  1. Well the clicking has returned!!!! would te fact that the solenoid is mounted on it's side make a difference?? For the life of me I can't figure out what the hell is wrong !!
  2. I've got some heavy stuff on mine so it doesn't get the best MPG mind. Would be better on road tyres etc
  3. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=12331 although this talk through states new hydraulic pipe be made up. When I moved mine I undone the brackets securing the cooler, pushed the pipes back (towards engine) and moved the brackets up and redrilled holes for them.
  4. About normal I would say. My mate also has a 3.9 disco and that also worked out at about 10mpg
  5. If it's clicking away whilst it happens it sounds like the ABS working. Brake fluid levels ok? If your pedal is very soft it might be air in the system. ?
  6. Any development on your tapping noise? Interested in this as mine has been making a tapping noise for about a year now. It's fine when running around at 30 MPH but when I go on motorways etc to 50MPH then it ticks quite loudly. Been wondering if it's tappets or not. I use 20W50 mineral oil but have contemplated using racing oil by Lucas to try protect it more. It's doing my nut in : D
  7. Looking good. I'd be very scared to bolt the coil packs on the plenum though well done
  8. Hi guys. Totally pi**ed off now been out and got the negative connection cleaned etc and it's still rattling away when it's armed. I ran a new negative direct to the battery to solenoid and it still rattling when armed. What else can it be? Wires to winch? They're not the best but worked fine when first put together. Help
  9. After a night of laying there thinking about the earth. I'm thinking where it is justnow might be causing the problem. Is there a better place I could locate the earth?
  10. The bottom terminal on the winch runs direclty to the negative on the battery. I think the earth for solenoid is a thin red wire that was also connected to this terminal. This is the way the wiring was attatched when I got the winch. Hope I've expained that right
  11. Starter battery. Battery is good and not that old. Only connection I haven't really got into good and proper is the negative at the bottom as it's only got about 10mm of gap to get into. Looks like it's steering guard off time then to clean it up and hopefully that'll do it. Thanks
  12. Mines is brown, not sure if they did black. I've yet to see one
  13. Ok I'm back new solenoid arrived this morning. 4.30 I got it fitted. Turned the isolator switch to arm the winch, then the solenoid started clicking!!! It's still not winching. t it's a very solid click this time over and over. Thoughts? Earth/negative terminals bad contact?? Depression
  14. Would you be better sourcing a S/H prop from a vehicle? Then you'll know which UJ your after.
  15. http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DISCOVERY_1/Propshafts/Rear_Propshaft_UJ_%28Hardy_Spicer%29.html try searching. These are for a disco 1/RRC
  16. As always making sure I dont c*ck it up will get it ordered and report back with hopefully good news. Cheers
  17. This is the best deal i can find using the sites recommended. http://www.devon4x4.com/products_a/p7c83/0/albright-hd-solenoid.html
  18. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270414150468 Would this be a good deal guys or is there somewhere else that would do better? I've used them before so i know they are good and trustworthy. I've got a forest drive on the 1st of May so want to sort it before then
  19. It's only been on for about a month. The solenoid is second hand mind you. went out at lunch time there and tried the meter on it. No voltage seems to be present at any of the terminals when it's activated. Terminals are clean and coated in petrolium jelly to help protect. Will search for a new solenoid pack and hope that sorts it and run it at least once a week
  20. Here's the view of mine possible it would be better on the other side where there might be more room ? or could get rid of the air con and drier?
  21. Header tank = expansion tank ? If so the space I've got is maybe a bit limited with the abs pump.
  22. Thanks Roger I'm thinking passenger side bolted under the dash on the RRC. No glove box there and easy to get to if needed. Would need to think more on where he EDIS would be mounted as the LPG takes up some space.
