  1. Errrrr has anyone here had the rear tub off a 110?
  2. One of the (many) jobs on my to-do list is refurbing the rear tub on my hard-top 110. Ive got the tub off the truck sitting on a large workshop table. Whats the best way to man-handle it to get it upside down so i can work on the underside without bending something out of shape? Without looking too hard i need to replace the long side cappings that go between the sides and the tub. However the one area that concerns me most is where the tub bolts onto the chassis behind the seatbox. It seems badly corroded there. Is there any repair panel available for this area?
  3. Im building (slowly) a V8 110 from the chassis up. My chassis is a galved td5 and this came already fitted with the standard plastic td5 fuel tank mounted at the rear (oooer). Given that im using a thirsty 4.6 i want to go with twin tanks and mount one at the side as well. What is involved in doing this job properly in regards mounting, plumbing and wiring so that i have an accurate fuel level gauge?
  4. Ive just bought a spanking new bulkhead for my 110. Now i dont have the pennies right now to galv it so was wondering what you guys thought would be the best way to prepare it for fitting. How to paint it / what paint to use etc etc. Waxoyl inside? Any thoughts appreciated
  5. Apologies for opening up an old post, but where exactly do the bulkhead packing strips (shown in the lrseries link above) go?? When i dismantled my 110 for a full rebuild i didnt notice removing any packing strips that look like this. Though considering im building onto a new galv chassis i suppose that doesnt mean that i wont need them when rebuilding.
  6. Ive noticed that my V8 chassis mounts have 3 holes in them. The chassis itself also has 3 holes in. Does this mean i can bolt these mounts onto the chassis or will they need welding too? Or do these holes in the chassis have nothing to do with the mounts?

  8. when dealing with parts (ie engine mountings etc) and they are described as LH or RH. What is passenger side and what is drivers side.. is it left hand looking from front or left hand from drivers seat. coz they are different! why cant they just say nearside or offside!!!!

When using a 4.6 crank in a 3.9 block and 3.9 non-serp ancilleries, i understand that i need some kind of spacer on the crank snout in order to fit my pulley as the crank is 20mm or so longer that the 3.9 crank. Ive looke don net and cant find anyone that appears to stock it. Anyone know where i can get this spacer?
  10. What is the best way to fit a new nearside repair panel? Is there a guide i can follow where someone has done it before and posted the results? I have my bulkhead off the vehicle and everything is stripped off it.
  11. Since my 110 is in the beginnings of a ground-up rebuild, ive been toying with the idea of fitting the later style dash. Has anyone done this? What is involved?

  13. Weird one happened today. I was lifting my gearbox / transferbox using a borrowed engine hoist (my dad is currently hogging my new one), i must have lifted it at least 3 feet off the deck in order to clear the chassis when the jib of the hoist collapsed! The gearbox/transferbox free-fell to the deck with a sickening crash. Ive never seen or heard of a hoist doing this before. The whole unit fell into the concrete floor transfer-brake first. Is it possible for me to have seriously damaged something? None of the casings have split but i was concerned about maybe the shaft that the brake is connected to could have bent. Is that possible?
  14. Just looking for general opinion on what transfer box would be best for my needs. My 110 (when ive finished it) will be running a 4.6 RV8 along with an R380 and will be used probably 60/40 on-road, off-road. I have a BW and an LT230 sitting in the workshop, both are unknown quantities so probably wise to rebuild whichever one i choose to go with. Opinions?

  17. Does anyone have a copy of the parts catalogue for the 110 TD5 they could ping me? The catalogue i have only goes up to 300TDi...

  19. Where do you guys think the cheapest place would be to get gearbox mounting brackets/rubbers from? I have a bare TD5 chassis and bare R380/LT230 - no mounting brackets/rubbers whatsoever..
