  1. Dave if you find a source drop me a line will you as i'm looking for a few spares even advertising on the awdc site has not yielded anything , what size are you after 235/85 or 7.50s would do me
  2. do you use the 'difflock' forum chap there called greenracer had a set he was selling for 20 quid qt ones i think ,he sent them to me but they got returned cos of a lazy couriour(long story) he's not to far from you from memory if i can find the details i'll pm you with them
  3. my uncle was the first culprit as he had a 88" series 1 diesel that was used as his main transport round the farm in meriden (im still looking for it)he used to bring me all over the place in it as a kid , then a madman i worked for after i left school who had a v8 lightweight with 9.00x16 tyres and an overdrive then a variety of land rovers provided by employers while i was gamekeeping including a series 2 swb truck cab that had a 2.6 6 pot fitted , rapidly learnt where not to drive and how to get out if you did as we usually only had one vehicle and the slaggin from farm workers when you get firmly stuck is awfull now it's a variety of green oval products more for pure fun than practicality but i still run a 300 disco as an everyday farm/tow bus/shopping trolly
  4. oh yes it is a standard box it came from a v8 defender ie NAS spec anyway as i measured it for you last week it's still the same lenth 277 mm
  5. it's off a disco r380 i just took it off the gearbox and what i should have said was its the same as the bellhousing from a r380 from a v8 defender ie a long stick box hrc2642 is what is cast into the casing on the slave cylinder housing
  6. ok i have a spare allright a part number on it is hrc2642 now just as a matter of interest its identical to an r380 bellhousing from a long stick box from a v8 ie same part number
  7. i'm nearly sure have a spare one here if you get no joy in the uk and can think of a cost efficient way of getting it you are welcome to it how much of a rush are you in
  8. what about 1 from a mpi r380 that is the only 4cyl excluding tdi i think was made
  9. after living here for a while now and seeing a properly run and operated two year test run by a national system i too agree with grommit the testing of vehicles should be removed entirely from garages i've bought two vehicles now one from northern ireland and one from the uk that had fairly long mots on them and were both not fit to be on the road not that i was too bothered as they were not bought for road use but i was horrified as to some of the things wrong with them, one a discovery when i let it down on an axle stand to support the chassis the stand went straight up into the chassis and that had 8 mnths mot still left on it the other a range rover with a similar ammount of test had badly rusted brake lines and more play in the bushes than i'd ever seen in fact i statred a thread asking how good lads thought the mot system was and i was suprised at the comments i agree totally though with having your towbar and attatchment points tested just think what happens if 3.5 tonnes of trailer and trialer comes off cos the hitch was knackered
  10. meant to tell you that yesterday B) http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/clutch-damper-...02l-p-1568.html
  11. approx 277 mm it's hard to measure it exactly without moving a load of stuff in my workshop it's almost the same lenth within a mm or so of a lt77 200tdi disco bellhousing though as they are sitting side by side
  12. cheers kev just how long wide as im bringing a box trailer home from the old country and there is a shiney chassis of mine sitting in a friends yard i want to retrieve if i could work out how heavy too as i don't want to run in with those delightfull VOSA guys at queensferry again
  13. any one have the dimensions of a bare 90 chassis to hand lenth width and weight ?
  14. i bet if you do you won't get him off the phone i'd guess he's an enthusiast and want to tell you all about it
  15. why don't you stick a note on the windscreen with your phone number on next time your passing the owner might be quite happy to have a chat about it with you
  16. have a root around for 'mocal 'stuff there is a remote filter with additional cooler that was going to use http://www.batinc.net/files/sp1t.pdf
  17. ok but they worked fine on a 4.6 setup in a defender in kuwait the 11 blade job has an entirely different viscous unit to its smaller brother i can take some pics if you like
  18. there are two spare 11 blade jobs with viscuos units sitting on my bench at the mo 1 is yours for the price of a few pints if you want one !
  19. the bottom ones are hard to do i just jacked up the car took off the rear wheels supported the chassis on axle stands and got underneath and knocked them off ,
  20. well i took them of the missus disco axle with a sharp cold chisel once you get the edge folding over it's easy why do you need to locate the spot welds
  21. check the white wire running to the stop solinoid on the injection pump it may be loose
  22. just so that i could say i had one once i picked up an all singing dancing 1999 4.6hse p38 auto , that failed it's test on basically just emissions everything appears to be working drives fine and all the gearbox functions appear to be working as is the air suspension i'm going to give it a full service and retest it to see what happens if it fails again what would be sensible to salvage to use in my offroad truck which at the moment is running a 3.5 and lt77 with rrc running gear
  23. can anyone shed some light re the 19j engine it seems it had two guises the first as we all know mr unreliable but later the block was strenthened and adaptions made to the lump to make it better and more reliable, it would seem sometime in 1988. does anyone have any idea as to the engine number at which it was changed this is to help another landrover owner who is thinking of using one
  24. id say its one for a vm rangie as the inj pump is on the other side to the other engines, just measured one in the yard approx 5ft 6in long
  25. i have one i bought to pop under a 90 chassis it's still in the shed but mine has vented discs and 4 pot ap calipers but by hell it's a heavy lump,
