Ok, no time today so Saturday we'll have more time from the afternoon onwards.....
Question.. With the chip in the front pulley, will it damage the belts when they "eventually" go back on?
We've now got a 10T hydraulic puller..... It's massive !! It didn't take them off (all together) it made funny creaking noises like a ship listing......
If all else fails, there's only two options..... Ejparrott can post me that majestical puller he's borrowed,it will be returned first class.
Or he angry grinder, I take it the oxy/acet. Is for cutting the blooming thing? That's something I won't be able to grab a hold of ha !
Right went over to the mates, plus gas is on. Tried to take the pulley off and chipped the front so located the puller to the rear of the pulley, it moved !! But it's still stuck on....
No time until the weekend lads, only putting the plus gas on just now and hopefully it'll soak in and help by the weekend.
Yes very frustrating but when the gloom takes over, as said previously, just walk away, refresh and start again.....
We will get this bugger off !! (Wont we?)
Very interesting, I've got a sedimenter on mine. Another thing to look at and replace.
Question though gazzar, when you say Jeyes fluid, just add to tank. Do you mean pour direct into diesel tank on normal running day to day?
Right guys thanks...... I've not got time until the weekend again and the mate is also back to work.
So it gives me time to grab proper plus gas and get some on it and hopefully let it do its magic.
There's the damper, the water pump pulley and the power steering pulley. We've been trying to pull the lot off with puller hooks on the back of the damper or bolts inserted through the pulleys into the damper.....
That's why I was wondering if one by one is the way forward. But we're worried about damaging the pulleys trying......
Update....
The mate was fabricating a makeshift puller then went to weld it and the welder isn't working today (must be a Monday thing)
Does anyone know of where best to source a replacement damper and twin pulley preferably spares? as the funds are low I can't afford brand new at the minute.
We're a tad worried to try separate them one by one and damage them. (If they'll ever actually come off)
No, we had to try get a decent puller set yesterday. That didn't do but will come in handy for future jobs I'm sure.
We were thinking of making up our own hydraulic puller with the use of a bottle Jack and long M8 threads into the four tapped holes into the damper.
I've no time today but the mate is off, he's going to try today get the pulleys off one by one.
Thanks Steve,
So heat as hot as possible, then cool, then put puller on ?
Many thanks for every single comment so far..... I am taking it all in.
Slumberland calls for now
Took me a minute but managed to update my settings to show.
To be fair, my mate has done this 4 times already and knows a fair bit, hence why it's sitting in his driveway and not mine.
If anyone is close by and has more experience feel free to contact me.
For now it's back to teaching learners the rest of the week.
Right backs aching, hands sore, arms jelly..... Whining over.
It must be on there solid with what Les and others are saying. I het it up a fair bit with the blow torch. Had the pulley on it. Then other ideas so took it off and on most of the day.
Ok here's some thoughts/questions...
1). Will that much heat damage the crank shaft or engine in any way?
2). Would you separate the pulleys from the damper in the same way one at a time and will they get damaged?
3). Give me a minute and I'll think of somit
