  1. Thanks Steve Hmmmm here's hoping. I will re-check the oil levels and maybe give the sealant a go and hope and prey it's as you suggest. Cheers
  2. Ok got a little more time to explain a bit more about the noise/problem. After the car was sitting for a week or more unstarted, when firing it up there would be a ticking noise present in relation to the revs. Ticking gets faster as the engine revs more. After letting it idle for a minute, the ticking would go away. Now and again when driving the ticking would be present but louder as the revs where higher. After a short drive or pulling over, the ticking would go away agian. Done an oil change with CLASSIC motor oil, 20w/50 (duckhams me thinks as it was green) as stated in the book of lies. Ticking and engine sounded good, but last night the ticking returned and lingered longer than ever before. I haven't been out today due to time.
  3. Hello all, got a query for you all. As our MAC4x4 rally is coming up at the start of March, i'm a little concerned about the RRC giving off a tapping/ticking noise now and again when she's driving. I did an oil change 2 weeks ago and that seemed to cure it but it returned last night and was a little louder than usual. Can you tell me how dangerous it is or is there a way to ease it for my rally as i don't have that much time to do any big jobs. I have heard of tappet sealant, would this be worth a try? Blooming Landies!!!
  4. P.S. You'll need to get seperate wheel locking nuts if ye think they are in danger of being blagged !!
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Steel-27m...A1%7C240%3A1318 Bargain. I've delt with foundry too and have had no bother.
  6. You'll need to get the proper wheel nuts as the alloy ones dont fully sit home. Try ebay, you'll get a set for about £15-£20 or some kind forum member will sell ye an old set i'm sure.
  7. Floor in the boot. Always a place that goes. Get those carpets up everywhere if u can
  8. Ignition Amp is on the side of your distributor (dizzy) These can fail due to heat penetration so best bet would be to fit a new one. Not that expensive, but if your really a doctor then that shouldn't matter to you Make sure if your replacing the Rotor arm, that you do so with GENUINE parts ONLY !!! The pattern ones are no good and will cause you more headaches my friend. DC
  9. Liking the Sig DEANO Yep mines done this but braking was fine. (think it still might do it actually)
  10. when you say clicking, can you expalin exactly what you mean? on my 92 RRC with ABS, it has just had its disks and pads replaced within the last month. It used to have very slight resistance when the brake pedal was pressed for the first time whilst braking but never effected the performance. Maybe just a trade mark of RRC's ??
  11. Having trouble accessing the pages. When i click on the download, the target is not found.
  12. Cheers guys, i'll have a looky through and see if i can get what i'm after. Always good to have them. Thanks again
  13. Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in, but i'm looking for any web pages that give downloadable manuals for doing jobs on the RRC etc.............i did use a site previously but it seems to be have taken offline. Do you lot know of any other pages? Cheers
  14. Sorry for being a bit thick here, but "under the wiper panel"? Mines took a wee while to blow the other day but seems fine now so if it's starting to go i'd wanna keep on top of it.
  15. Mines takes about £30 to fill, around 60-65 litres of gas. get about 150 -160 miles on that so it looks pretty normal unless alot of us had tweaking issues?
  16. Good luck on your search Mick, I was lucky enough to have an offroading mate from newcastle who bought a RRC for spares, he then discovered it had a stainless steel sports system on it but didn't need it, so i snapped it up for a nice lil sum. Keep searching the auction sites and you might be lucky. Still took me a weekend to fit it mind you
  17. Looks like it, Question is though, why is it so low? failed top ups? Who did the brakes? they should have checked levels before letting it on the road......................is there a leak? Go have a good look at your pipes and calipers
  18. Is it back and front that have stopped working? or just one caliper? Could be your pistons in the caliper? Check fluid levels are at the MAX marker on the reservoir, Check for leaks of fluid at your calipers, if they have just been changed, might they require bleeding??
  19. No probs at all. The bunch are really friendly and will make you feel right at home. If your on the site and it says full, PM either Bill or Col. They run the outings and mention me DC, they will do their upmost to fit you in matey, now go have fun
  20. Hello Sparg, Get yourself over to www.bofa4x4.co.uk and look up either grizzly or doodlebug. They are from around your area and can offer you a fun filled weekend on private land at a reasonable cost where you'll be enjoying good company and lots of fun. Your 14 year old can gather skill and experience at a good age. Better to show them the dangers and learn earlier so by the time they come up for test they will have more experience than most which can only be a good thing. All the best. DC
  21. Hi Ben matey, I done the filter on my 92 RRC, the manual also told me to depressurise the system, all i done was start the engine, let it idle and then pull the fuel pump fuse out, Then changed the filter with no probs. Hope that helps DC
  22. I'll wait til i get a free day then. Cheers
  23. Yes mine is glass. It was working fine on our last forest drive so i dont know if there's maybe some gunk etc in any of the tracks. I took off the side inner panels and can see that one side is sliding and working fine but the other is totally jammed. I dont know if i've made it better or worse by pushing the sunroof up from the inside and helped it free off. Known me i've probably broke somit now lol. Tricky to get in at but when i have more time i'll give it a go. Cheers. P.S. by the "panel" do you mean the actual sliding part of the sunroof i.e. the glass part in my case?
  24. Any luck with your problem David? I have a sunroof which is playing up at the moment. One side seems to be working fine but the other doesn't seem to be moving. I kinda "helped it open" with a push upwardly, this freed is off but one side seems to be on strike. There's no sliding action at all from it.
