens are nigh on impossible to remove in one piece before breaking them! May I suggest contacting your insuracne company to add windscreen cover? Cost me £60 to get it changed!

No worries - also worth checking crankshaft rear oil seal whilst you're in there too!

Dan,
Gearbox input seal is easy once you've got into the bellhousing. Take the plate off, pull out the seal, replace and re-assemble with a new gasket. 10 minute job.
Hassle is gettin the box out as you suggest.
You need to check that the spigot bush is in good nick as this can be a casue of it going. Might even be worth replacing it as a matter of course anyway whilst you're in there as they're not expensive.

Be aware that 11mm is not really thick enough on a PTO winch!
People ran 8mm steel on 8274's and are now running 11mm plasma (type) ropes.
I ran 11mm steel on my old fairey winch so I reckon you should be looking for more like 13mm plasma (type) rope.
A PTO or hydraulic winch is alot more powerful than the equivalent sized electric one in practice!

Standard repair section available from all the usual suppliers.

You can just adjust the ride height for the various modes on the diagnostics yourself. Its easy enough to do - just need a laptop and a few bits of wire and a tape measure.
Google EAS unlocker for a bit of freeware that will allow you to do it. I did it on my softdash classic.

I've got a sealey one I picked up at Sodbury last time that I'm very pleased with and it drilled lovelly round holes in 5mm roll cage mount plates I was making up at the weekend.

Nige,
Why dont you ask your mates???
I've got a full set of BSP taps up to 1"

No they're not the same as a defender. The bumper is spaced further forward on a series - look at the leength of the mounting brackets. If you fit a defender bumper the tyres will rub on the back of the bumper at full lock!
Jon

Fully agree with the above. Took mine off and threw them away years ago! Useless things IMHO. I cant imagine why anyone would bother fitting them these days.
They make sod all difference to fuel consumption or tyre wear etc.

I've got early 90 "lift handle" doors on my series and think they're far better than the old series ones. Having a window that actually opens large enough to stick your head out makes a huge difference for starters!

First question is what winch???
Assuming X9 type bolt pattern all you're likely to be able to find is a winch mounting plate. No-one makes off the shelf winch bumpers for series I'm afraid. I made my own......

Reading your description on there I'm afraid it hasnt got alot going for it. Its not tax exempt, it needs a gearbox rebuild, it doesnt run right and bear in mind that petrol series are thirsty beasts at the best of times!
That winch is only really useful for pulling skin off of a rice pudding.
Bearing in mind you can pick up an early 200tdi 90 now for between 1 and 2k, and a mate of mines asking £400 for a 300tdi discovery with 6 months tax and mot, I'd say you'd be very lucky indeed to get £1000 for it in the current market. A more realistic value would have to be around the 5-600 mark IMHO.

Powerflow / Longlife exhausts
in Series Forum

You wont get any benefit at allon an otherwsie stock 2.5 in using anything larger than a stock system.
I had a powerflow exhaust on my old rover 800. Have to say it was appauling! I went back constantly and compained about it and in the end took the thing off and modified it myself. It fitted where it touched (and it did touch in all the wrong places) the quality of the welding was appauling, it was dreadfully noisy etc etc etc. I would never use them again.
Bear in mind that they use 409 grade stainless which does go surface rusty. You need something like 304 or 316 if you want it to stay nice and clean and shiney.
