  1. Having went a run to get bolts etc to put my winch bumper on I discovered when I parked up there was oil leaking from one side of my oil cooler just before it oies into the connector at the end on the right hand side!! Can't see exactly the spot where it's coming out of but can anyone help in a fix? Would it need a new cooler or there somit I could do to sort it? Will add a pic asap cheers guys. In the garage just now with cuppa in hand.
  2. Haha well done on fixing it! My 92 is........ Pull towards to Wash/wipe(holding it towards you to wash) to switch on.........push away(click)......... to turn off, push away again(click). Still haven't figured out how to get it to make me a cuppa yet! :-)
  3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Def-RRC-Disco-expansion-tank-cap-NTC7161_W0QQitemZ220484260674QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3355e2d342
  4. Yep, the seal wasn't holding the water in, instead it was escaping causing me to think and get tests done etc.......... Blooming £6 fix along with new expansion tank kindly supplied by a fellow offroader and no more water loss after getting an air lock out!!
  5. Are you positive it's the head gasket? I was losing water in mine when i first got it and this was the suspected cause of loss of water and over heating etc. Turned out to be the expansion cap.(serviceable item) wasn't allowing the pressure to build so the water was escaping, this along with a hair line crack in the expansion tank was the culprit!! Wouldn't drive it if it not right, ye'll just make it worse.
  6. You prob already know so forgive the reply, but make sure it's bone dry before and after for at least 24 hours to get the best results.
  7. Cheers again guys for the info and guides, job done and all is working well now. :)
  8. Do you know what size spanner it takes or would this help? I could go outside and find out what spanner size is required??
  9. Now that is what I was going to do and wasn't very sure if it would make any difference, but by the time I'd finished the rest of the job I couldn't feel my feet!! Will give it a swap over and see if that'll sort it cheers
  10. Went out today to give it a go...... Earth connection was loose altogether !! Took the whole unit off and cleaned it all up nicely. Job done and no more disco lights Took the other side off to do the same job. The bulb holder for the stop/tail light was not in the best of condition. Managed to clean it up after managing to get the broken bulb out from the holder. New bulb in.......... All put back in but now it seems the stop/tail bulb is getting mixed up. When I put the lights on the stop light comes on??? When I press the brakes the tail light illuminates?? It only does this on the offside where the dodgy holder is. Apart from that, every thing else is back to normal:) fingers are numb now.......... -5 outside:(
  11. Many thanks for the reply....... And I really appreciate the full talk through........ Really do. Didn't have time to check the connections so will try do it over the weekend Cheers
  12. Job for the morro then Cheers chaps, will let u know the outcome
  13. Aye but are we talking earths like on a plug in the house or the straps to the engine block............. Cheers. (just a bit unsure where the earths are )
  14. Are we talking the earth straps under the bonnet? I've got 3. One on the bonnet, one to the nearside wing and one on the starter. Clean up ? Or the earth actually on the lens etc? Cheers
  15. just discovered that the rear lights on the classic is doing a bit of disco dancing. I've got a tail light out on the offside but the mrs noticed yday when I indicated left if done it but only on the left side and also when the brake lights came on! So the question is....... How do I sort it? Is it a relay? Cheers
  16. There's 2 Suppressors on the Alt, one is connected into the Alt itself and the other is the one in question about the Spade Connection cominf off of the Tach wire.
  17. So it doesn't get connected to anything?
  18. On the Tach wire (not on the Alt) there's another feed from it with a spade connector on it. would this connect to the suppressor?
  19. I'll have to go out tomorrow and try it so i don't wanna blow myself up Anyone?
  20. Recently got a new (ish ) Alternator from a freindly forum member but it turns out to be slightly different to the one that was originally on my 92 RRC 3.9 EFI The original one was i believe the A133 (??) and the one from the forum member is A127. Would i be able to connect existing wires from my loom to this Alt? From memory from the weekend, i've got 4 wires to connect to the Alt. Main live wire to Solenoid (1),Small brown(2) Spade terminal(3) which has a feed from same wire?(4) I reckon i know where the Wire to solenoid goes, and the small brown, and i take it the "W" on the rear of the Alt is for the Rev/tach? I know which wire is for the Rev/Tach but there is another spade terminal coming off of that too, so.............Would this connect into a suppressor? I think that would still leave me with a dangly bit on the Different Alt. Any help would be appreciated Cheers
  21. I've used these guys on ebay and always found them to be good. Always get the genuine parts though. If you haven't any luck with them for a coil, try Paddockspares. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/JGS-4x4-Land-Rover-Parts http://www.paddockspares.com/
  22. I think it's the paddocks one. Just text him there to find out but i reckon it is. It defo doesn't go straight on. Cheers for the replies so far guys
  23. Here's the pics as they seem to have come out huge using the upload facility
  24. Again i'm posting on behalf of my mate who has a 90. He's fitting a guard to it and wanted to confirm that he needs to remove the Sill brackets to enable him to fit the guard bracket in order to fit the guard itself. (hope that makes sense) We had a look tonight and it does look like the only way that the bracket for the guard will go. Can you guys confirm? Cheers
  25. No expert by far, but when i first got my RRC i had rough running too./ Turned out to be a combination of things. Mostly poor patrs. Have the Dizzy cap and rotor arm been replaced with genuine ones? Leads? Timing? Coil? You say you have changed the CTS (temp sensor) that was also a factor in the poor running of mine.
