  1. It will also strip all the oil from the bores and scrap the engine, HP diesel pumps will die as they rely on the fuel as lubricant.... the list is almost endless, but I shall stop there
  2. OMG, being that far out I hardly feel like the winner..... More than 5% of the weight of a landy, in just the back axle
  3. 'Classic' cover is generally only available to over 21's or over 25's in some cases... Try CIS -they have always been very competitive for young drivers, and don't mind mods too much, as long as you tell them!
  4. Hmm that's a 3 door...? But so is yours? If so then I have no flipping idea
  5. Llama 4x4 do spacers... either their 2" replacements for the original, or aluminium ones which are made to your own spec *CLICKY* Pretty cheap for the example 25mm one, at £11 each.... So say you went for a pair of the replacement spring plates @£35 (you would have to ring and ask Dave @ llama ofc!) plus your police spec springs.... you could get the job done for just over £100... plus new shocks -same sort of money as the body lift I guess...
  6. All teh Rangies I have seen have a sloping floor.... are you sure you've not lot the plot?
  7. Other option..... body lift? Relatively simple for the amount of lift you are looking at, just need to extend a few things, but could have the whole lot done for around £250, you could go almost as high as you like then... within reason.... and not upset your steering geometry at all. Do a search on here, there loads of info about body lifts etc. HTH, Bowie.
  8. Hmm.... you can get 35's on a Rangie
  9. Yep, either that or new stock springs and shocks, with 1-2" spacers
  10. ^^^ good advice. Just disconnect the coil lead while priming the oil through the system on the starter. Morrisons £4.49/gallon for cheapo 20w50 -run that in it for 500 miles then change it to something decent Assuming you oiled the pistins during fitting then there shouldn't be a problem there either -if you didn't, a squirt or two down the spark plug hole should help -not too much it it will stop it sparking That's about it I think Oh, favourite one to forget is the rear oil feed to the cylinder head -it comes out quite fast if you forget (BTDT ) Good luck!
  11. Takes about a FULL day, BTDT Oh, and lotsa elastoplast, as the plastic can cut ya when you least expect it to
  12. I know! I know! Distance is the killer, at least 3.5 hours away for me, and a Rangie I would not trust to get me there and back right atm Not got a second car atm, so looking to get something I can start prepping, but drive, while I have a month of MOT left on this one.... I think that's a sound plan... but you never know... I migth ring you up in weeks time begging I noticed you have it on Ebay now as well -good luck with it!
  13. You adjusted the rear drums? Sounds like the shoes are springing back too far.
  14. My Rangie is probably going to go to the great scrapyard in the sky in a months time, or to someone for a project So I am looking around at other Rangies (Sorry but I like them even if they are a bit big) and have seen a local 1994 Range with EAS on it, not sure if it is working properly atm, but even if it is, I will probably take it off and swap to the 2" lift set of shocks and springs I have on my current Rangie. I know I will probably need some sort of spring plate for the bottom and that the front shock is in a different place... but anyone BTDT? The only info I can find on the net is the full kits, which include the springs -which I don't need of course! Also, would it be easy/possible to relocate the front damper back inside the coils spring? Or is this not advisable!? I get the impression I might need to swap the front shockers to something different otherwise, as they are at an angle and would need to be a different rate, and possibly a different fitting... Anyway, enough hypothesising, a list of bits needed / tips from people that are in the know would be lovely :) Cheers, Bowie.
  15. Hmm had a whole 1/4 chassis for the lightweight from Paddocks, the holes for the tailgate hinges needed drilling out, aside from that, everything fitted really well!
  16. So the closure of the lanes, as with many legal situations, only affects the law-abiding
  17. That's a military registration :s
  18. Ah.... the pressure one works well, mine is ~10 years old and still fine...
  19. Was your nozzle the one that has a pump to pressurise the can? I have used this very successfully on a few cars, I warm the waxoyl on top of the Aga for an hour before hand -it is completely liquid and goes on very well. You can try diluting with whitespirit as well, that helps
  20. Recently this started to happen to mine..... I fiddled but nothing fixed it, put up with it for 3 weeks then the charge light started glowing... one screwed alternator I have heard that the back end of them can be cleaned up a bit somehow, which might help, but as I had a spare kicking around, I swapped them over and not had a problem since..... Hope you cvan clean yours, or it's the scrappy otherwise I guess.... Bowie.
