  1. No they will be made in India not China
  2. Deviating OT slightly, but regularly driving both 4x4 vehicles and one which runs in 4x2 most of the time, I can't see why anybody would want to fit 2WD to a vehicle that normally had permanent 4WD unless you like doing donuts The Ranger is useless in 2WD and often gets stuck on wet grass even with AT2 all-terrains on! This is partly due to the lightness of the back end when unladen but I honestly can't see any advantage in day to day use in having 2WD instead of permanent 4WD.
  3. Strictly speaking there is no type approval for a 7 seater with coils because they never made a seven seater with coils. I suspect as Les says you will probably get away with it, the problem *might* be if there is an accident with more than five people in the vehicle and the insurance company are looking for a reason to get out of paying up...
  4. If they are leaving it to check for a leak, IIRC I think the thing to do is leave a door open as this disables the air suspension system. Otherwise it periodically checks the height and re-adjusts it and will keep doing this until the reservoir is empty and there is not enough air to reset the ride height. Opening a door deactivates this automatic feature. Maybe if it is a sticky valve it just happens to be not sticking at the moment in which case it may be a PITA to sort out! I'd dump the air springs and fit coils personally. They don't go wrong often and if they do there will be a loud boing and it is pretty obvious what is wrong
  5. If its a head gasket or a timing belt I'd buy genuine only.
  6. Speak to Lara on here about what can be done with a Td5
  7. If it is that far gone then I would bin the lot and fit coils. Best thing before you start is to get it plugged into a computer - the fault could be something else like the height sensors which might shut down the system - if it doesn't know how high it is to start with it will probably lock out as a precaution.
  8. Nigel you should get yourself a decent winch with a bit of oomph then you wouldn't need all these snatch blocks
  9. I got a generic double ended one (ooer) from Halfords - 32mm Tdi and 36mm Td5/V8 for about a tenner. It doesn't come with the pulley holding tool but 1) you only need that when the fan is seized or overtightened so usually the first time you take it off and 2) a little bit of grease on the threads and tightening the fan gently when you put it back on means it will come off easily in future.
  10. Bearmach also sell the TMax double pump one. There is a thread about them on here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopi...amp;mode=linear
  11. I think mine did too, when it had a sticker I reckon the 2000kg is lifting as said, which will be 5:1 safety factor or more but you'd want to check that for sure...
  12. Any particular reason you aren't getting him to do the job? That doesn't seem like an unreasonable price to me.
  13. I expect you will find the part is either not available separately or the cost is prohibitive. Your best bet is probably to get a complete recon turbo I would say. Google shows up lots of possibilities for this http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q...earch&meta= which may or may not be much use to you due to your location.
  14. Check the air pipe connections too I have seen these with tiny leaks on a D3 which caused similar problems. A little plant sprayer full of soapy water is your friend
  15. A frame ball joint Rear shocker bushes Trailing link bushes Body mounts (really bad news...) As said if you regularly hit the bump stops in normal-ish driving you either need new springs/dampers or need to adjust the connection between the seat and the steering wheel
  16. You'll need a gauge and a sender that are matched to each other otherwise you will probably never get it to read right. In theory you can get it to "sit in the middle" by trial and error using a resistor in the circuit but it is not an ideal solution - a matched gauge and sender are the way to go.
  17. RTV silicone sealant which is oil and heat resistant Land Rover sell it for about a million quid for a toothpaste tube but you can buy generic black RTV sealant for a fiver or less for a big tube from motor factors etc. Anything else you should do? Fill it up with oil afterwards
  18. What engine? I assume if its a Range Rover and has an ECU we are probably talking about a V8 but that bit of info is fairly essential to the answer
  19. Try tow starting it, if the starter is the problem it should tow or bump start instantly. Doesn't explain the grinding to a halt in a cloud of smoke though
  20. May be off one of these? The little digger is quite cute too
  21. I don't understand it really but from what I do understand we are paying for a dedicated server so there bluddy well shouldn't be anybody hammering it. The present situation is completely unsatisfactory.
  22. Is it not the same diameter though, and just thinner section width?
