  1. Vulcan bomber, have you got the four bolt puller? Ejparrott we can arm wrestle for it? :-)
  2. Very interesting, I've got a sedimenter on mine. Another thing to look at and replace. Question though gazzar, when you say Jeyes fluid, just add to tank. Do you mean pour direct into diesel tank on normal running day to day?
  3. I hope you're right lol.... New puller set (hydraulic) ordered, plus gas going on today, pulleys hopefully one by one...... Until the next episode !!
  4. Right guys thanks...... I've not got time until the weekend again and the mate is also back to work. So it gives me time to grab proper plus gas and get some on it and hopefully let it do its magic.
  5. There's the damper, the water pump pulley and the power steering pulley. We've been trying to pull the lot off with puller hooks on the back of the damper or bolts inserted through the pulleys into the damper..... That's why I was wondering if one by one is the way forward. But we're worried about damaging the pulleys trying......
  6. Update.... The mate was fabricating a makeshift puller then went to weld it and the welder isn't working today (must be a Monday thing) Does anyone know of where best to source a replacement damper and twin pulley preferably spares? as the funds are low I can't afford brand new at the minute. We're a tad worried to try separate them one by one and damage them. (If they'll ever actually come off)
  7. No, we had to try get a decent puller set yesterday. That didn't do but will come in handy for future jobs I'm sure. We were thinking of making up our own hydraulic puller with the use of a bottle Jack and long M8 threads into the four tapped holes into the damper. I've no time today but the mate is off, he's going to try today get the pulleys off one by one.
  8. Thanks Steve, So heat as hot as possible, then cool, then put puller on ? Many thanks for every single comment so far..... I am taking it all in. Slumberland calls for now
  9. Vulcan, I'm in Scotland,..... We were thing to hook up some sort of hydraulic puller using a bottle jack and threaded M8 lengths.
  10. Paddy it's just frustration, not came across this ever ! Les, would you go for all pulleys and damper together or separate pulleys one by one?
  11. Took me a minute but managed to update my settings to show. To be fair, my mate has done this 4 times already and knows a fair bit, hence why it's sitting in his driveway and not mine. If anyone is close by and has more experience feel free to contact me. For now it's back to teaching learners the rest of the week.
  12. It's like cyclops staring out at me......
  13. Right backs aching, hands sore, arms jelly..... Whining over. It must be on there solid with what Les and others are saying. I het it up a fair bit with the blow torch. Had the pulley on it. Then other ideas so took it off and on most of the day. Ok here's some thoughts/questions... 1). Will that much heat damage the crank shaft or engine in any way? 2). Would you separate the pulleys from the damper in the same way one at a time and will they get damaged? 3). Give me a minute and I'll think of somit
  14. Just back from the Ironmongers..... Crank wouldn't stop turning even though in gear. Crank holder now in place with new bolts. Here goes ......
  15. So use the longer bolts in those four holes? I'll be using our other pulley then with that set up.....
  16. So if we put the longer bolts in the four holes, then attach the puller set to these bolts, it should in theory still work?
  17. The bolts aren't in they're out. Just not shown in the pics. So, in theory can we use four longer bolts through the vee pulley to the damper on the puller set?? If they're just holding them altogether there wouldn't be much point in using the four holes??
  18. Ok think we're Gona try the heat method, thinking of putting a wet rag round the back of the dumbbell at the shaft to maybe help protect it it a little whilst heat is applied to the Pulley. Here's a few pics from yesterday...... As you can see, the coolant wasn't looking great (if there was any coolant at all !! Here's the culprit... The bolt we got from another 2.5 round the back of the shed from a transplant a few years ago on the mates 90. He's got the 200 TDI in it now (lucky sod) This is the set up as we left it.... So I'll let you know how it goes today !
  19. Did you see what the problem was? Rusted on?
  20. Back home with cold one in hand and thinking...... If I can get my hands on a heavy duty puller set (large set) it might just be enough, don't know how I can smack it in the opposite direction though? Is Penol readily available in motor factor stores? I don't think i'll risk the brake fluid as it's very corrosive right? It's got my puller set on it just now as tight as we dare, it's got a mixture of WD and Acetone and ATF. (Don't ask) so I'm hoping the overnight soak and energy might work. Thanks guys for the advice so far, greatly appreciated as usual.
  21. Yep pulling on centre hub. No sign of any botch job elsewhere. Hmmmm weird. Might just need s bigger pulley set. It's stuck on for sure
