  1. I agree that getting 250hp from a 3.5 is going to take money but in all honesty it doesn't take much to get an injected 4.6+ above 250hp.. On a different note, regarding the tdv6, I thought that there was a few companies now fitted kits for these?
  2. Also, there are lots of decent RV8's out there's making between 250-300bhp. Unless you were going to use the supercharged jag engine, what's the point.. The only time I could see it being viable would be if the kit was dirt cheap. But it just wouldn't be. Far too much involved
  3. Yes it was the NAS models. John was right in the respect that the majority of them were autos but the versions that were manual used the R380.
  4. Ralph - loving the 'And Brake Stupid meaning for the ABS warning light!
  5. It's actually an interesting point. I'm sure lots of folk will come up with 101 reasons why it's perfectly legal but insurance companies will look for any get-out possible. It's the same as tyre puncture repairs. The manufacturers of tyre plugs will not guarantee them above the national legal limit. In other words, if you have any plugs/repairs on any of your tyres and you happen to have an accident while breaking the speed limit... It's not going to end well. I used to run my own motorcycle tyre business. Whenever I had guys coming in to repair punctures I would say yes no problem, but be aware should something happen while your going over 70 (which lets be honest, when a bike can do over 70 in 1st it's a fair bet) your insurance will wipe their hands..
  6. Welcome to the madhouse. Be careful about fixing that little oil leak. It usually causes a bigger one somewhere else..... It's when it starts leaking smoke that you need to worry!
  7. Maybe it depends on stiffness of sidewall etc? It would explain why the squarer (stiffer?) Maxxis recommend 10"?
  8. I guess if it works for you that's great. I can't speak from personal experience as mine isn't even finished yet.. I will try and look back for those threads. It was a while back mind you
  9. V8 and 200tdi engines = 603659. LT77 and R380 = FRC6145. I'd certainly be interested Nige.
  10. Edit: What are your plans regarding arches Ross?
  11. Thing is, it's not about how they look. A few folk over on D4x4 reported that when airing down for off-road use, 12.5" tyres had a habit of being torn off 8" rims. Whereas with the 10" rims there were no problems..
  12. If any of the 50th defenders were manual they would be R380. I seem to remember there was a limited number? A bit OT. Sorry.
  13. Probably a 10" rim Ross. I know some folk say you can use an 8" but I think that's really pushing it..
  14. I understand your argument but why make it easy for the scumbags? After all it's no hardship to hide your reg..Edit: if someone posted a pic of my vehicle along with reg and geographic details in a public forum for all and sundry to see, I'd be pi**ed..
  15. Really? So now, if there are any "undesirables" reading this thread, they are now aware of a nice TD5 that goes by the reg shown above in the South Worcs area. That's not great for the guy who owns that vehicle if he happens to be a regular law abiding LR owner. Unless I'm reading this all wrong of course....
  16. I agree. It was maybe just a fellow LR enthusiast taking a nosey. There's no point in being overly paranoid. You can only do what you can do. Fit as much security as you can and get on with it.
  17. Rest assured you have made the correct decision..
  18. A progressive spring with a light poundage weight is what you ideally need. I have +2" terrafirma light weight springs, and while I haven't driven the vehicle yet, it certainly seems nice and compliant when pushing down on the chassis.
  19. Another thing you can't ignore (whether you want to or not) is the fact that smiles per mile is often far better than miles per gallon.. At least that's my reasoning for a 4.6 v8
