  1. Welcome to the fórum! Some time ago I also dreamed about a 6x6. Unfortunately local MoT regulations make nearly imposible to make a road legal 6x6 in Spain. In my case I hope to be able to use a powered trailer for making a 6x6 vehicle. Have a look at http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=81152&hl= Why a 6x6 and why a LR? Aussie Perenties have showed that, in a big and heavy 6x6 application, LR components work far beyond their safety limits. My choice will be a small HGV + trailer. Unimogs are very goog off road and have been desingned for the weight you want to carry. ExMoD vehicles could be purchased cheaply, with just Euro6 engine + 5th Wheel needing MoT approval This could be another option.   2. Well, it seems that life is smiling me again. After more than one year of unemployment, this week I have started working again, and just today a good old friend has phoned me to say that he is going to sell his Discovery. Destiny and karma are trying to say something to me! The Discovery is a low mileage 200Tdi, white, as I wanted, and with snorkel, suspensión, winch, ARB and tons of spares. All mods have been MoT approved, so headache free. Problem is that it´s a 3 door vehicle, and I will need a 5 door one. It will be nearly impossible to find a 5 door one from a known owner and in this condition. Since my brother has a 5 door half rotten Discovery, will I be able to create a a 5 door body using the 3 door bodyshell as a base with B and C posts, doors, and aluminium skin from the 5 door body? Has this been done before. A full body swap is not posible because the 5 door body is beyond repair.

  4. Thanks to all of you. First project will be a donnor Discovery, because the one that my brother gave me is beyond repair. 6x6 is not easy with local MoT regulations, but maybe some kind of underbody protection in the shape of tracks or rollers. I will also like to buy a small lathe and build the mitsu-rover box.
  5. Oh yes, I HAVE A JOB! . It´s not a great job, I will be working as a freelance for a marketing company, but I hope to recover in the next months the bank savings that have been disapearing during more than one year of unemployment. Then I will be able of making real some of the vapour builds I have been sketching in the past.
  6. I have found the scooter (unfortunatelly battery charger is missing) but have been too busy welding a pair of ramps and servicing the Fiat. Next time I will dismantle it to see what it has. Motor looks like the eBay one above.
  7. Have found this Brand new motor (eBay) Prepared for 6mm chain, 36V 500W 2500rpm. Nearly 50 Eur. plus p&p. I have remembered that my sister in law had a (quite fast) small electric scooter some years ago. It must be somewhere in the barn. Will try to locate it next weekend.

  9. Chinesse drill + 500kg = disaster! According to the above I will need at least 500W for using in flat surfaces.
  10. I have seen both go karts and caravan trolleys using cordless drillers, but my "toy" will be extremly heavy compared to those. Driver alone (me) is 110kg, a set of four LR wheels with 6.00x16 mud plugga nearly another 100kg, welder, generator, air compressor, tools...another 100kg. That plus chassis and body it will reach nearly half a ton! 5km/h will do for me, so speed is not an issue. As an example, this tank has 16HP engine and weights 500kg I think I should consider a diesel engine (8 to 12 HP) from one of this, quite easy to obtain in my area That Jeep is awesome! It even has real axles!
  11. Hi all, One of the crazy ideas/vapour builds that I´m seriously considering making real is a 1/2 size Land Rover. After some days of thinking I have decided that I will use real Series parts (at zero cost as I have them in the barn) such as wheels/tyres, hubs/stub axles and maybe halfshafts to create a 1/2 size Roadless Traction Fores Rover. It will have no suspensión, but a pivoting/twisting chassis to give good axle articulation and steering. It will be used for playing (mainly), for towing the caravan (as a powered trolley) and as a mobile workshop (generator, air compressor, welder, flood light...) Only thing I don´t know is hot to power it. I can have acces to the following. -Cordless drill. 12V, 550rpm, 2.5 Amp drawing. Got two of them. -12V 6A power station -Santana Series IIA-III-IIIA 12V starter motors -Four stroke petrol mower engine -Two stroke chainsaw -220VAC driller. Various, from 500 to 750 Watts. -Tons of pedal bike parts I first thought about 220VAC drillers+generator, but don´t think it will be safe. Any previous experiences with powered small Landys? I really liked the one that Gremlin did. One sketch
  12. Nope, that part # appears as 32 spline CV (B suffix) Using the your google search I have found this I´m looking for "1". It´s not 10/10 as I thought, but 10 splines + integral flange. If the info from this russian page is correct, it will be 571761. EDIT: 571761 is the correct part number. "CV drive flange". Thanks, I will have never came across it without your google search!
  13. I have downloaded the Microcat, but have been unable to run it, and have tried to search the www with no success. I´m looking for early Range Rover front super short halfshafts, those that go from the wheel drive flange to the 23/10 CV. Only thing I know is that they are 10/10 splines. The idea is to use them in a Discovery for enabling the use of 24/23 HD shafts without the use of new stub axles and drive flanges, as needed for Defender 23/24 AEU2522 CVs.
  14. The person who fitted a Santana six to his 88" used the 4 cylinder box, with a SAVA van clutch, that was same diameter as the one with six pot but had the splines of the four.
  15. The above plus 100% new hinges, located internally, will be my choice. The type used in older bus/coach luggage area could work.

  17. After visiting a train museum some days ago, the last crazy idea is to build a Land Rover road railer for a 7 1/4" track at the in law´s farm. More less a mix between this two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuszvlLl0iQ With a good engine + tyre combo it could even be used for working at the garden or orchard!
  18. Not 100% sure, but I think that LT85 was first used in 2.25 TURBO (75HP) SIIIA. In Series IV turbo was dropped in favor of N/A 2.5.
  19. A member from the "Club Land Rover TT" made a 88" six. Problem was that this engine is top heavy. He said that, having the chance again, will have gone Tdi. Solihull could have created a supercar in early 80´s using a OneTen chassis, widened aluninium body, 101 axles and a turbo six. Africa will be now full of 3.5/4.0 Tdi Defenders instead of Landcruiser 105s! Instead they buried millions with "Iceberg" project. Many, many years ago, a carpenter came home for taking measures for a new window. He had a metric/imperial tape. He measured inches, but wrote cm, and next day he appeared with a window 2.5 times smaller than the hole in the wall
  20. Gearbox was an ISA, Industrias Subsidiarias Aeronáunticas. Will take more pics next time I visit my bro (he is now building a new engine trolley)
  21. I want to show this engine so members from outside Spain can appreciate it, as it was a Santana development and never used by Solihull. Santana engineers added two extra cylinders to the 2.25 four pot design. Santana even turbocharged it (prototype only). If used by Solihull, it could have ended as a 3.5 Tdi in late 80's. The unit pictured came from the "Cazorla" (top of the range Santana model in 1979, a six cylinder 109" SW) that we salvaged 10 years ago. Whe have never fired it and the idea was to use its starter motor, clutch, ISA gearbox and axles as bulletproof HD units for our 2.25 88". First, a video from YouTube so you can hear the 94HP beast. Engine in background is a standard 2.25. Quite surprisingly, Santana used a VM N/A six cylinder unit for the 300M proto that they made for spanish army in the mid 90´s
