  1. If its snapped one shaft it still won't turn the prop, will it? Pull the shafts, easiest way is unbolt the swivels from the axle tube.
  2. Academy insure me for off-road no problem.
  3. Woah, looking at that I would be assessing the whole chassis with a view to replacement...
  4. Yes you need to change the crank, the petrol one will just snap as it is not designed for a compression ignition engine.
  5. Have you checked for voltage at the bulb holders? You checked the brake light switch?
  6. He's not got a crappy ignition advance box installed has he?
  7. If it's not pointless, you are far better sticking a magnet to the outside of the filter to do the same job, any old speaker or similarly strong magnet would do exactly the same job IMHO.
  8. Ignition amp? Don't know which one if at all it will have TBH.... is it the one on the dizzy, or under the coil or....? If the dizzy one I guess you have swapped them, but if its the one under the coil then it could well be that. What plugs are you running?
  9. Have you serviced the carbs? If you've elimnated the electrical side it has to be fuel, surely?
  10. Calais - Dover is normally pretty cheap and available, arrive and drive was about £75 last time I did it (a couple of years ago admittedly).
  11. Can't really say that for sure, only giving my impressions of it, though it does seem to be pretty sensitive to how it is mounted/straightness of the mount. Having stripped mine recently I can confirm the gearbox seals work very well -the bowmotor was another story though!
  12. Yep, Bish had the same issue IIRC.
  13. Freespool on the TDS can be.... very free, or not very free in my experience. When I first installed it, it was hardly worth using freespool as it was not the one fingered job that David likes to demonstrate it is, it was a full on pull with one arm. After a few uses and removal and refits it was a lot lot better. Then.... I was trying a bit too hard to get up a mud bank, which the winch bumper was smacking into a bit, the next time I went to use the winch I fell over it was so free... not sure what I did but it seems the mount is very important to these winches. I have since serviced the winch and replaced the rather sticky grease with a much lighter one, with PTFE in it to help the freespool further, haven't tried it yet, but seems to move OK by hand As for speed, it's about the fastest lowline around IIRC, especially if kitted with a Bowmotor 1/2.
  14. A friend has the Halfords spare wheel one, and uses it contantly, well made and works well, even fits over his 35" tyre
  15. Mega... oh nevermind Knock to roll pin out of the end and swap the drives over
  16. Is it bolted to an auto box? Has it been fitted to the autobox before? In which case there are two output shafts to the box, one with longer splines which is the one you need to be able to install the cross-drilled input gear. An autobox from a car without a cross-drilled input will have the wrong output shaft, and need replacing -you should be able to do this in situ, as the output shaft is held on with just one bolt in the end of it. Ashcrofts normally hold these in stock, but also available from many other places (somehow I remembered the part number off the top of my head!): http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=47 If that's not your problem, then ignore me
  17. Since when was the reservoir under pressure? Hose and pipe clips will be fine.
  18. Use the google search icon right next to the normal search field.
  19. Ian, Is this the same box as the RRC one(albeit minor changes)? Not wishing to contradict you of course, but I managed to install my torque converter to the gearbox with it still in the truck, just too a small amount of wiggling to get it to sit home fully. Agree strongly on the three distinct steps to get it installed, I did it three times to make sure, and measure the bellhousing to flex plate mounting surfaces about a dozen times
  20. He's started a thread on the HPOC forum (as it's a common conversion to put these in Hiluxes for off roading), and using it to source parts/information: http://www.hpoc.co.u...showtopic=25987 Oh, and two more videos: Hillbillys? Noooo!!!!
  21. Lexus LS400 or Soarer a complete car goes for maybe £500 so really cheap For more info on them go to lextreme.com .
  22. My mate thought so, he recorded the sound of it revving up and has set it as his ring tone on his phone
  23. Yup, a 1993ish one... 4.0L, no VVTI, and importantly not an interference fit engine, the VVTI engine grenades if the timing belt goes. On MS, with a less restrictive exhaust than the stock one, and of course no AFM to get in the way, they are good for 275BHP with stock everything, if you want to go silly, supercharger or turbos for ~400BHP, again all on stock internals. With a few changes to rods/pistons you can get 1000BHP on a stock block I think it will be staying standard It's more secure than it looks TBH, locking pin was in, extra support in the form of a motorbike stand under the front of it, and all cable tied together.... it was less scary than I imagined walking over to it and revving it up
