  1. Thanks for the responses guys. Seems to be a general concensus towards videoing and reporting to bobbys. I will give that a try. Im not overly worried about repercussions as there is 360 degree cctv directly above my units door. Im more concerned about someone being killed by this a-hole! If it wasnt such a busy estate id be sorely tempted to drop a few gallons of old engine oil right where he turns in and buries the throttle. That would open his eyes!!
  2. As title this is non landy related so if mods want to delete thats ok. Just thought i would throw this one out there to see if anyone had an answer.. Firstly i want to ask, can you report dangerous driving to the police? If you can, what is the chance of anything actally being done about it? With that being said, i will explain..... I have a little motorcycle tyre fitting business. Only just started in last couple months. I have a nice little unit in a popular industrial estate. The estate is busy with lots of vans/trucks etc. Theres also quite a lot of kids around as the estate is a shortcut to a local primary school. One day last week i heard a car roaring outside coupled with the sound of skidding tyres. I never thought that much about it thinking it was just an idiot going to fast round the bend that my unit is positioned on. However 10 mins later it happened again. This time i looked outside to find a young guy broadsiding this old beat-up merc round the bend like a rally driver. I still let it pass hoping he would bury it into the front of a snow-plough or the like. This has been going on now for the past several days. Then today i looked out to see him losing it (as was bound to happen eventually) just missing my car by about 2 feet. I ran out but he sped off. Now im starting to get pi**ed off! As luck would have it found his car parked outside the estate cafe. I tried to explain to the guy that one day hes either going to knock down a young school kid or (hopefully) bury it into the front of an artic. If im totally honest i was hoping he would give me a mouthful so i had an excuse to smack him in the gob but he said nothing, picked up his stuff and sped off. Later on i spoke to the guy in the unit next to me, and found out that he had just missed a woman that was crossing the road. What apart from physical violence can i do about this? Probably nothing but im getting so fed up with this guy.
  3. If you have all the new bits you need to hand, you should do it in a day easy.
  4. Good enough for me si. I will keep a keen eye out for the drawings.
  5. So according to ebay its ok to sell stuff thats nicked but as soon as health & safety is involved its pulled!
  6. Not really. Ive got a totally different setup. Radiator is different. Thermostat layout is different etc
  7. Do you mean this one? I was thinking this needed to be joined to the bottom radiator hose?
  8. I'll be honest. Theres still some stuff im not sure about uncle nige... I forgot to mention that there is also 2 male outlets on the rear of waterpump. 1 seems blocked but 1 looks like it had a hose connected..
  9. OK. Let me see if ive got this right. Forgive me being f f fick… Heater Matrix:1 hose goes to the front of the manifold (once ive got rid of blanking bolt and inserted correct male outlet) but does it matter which hose? Other hose goes to the bottom rad hose but how do I join into the bottom rad hose? Radiator: Top hose is standard RR efi type. Goes to inlet manifold therm housing. Bottom hose is also efi type. Goes to waterpump but also needs to join onto 1 heater matrix hose and pipe on lhs of inlet manifold?? 2 small-bore pipes. 1 goes to pipe on rhs of inlet manifold. Other small-bore pipe goes to???? Also does it matter what small-bore pipe on rad goes where? Trumpet Base: Ive got 1 pipe on one side and 2 on the other side. 1 to be used as vacuum hose (does it matter which one?). 1 for MAP. Other blanked off? Have I missed anything else?
  10. But doesnt bottom rad hose need to go to waterpump? Does it matter which one of the twin small rad pipes i connect to?
  11. Thanks for the link but that diagram is quite a bit different from mine. Different radiator, no oil-cooler etc etc
  12. PIC-TASTIC!!! Sorry for the huuuge pics. I resized them but the changes didnt seem to stick...
  13. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.
  14. Im not worried about the footwells etc as this will be taken care of by a WOR soundproofing kit. I was meaning the inside of the bulkhead behind the dash. The td5 bulkheads have a soundproofing pad fitted there. I was wondering what thickness of closed cell foam i could get away with fitting there before it starts to foul things?
  15. Ive been looking for the sound insulation panel that fits across the entire (interior) width of the td5 bulkhead. However from what i can find on tinternet its hideously expensive...nearly £200!!! For what looks like plain old self-adhesive closed cell foam! So. Ive decided to just get £15 worth of foam from the bay. However my question is this. What would be the max thickness i could fit here without it intruding/making something awkward to fit in this area?
  16. Nige i feel your pain. When i was a kid i jumped off a sand dune at the local beach. It was about a 10 foot drop onto the sand below......and a bit of wood buried shallow in the sand! 4 inch rusty number right through foot. Your tale brings back v painful memories!
  17. Cheers Nige. Bloody hell! No wonder im at a loss re what hoses i need. I had no idea there were so many different inlet manifolds! Heres me thinking it was just either a carb or efi type lol.. I will try and post some pics up in next day or two as my phone fell out my pocket into a bucket of kerosene.......... Yes im having one of those days....
  18. Nige - Your anything but thick! Its me thats a bit thick. But then its not like i started with a complete efi v8 to strip down, im starting from scratch. I'll try and explain better. Basically im plumbing in all water hoses ie radiator and heater. However checking through the various online parts diagrams its apparent that the carb v8 hoses are different from the efi v8 hoses. Now as you know im in the (slow) process of squirting my v8 so i have the efi inlet manifold, however when you look at the parts diagrams for the efi radiator setup there is some weird looking hoses which im sure i dont need as i have a basic v8 radiator. The carb v8 setup shows upper rad hose going to inlet manifold and lower rad hose going to waterpump. Apart from that im at a loss exactly what hoses i need. Zardos - I guess your right, i dont necessarily need the preshaped hoses. I was just trying to keep everything neat. Probably being overly fussy.
  19. I know this shouldnt necessarily be in this section but it seemed appropriate. Mods feel free to move it if you want to... Im needing someone who has 'squirted a defender to tell me what all the radiator and heater hoses are that they used. I have looked all over net to find out what ones i need but there are sooooo many different types available im at a loss really. I noticed that one of the bottom rad hoses had 4 connections. What are they all!? I have some standard carb'd-engine heater hoses but obviously they are totally wrong as the inlet manifold is completely different to the efi one. If it makes any difference at all, i have a standard v8 rad and no air-con. Any help would be really appreciated as it will save me spending loads of money on incorrect hoses.
  20. Just wondering if anyone could tell me part numbers for all the coolant hoses i'll need for the V8 110. Parts catalogue only shows hoses for carb model. I was thinking they might be the same as efi disco 1 but knowing my luck they would be different. They are too expensive to buy the wrong ones! Thanks Phil
  21. Yea ive seen that before and its a nice idea. However I dont have lathe, bench grinder etc at my disposal. Seemed to be quite a bit of work that. I was wondering what would be the best bolt in option
  22. Just wondering if someone could recommend what would be the best alternator i could fit to my v8 non-serp?
