  1. Yes, No, and no need for specialist, but it can help sometimes. Honestly their biggest problem will be defeating the tin worm, it may look smart and together, but look in the right places (anywhere the steel is made from iron) and you'll be surprised how rotten it is I reckon...
  2. Agree with HoSS, any clean battery should not be delivering any measurable current, and just because the concrete is 'earth' doesn't mean it is the battery earth!
  3. Reckon you have your plug leads wrongly wired, and your no1 isn't no1, and you are reading off the 3 or 8 coil.
  4. Yes, I am on rhoads lifters, they are noisier, but only really when hot, and do not sound like a knock, more a slightly louder injector ticking sound. and no I didn't have anything to do with RPI!
  5. There's no need to isolate the body if the 24v alternator from the engine, that's its earth connection.
  6. How were you planning on charging the second battery? What you suggest would be a very bad design. Yes you can convert 24 to 12, change motor and solenoid and job done.
  7. Yep, I'm still on stock shafts, carry two spares all the time, but not needed them yet...
  8. Yeah, I'm also interested, looks a good fit that throttle body.
  9. It's either that, or doesn;t the weber conversion use an aluminium spacer ring to up the size of the carb inlet?
  10. Try and find a different speedo head, they have a rev/mile number at the bottom of them, and do some maths to work out which should be about OK Weirdly I have a SWB lightweight and 235/85s on it at the mo, and the speedo is bang on, most accurate speedo I own! Sorry for OT
  11. Yeah I think he mentions something about 2003 in his post, very nice work on the fuel rail I thought!
  12. Yes, someone has done it, I was just idly browsing the web and came across a nice write up: http://www.melsteve.plus.com/LandRover/index.html I know quite a few people had been interested in doing this, so thought I would post it ut Cheers, Pete.
  13. Bit of a difference in price though isn't there? Sub £1000 fully fitted for Patrol or LC80, vs.... what... £2K+ for Mog portals? Assuming you want discs and other stuff then probably more...

  15. Who drives around off road where you may get stuck without the centre diff locked anyways?
  16. I have on a number of occasions not had a working aerial, and just but a 1m length of ordinary wire and shoved it into the aerial socket. Iirc this is about the right length for FM, and gave me good reception for months before I decided to sort it out....
  17. Had a look at Stauff clamps, and think I have found a winner Page 38 and 30 of this: http://www.stauffang...EM%3d&tabid=662 Reveal these two clamps: Either would do nicely IMHO, holding the wires securely, both are made out of plastic so shouldn't short if for instance the wire got badly snagged and pulled the insulation off at a clamp. Will update with costs when I find them Bish, cheers for the offer, think I am sorted in this case, but if I fail I'll find a piece of polypropylene or similar and give you a ring.
  18. This is a useful link/discussion : http://forums.lr4x4....hp?showtopic=31 Failing that, have a search, been covered loads on here http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=37307 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=19436 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=5105 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=15039 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=22308 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=55646 http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=41632 etc.....
  19. Without out being able to look at it closely it's rather difficult to say.... Testing is a reasonable way to do it... the output winding should be lower resistance than the input. The input winding will have loads of coils of copper on it, the output far fewer and thicker. HTH
  20. Yeah, planning to make a trip to one locally very soon, work is still very much in the way at the moment, and off to london tomorrow again.... Will let you know how I get on
