Yeh it's a smile ! :-) It's an ex military yes. I said the same to my mate about an army job. I'll never know I guess. The chap I bought it from only owned it a month as he was buying a recovery truck to start a business. The chap before him though off roaded it a bit, so we don't know if it's his handy work or someone else's.
Managed to free up tomorrow afternoon so I'm heading over then to finish off the job....... Fingers crossed or you'll all see the second installment of the 110 Ex military....
Now who can say what the heck this is that's on the shaft??
I'll post a few pics later showing the final stages of it all..... I actually jumped about with joy :-)
Now, this little rusty flake doesn't mean a lot, but, it means the world to me because previously it was right against the timing belt casing..... Yes it could be that it's moving due to the vibration but to me I can see a crack of space between the damper and the rubber seal on the timing belt casing !!
So then we thought of this......
After offering it up we realised the bolts weren't going to be long enough as I could only get my hands on M8 X 70mm HT.
So, we got the angry grinder and took off the nose on the damper to allow it closer to the stuck damper.
Once again guys, you have no idea how much all these comments and advice is appreciated..... Thank you !
Ok, we've tried what we could with what we've got.....
Tomorrow is another day ......
Put the champagne back in the fridge, it's still not fecking budging...... I do not know what the hell is keeping this thing on that shaft....
Photon torpedos at the ready captain......
Feeling better for sure !
Right wee cuppa then more on the damper..... This is the real challenge. Mates got a better bolt puller set. Still working so will get that on it when he arrives. (Only arrived today)
I've heated the damper up with blow torch and puller on. Then cooled with water as suggested. Repeated that a few times. I've put plus gas back on the now with puller.....
Coming to you LIVE from Renfrewshire Scotland....
Arrived 10 mins ago, puller still grasping the pulleys. Fresh spray of plus gas..... Puller taken off, rubber hammer taping it back in, pullers back on, oh boy, it's moving !!
Repeat repeat repeat..... Let's see if we can get they pulleys off !!
Ok, no time today so Saturday we'll have more time from the afternoon onwards.....
Question.. With the chip in the front pulley, will it damage the belts when they "eventually" go back on?
We've now got a 10T hydraulic puller..... It's massive !! It didn't take them off (all together) it made funny creaking noises like a ship listing......
If all else fails, there's only two options..... Ejparrott can post me that majestical puller he's borrowed,it will be returned first class.
Or he angry grinder, I take it the oxy/acet. Is for cutting the blooming thing? That's something I won't be able to grab a hold of ha !
Right went over to the mates, plus gas is on. Tried to take the pulley off and chipped the front so located the puller to the rear of the pulley, it moved !! But it's still stuck on....
No time until the weekend lads, only putting the plus gas on just now and hopefully it'll soak in and help by the weekend.
Yes very frustrating but when the gloom takes over, as said previously, just walk away, refresh and start again.....
We will get this bugger off !! (Wont we?)
