  1. Thanks Ralph. Am I right in thinking the thread is 1/8 NPT?
  2. I'm using a VDO Vision coolant temp gauge in my V8. Is it imperative that I swap the LR coolant temp sensor for the matching VDO one? The reason I ask is that I thought standard defender gauges were made by VDO anyway?
  3. The one that was tested in Inigo's link above seemed to be very good quality indeed. Appeared to be made for the Russian market and had very high quality clips and the cable was very flexible down to low temperatures.
  4. Some good advice there. And great photography! 1 thing I will say about midges. They absolutely hate smoke. Whether it's from a BBQ, open fire, or whatever you happen to be smoking.... Just take care with BBQ's and fires. Make sure they are properly extinguished before you turn in/leave..
  5. Did someone leave it switched on with clips uncovered...?
  6. Thanks for that. I tend not to buy the magazines any more but that sounds like it might be worth a read..
  7. Lol very good Bowie.. Back to the planned revenge. I know who the culprit is, and they're not going to have a good day. You see we go clay pigeon shooting, and I load our 12-bore cartridges. 80% of someones ammo allocation are going to be blank so the drinks this evening will be on him...
  8. Thanks guys. That's good enough for me. Methinks someone's yanking my chain, and I think some revenge is in order....
  9. I found this in 1 of the boxes I have full of Defender parts. Now for the life of me I can't recall seeing it before. Anyway if anyone knows what it is that would be helpful. If not, then it doesn't belong in my boxes and someone's having a larf...
  10. Also looks like a quiet cul-de-sac (assuming that's where it was nicked from). I wonder how the scum bags knew it was there unless they followed you home.. Any dodgy neighbours?
  11. Is the smallest out there 30mm? I've done some searching and all I can find is 30 or 60mm...
  12. Not really. If you watch the video clip of it being tested on Flatdogs website, the FL battery is so flat it doesn't even click the solenoid.. Yet once the power pack is connected it starts easily..
  13. Not really. Unfortunately these scrotes know that the worst that will happen is the police will be called. And they probably have lookouts located nearby to warn them if the police are approaching. They will feel confident that there probably won't be any physical intervention as most people would be too scared to challenge a few guys wielding hammers etc.
  14. Have been looking to get 1 of these before Winter approaches and thought I'd start putting some feelers out for opinions.. http://www.flatdoguk.com/xs%2Dpowerpack%2Dmulti%2Dfunction%2Djump%2Dstarter%7E1534 A little concerned about the "Britpart" name associated with it. But then surely Britpart don't manufacture stuff like that themselves? Anyone had any experience, or have found a better one?
  15. May I ask who supplied the winch? I can't believe anyone who knows what they're talking about would supply a winch with 16mm2 cable..
  16. Exactly. How you use it can make or break it. A lot of people have no finesse.
  17. If it were me I'd be using this.. http://kojaycat.co.uk/epages/950000457.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950000457/Categories/Ocean_Flex_Battery_Cable/%2250mm%20tinned%20battery%20cable%22 Do not skimp on the cable..
  18. No. It will not. If you look at the links I posted you will find that good quality 16mm squared will only take a continuous 110A. Nowhere near enough for a winch..
  19. Yeah I'm driving it from the "W" on my alt..
  20. Thanks guys. Those links work fine. Looks like something else for the shopping list. Has anyone that has used one found their VDO tacho to be out by much?
  21. Interesting. Can't seem to open the instructions link though
  22. Not sure what piece of equipment I'd need for that. Whatever it is you can bet I don't have it.. I'm presuming some kind of strobe.
  23. Thanks Inigo. I will go with what the instructions say then. Especially as yours works.
